Are you agreeing with me that a more-or-less random vote is a good approach on day one? Because that's what I was trying to say. That's exactly what I did, but Ninjacow, albeit somewhat humorously, criticized me for doing so, since I voted for him without an explanation. I was pointing out that he also voted for people on Day 1 without much of a substantial explanation, as did many others.

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
I think it has more to do with the fact that you voted for him with no explanation.

I think Random vote is bad, but it's the only thing which is possible and considering how it sparks reaction it's better than doing nothing
Voting without a reason would give the poor fellow nothing to react to. So I think some kind of reason should be stated.
what I was trying to say there was regardless of what your role is the common method is to create a tradition(eg me voting for AA and Csargo voting abstain on day 1) and observe from behind the curtains. This saves you from most of day 1 bandwagons

Pizza apologizes for delay, and doesn't expect further delays. Please if you are in any other game on any other site with Pizza, can you forward this message to the other players in these games. Thanks.
OK, I'll excuse him at CFC.

This being Day One…

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
Pizza sent a message with his phone? Clearly, he's a mafioso.

Can I have his phone number please?

Yes you can, no you may not. :P

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
Never understood the arguments for a random chosen kill on day 1. Statistically it is completely dumb to have a random vote where the vast majority is innocent.

Statistically, random wins games for town. It's merely too boring a tactic to exercise for most forumites.

Correct, if you implemented it all the way through. But doing it on just day one is dumb because it's practically a free death for the mafia. I guess it's the same reason as not doing it the entire game, an abstaining day 1 is boring.

My sentiments were similar in the beginning, but I learned to stop whining and lynch at every possible opportunity on spurious grounds. This way, I could get scum at the end and win glory for myself. Of course, it always fails because I have no gut-sense and just can't pick my scum. I lose quite a few games for town as a result, but it's the journey that counts, right?

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy [IN PLAY]
This is why some people set a minimum amount of votes for someone to be lynched on Day One.
-
Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy [IN PLAY]
ATPG has a really good argument about why lynches on day one are good, I don't know where it is though.
-
Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy [IN PLAY]
Something about having the most chances to kill scum. Also, check for scum behavior.

If there is a vanilla, or near-vanilla game, then voting behavior is close to the only source of information.
If we do not vote day 1 (without real reasons), then we do not have reasons at day 2.
No matter when, we must do our first lynch blindly in fact

I agree, which is why I voted for Ninjacow. None of my usual "traditional" first-day voting 'partners' are playing in this game, so I figured I needed to start a new one. Ninjacow seems like a good choice. :)

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
Apologies for the extended delays.
What happened was my upstairs neighbor disconnected my cable wire, trying to get free cable tv for himself. When he tried it out, he found out I have no cable TV and left it unplugged.
Then, he broke open my downstairs neighbors' cable (who, by the way, was also stealing cable) and put a splitter on his cable so that he can get free cable as well.
So I was without internet for three days because of two very stupid lazy thieves who are both caught red-handed and will be talking to the police about it.

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
Ok, officially the round was supposed to have ended on schedule. It's not fair for votes to count beyond that point since the game host announced when the round would end.
That said, if there was a tie at that time, then the day would be extended to break the tie. I no longer allow random.org to influence the outcome of my games beyond setting up who was who. If we want to win or lose games based on coin flips, we could just remove voting altogether and save us a month worth of fun.
So as Diana mentioned, in her official capacity as my only contact with the world of the living when my internets are nonfunctional, if there was a tie, tiebreaker rules are in effect and round will end tomorrow at 2PM, with all votes between the start of the round and this new end of the round in full effect.
However, if there was no tie, the lynch leader at 2PM couple days back was legally lynched as scheduled.
Now I must tally the votes to see if there is a lynch or a tie. Pardon moi.

This post appears to contain the last legal vote.
Tiaexz: Monty, JHT
edse: Choxorn, BSmith
Monty: Chaotix, Diana,
El Barto: Visorslash, NinjaCow
Double A: Beefy, SouthernKing
Beefy: Double A,
Ishmael: atheotes
Bsmith: Edse
Skooma: Memnon
Ironside: Daveshack
ACIN: Nightbringer
Nightbringer: Xenoneb
WEW: Ishmael
Classical: MRD
Chaotix: Arjos
Visorslash: Jarema
King Jan: Classical
Csargo: Ironside
atheotes: Tiaexz
JHT: Skooma Addict
NinjaCow: WEW
ATPG: El Barto
Round ended with a five-way tie; this tally fixes Visorslash's tally error regarding SouthernKing/Double A.
As such, unless I've miscounted, the round will continue from that point onward until 2pm tomorrow.
That means the continued votes past the previous official deadline are now legal and in effect. (Not reflected in the above tally)
This should be the only day that we have to deal with a round lasting more than 24 hours. Couldn't be helped, but now tiebreaker rules are known.
Should a tie remain unresolved at extended round end, no one will be lynched.

Re: [League] The Return of Askvaard Von Pizzaguy
Why not just count the posts after than until now, so that is when you posted again, since you said that if it were a tie thee votes will continue.

Yeah you would think, but about 95%-99% of these posts are in mafia games. These games are the main thing I do on these sites.

Yes, statistically your odds of lynching a townie are higher, but there have been games that a random hit on the 1st day got a mafioso too. Either way voting, even on the 1st day, helps to establish a voting pattern to analysis later. And yeah, voting abstain is boring.

What an unexpected decision.
