Welcome TRAN
keep ol' Denmark in good hands. how's she doing nowadays? i quit this game a while, and pevergreen had to quit too? at least i had the good sense to tell the password in this one and use the one i always remember.
Almost 3 days since I posted Didz's turn. He read the PM too and has been online. Anyone know whether he is still playing?
Last I know he was still playing but a bit disgruntled about it all...
I will check his PM to see if I got it wrong...
Russia's Turn
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1098-6.zip
Sorry, for the delay...combination of Xmas and work has kept me distracted.
BTW: I am not disgruntled. I am just annoyed with myself for being stupid enough to believe that Ignoramous was a honourable person and on that basis to agreeing to Tristan's request to spare England so as to let him stay in the game. I should have been ruthless, refused to give England back either York or London, and used the money raised to besiege Nottingham and finish them off.
But like an idiot I decided to be merciful and accept a deal to hand England back their capital only to have them renege on both their agreement with Scotland and their vassalage to France and stab me in the back by using the free army they got as a result my gift of London to invade Scotland.
A brilliant peice of diplomatic deception by Ignoramous, only possible because of the shortcomings of the games diplomacy mechanic's which required me to hand London back to England, before he had to complete his side of the deal.
As things stand the armies of Scotland and England are now poised for what may well be the final battle for either one or both of us outside the walls of York. Scotland has nothing to lose as it cannot survive without York. Likewise, hopefully England can't win because having stripped both London and Nottingham of almost their entire garrisons to raise the one massive army outside York I am hoping that even if they do take the city I shall make such a mess of that army in the process that France will be able to simply walk in and revenge Scotlands betrayal and their own embarrassment at having been hoodwinked.
Hmm you do have Dublin and Inverness, right?
save for Danes: http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1098-7.rar
Hi guys!
I've been lurking around and thought I would finally post. I just saw Didz's post about the Scottish/Anglo war and have some thoughts that I have learned from playing the Kingdoms Hotseats.
1.) If you have a chance to finish a faction off, take it. An opponent with nothing to lose is one of the most dangerous kinds.
2.) Do not be surprised if factions backstab you. It's part of the game.
3.) Remember that if you are backstabbed, it is just a game. The player involved should be commended OOC for his diplomatic skill.
4.) Find ways to have fun even if your faction is losing. If your going to go down, go down swinging.
:2thumbsup:
5. You can always buy a ship and sail for Arguin. :laugh4:
:egypt:
What you should understand is the way that was done :
There was no IC reasoning just a call for mercy on the basis that it was only the fifth turn and that we could finish him off, never to see the sixth turn...
Out of kindness, I pleaded Igno's case to Didz and made some arrangements that Igno immediately took advantage, unfairly, IMHO...
All this left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth...
I suppose that's the risk of mixing OOC reasons with IC actions. Meh, I can't blame Ignoramus for what he did nor Tristan and Didz for being angry about it.
It is not so much angry but rather disappointed...
Ramses, Arguin cannot be reached by ship (although I guess it could be with an ocean faring one)
Err, your game would end when your last province was captured during the voyage too, that's why it's 'funny.' Or not. :inquisitive:
Think of it as the MTWII equivilent of going to fly a kite.
:egypt:
Nope! when I took over Scotland all it had was Edinburgh, a huge debt to the local jewish money lender and an army parked just outside London.Quote:

The reason I attacked Didz was because he was excommunicated. I roleplayed it as being unable tp sign peace with him because he was a pariah of the Pope.
The misunderstanding might have occured because out-of-game peace negotiations and in-game peace offers were different.
Didz was pushing for a ceasefire giving me back London and in exchange receiving Nottingham and keeping York. I didn't agree, and was trying to negotiate keeping Nottingham and London, when I get an in-game offer from a Scottish diplomat offering me London and a ceasefire. So I gratefully accepted.
It seems there is an issue with (either) the save game (or game settings): I can't load the save game. Everytime the game finished loading the save, it returns to the main menu.
Help?
Are you updated to 1.3? Sounds like the 1.2-1.3 issue, but there may be other possibilities.
:egypt:
Ah. 1.3 it is, can you provide the download link please? :sweatdrop:
No problem :)

:egypt:
I recognised that was the excuse, although the ex-communication occurred before the negotiations started and so it seems England were willing to accept London as a gift from a pariah of the Pope, but not complete their side of the bargain having obtained what they wanted.Quote:

There was no misunderstanding, the deal offered had already been agreed and accepted on your behalf by France, who at that time were supposedly your vassal lords. England having thrown itself under their mercy and protection to avoid annihilation.Quote:

The advantage being that both Scotland and England would gain an instant army out of the deal for use supporting Frances plans to invade the low countries, whilst London being a city would give England better income to support future expansion on the continent.Quote:
Hail, my gracious ally,
I confirm that William is now my vassal and thus your ally...
So I would ask you to stop waging war against him...
From what I know, London is yours already and York shall be soon...
Here is what I propose :
1/ Nottingham is to remain in English hands (OOC: otherwise the English faction might be destroyed and it would be sad to lose a player so early in game)
2/If not taken already, London and York will be given to you as a Gift (OOC:Thus gaining you troops instead of losing some in sieges and making your rep higher with England)
3/Ireland will be yours to conquer w/out English interference.
4/You will have military access through english land to go from York to London and back.
5/Further negociation could lead to an exchange of Nottingham for London.
6/I propose that once that matter is settled, we prepare joint attacks on the rebel towns of Bruges and Antwerp and do it so that the winner of the siege makes it a gift to the other party (OOC : so if I take Antwerp, I'll give it to you and on your taking Bruges, you'll give it to me we'll both gain troops for free this way)
I'll send an edited copy of this deal to William if you do agree... He is in no position to refuse as we could crush him in one turn between the two of us...
Know that he was true to his word and revealed to me the name of the would-be agressor...
Yours faithfully,
King Philippe
That deal was agreed with France on your behalf and you were instructed to comply with it as a vassal of Tristan. I completed my part of this deal by transferring London back into your control, providing you with your free army.
However, you refused to complete your part of the arrangement and ignoring your new obligations to France, you have chosen to use the troops raised to attack one of Frances allied states. Effectively, betraying your oath of fealty to the King Phillipe.
I really think the first page of this thread needs to be seriously updated...
Anyway, Poland's turn:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1098-8.zip
England's up:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1100.zip
Nothing of substance to report, except look at the size of Sicily! Impressive expansion.
:egypt:
Eh, how do you know the size of my lands? :inquisitive:
I only have 9 regions btw. They look huge though.
Territories section of the faction overview. Check out France and Germany while you're there. It's not hard to calculate the exact number given that you know your own place and the steps are so clearly delineated.
Now FH, I'm shocked you hadn't thought of that. Or that you're sandbagging me, which seems more likely.
:egypt:
Good god! You have 9 regions?Quote:

I started with 2 regions, 2 fleets and 3 generals.
Well that would appear to support Pizza Guys assertion that blitzers will dominate an MP game just as they do in SP.
Of course.
I normally only blitz in the first 10-15 turns to get a decent economic base before I take it slow though in SP. In MP, I'm not quite sure how it will go. You guys all expand much faster than the AI does and that leaves me with little room for expansion.
Blizt is only allowed because other players are rather quiet...
Blitzers over-extand themselves and are subject to counter-attacks from other players (most being afraid or unwilling to declare war...)
As for France blitzing, I was driven to do it by England's aggression but I'am now setting a much slower pace...
But FH can afford to blitz seeing as he is surrounded by AI factions and now that he's pretty powerful no-one is going to want to go all the way down to Sicily to take him on. One of the reasons I picked Russia is so I can just hide in the corner away from everyone's interests untill one day...
There are no corners to hide into for me... Too bad...
You can always go to Arguin or Timbuktu
Too long a trip... I can't bear plane flights... :clown:
FH's blitzing is impressive, and certainly not my usual style. I think having ready access to the mediterranean helped him in that regard.
As AtPG agreed to, blitzing in a MP game that has more than 2 players can only work if some of the other players allow it to work. A blitzer makes himself vulnerable to getting pounced on by other players.
Diplomacy is the key...
Depends on the type of blitzer you are. I blitz and occupy, not sack and promote growth before military.
But you can't defend everywhere at once. Like I said, it would take diplomacy to secure your rather large borders.
MP is much much different than SP.
My borders are small considering they are all small islands or a tiny region inside a large landmass. More like many satellites. Being allied to other blitzers of course is always useful
Play your turn Ignoramus.

Ichigo's turn
Hello everyone. I was wondering, on the off chance a new wplayer is ever needed (i.e. if someone can't play any more), could I give it a shot? I'm having a blast with the Kingdoms games and am hoping to get into a grand campaign MP game sometime.
You'll be welcome, Zim...
You've come just a bit too late as Tran has taken over Denmark only last turn...
I don't know if anybody is on the verge of dropping out... I'm certainly not...
I'll check in from time to time to see if anyone ever does drop out for some reason.
In the meantime, I'm testing the waters to see if anyone is interested in another hotseat game.
I would... but I've not enough time already with the three I'm in...
The Grand Campaign one doesn't take me as much time as either the Crusades or Teutonic ones...
I can't even continue my AAR...
Drat, I would have tried to pick a faction that could ally with you so I'd have a chance of winning. ~;)
Turn complete and uploaded.

Have a great Xmas everyone.
Just to forewarn everyone I shall be going away for Xmas from Sunday until the New Year so I may not have access to a PC with MTW on it when my next turn comes up.
Not so fast. Before you go, play your turn

Done!
Russia's Turn http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1100-6.zip
Is Tran aware than it is his turn ?
Yes, I sent him a PM.
Since he's always on invisible mode though, I don't know when he last checked in, but he hasn't read the PM yet (but then Ignoramus never reads your PMs either )
What's the thought about whether we should skip his turn?
I think we should give him the full 48 hours and if he doesn't play his turn skip him.
Sorry, I was away from my main PC. Poland's turn:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1100-8.zip
England is up. Announcements in the diplomatic thread.
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1102.zip
:egypt:
Is it me, or did Ignoramus forget to tell about his move?
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1102-1.zip
Not sure if that's the correct file, though. I just take a quick look at PBM database.
I'm sorry that I forgot, but it is the 24th of December, and it's not as if I've had nothing to do.
HRE is up...
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1102-2.rar
Turn complete and uploaded.
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1102-4.zip
Seeing how Didz will be away for more than a week, I took the liberty of playing his turn (as he has no allies). There was not much that could be done anyway, and skipping it would be unfair to him (being down to his last province and all units exhausted).
Brief synopsis: Accepted both diplomacy offers presented by other factions. Moved his agents where he wanted them to go as indicated by green markers. Explored York by ship. Hired more units to defend his last city.
Save for Russia is thus up:

[edit]
As for my own turn. It was smooth, but I was more than surprised to see that my princess was fried by an inquisitor
Hmmm it seems Elite Ferret/Bob the great will be gone till new year's.
Anyone got his password? Its not in this thread.
I think since he's allied to Poland, Ramses should be eligible to play his turn or we can skip it.
My feeling is that either econ or Ignoramus might have it?
I may be an ally, but I'm also his closest opponent and most likely eventual enemy. There is probably information he doesn't want me to have and once I discover it, it would be difficult for me to completely disregard it or not take advantage in some way. I'd recommend FH or Spain play his turn as both are far enough away as to not be any threat of war in the near future. I'm sure Bob would be fine with that.
:egypt:
I can also play the turn... Being so far does not give me any interest (so no conflict of interest...)
Can I play as the Egyptians? Or are there no factions left?
Sorry, but once started no new player can join... unless admin access has been enabled which is not the case here...

England is up:

:egypt:
Factionheir asked me to play Ignoramus's turn, which I have done in the past and so I agreed again.
France is up:

Thank you econ
Hopefully Tristan will have his turn done in the morning. I'll be gone from Friday til probably around Wednesday or Thursday.
Tristan said he'll do it Friday afternoon GMT+1.
Save is here for Ichigo :
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/MPC1104-2.rar
And a grave announcement has been made in the Diplomacy thread...
As Ichigo is gone, I shall be playing his turn as his substitute.
We now have the 2nd confirmed kill in a Throne Room hotseat. Congratulations. :2thumbsup:
