Not exactly. There are plenty of forums and topic where you can post; and if you have something important to add to a topic that is temporarily restricted to you, the moderators are willing to move your post. The O.rg has its own membership system that restricts new members to the EH and a couple of other forums. This is indeed somewhat restrictive, but it keeps out trolls, flamers and other nuissances of the internet. Also, all that it takes to get promoted to full member is a few friendly and helpfull posts and a bit of patience. Therother explained the promotion requirements here. It is not true that promotion depends on post-count and blatant spamming will at best delay promotion. For more information, consult the Guild FAQ.Quote:

Ludens: was I one of the spammers who had a delayed promotion?
I don't think so, as far as I could see you always stayed on topic. But I am not in charge of promotions.Quote:

I just recently joined up...I've been playing the TW series since the release of MTW...I've played many variants so far, but am new to EB. Everything looks fantastic. Any plans out there to build a mod w/the BI upgrades/platform?
I enjoy stamp collecting and crushing my enemies like bugs...hahahaha...only kidding. I really dont collect stamps.
Seriously, I'm from PA (go STEELERS) but am living in the great state of Alabama doin hospital work.

Welcome, Emperor, Telys and Varro!
(yes I'm lazy)
Hi There,
Long time reader finally decided to register and express my opinion on a few things! Been playing since MTW and love reading these forums.
Salve, Mincemeat.
Hey Byzantine Emperor, guess what? If you stick around, there will be three of you Byzantines.
Greetings
After I have been visiting this forum for years and learning a lot of useful stuff (and some not so useful) I decided to join.
I my case it was the EB mod that has been the decisive factor in joining - since it is a really impressive mod and I want to annoy the members of EB with my opinions on how to further improve the game.
Welcome, keep posting now, so you can see all of the boards.
Welcome aboard, Crac! ~
Hey I am newbie also to this forum!!! ~:)

Hail to all newbies I missed.
Salutations all! This is my first post in The Guild forums. Just wanted to say hello to everyone, so to speak. Oh, if anyone could provide or direct me to, assistance in editing/creating units/agents in MTW/VI, I would be forever in your debt. Thank You, and may Odin show you no mercy!
Why thank you....lolQuote:

Welcome to the Org, Heimdall. This is not the right thread to ask such a question, but if you repost it in the Entrance Hall one of the moderators can move it to the appropriate forum. What do you specifically want to do? I am not a modder, but I recall that BKB added Jewish Master Merchants to his mod, so it should be possible.Quote:

Welcome to the .org Telys The Conqueror
Thanks, Ludens! I probably should have thought about posting that question in the appropriate forum. I want to create a Viking (or Pagan, if you will) Runemaster unit to counteract the Catholic surge in my provinces. I'll look around and see what info I can find. May Odin All-Father show you no mercy!Quote:

Welcome to the Org then!
G'day mate. I'm a public servant in Australia. Been playing RTW for ages, but now have a technical problem. Where do I post for technical support? Once I get going again, I am bursting to try my new grand strategy I have now developed. If it works out, I'll post details.
Welcome to the org. Well, for tech support you can post at the Apothecary, just make sure you describe your problem very well.
Public servant in Australia and you like Dacians?Quote:

Hello, AndyNgFL.
Hello, I'm Woad Warrior. I've been looking around this site for a while now and I just joined up today. I've played all TW games, but I pretty much just stick to Rome now.
BTW, look out for my bit in the Org-Gazette, I'll be in it from the second issue onwards.

Just wanted to say hi. Now playing as Turks Hard/XL.
Got my ass kicked by Eggies camels in my first desert battle... :embarassed:
Vince
What up vince, I've only played medieval a few times as the french, english, and hungarians. I played it after I played rtw first so I wasn't realy taken in by it, kind of discouraged by the diplomacy or lack there of.

In 1087 conflict was growing through the known western world. The great Turkish sultan sensed an opportunity and decided to claim ownership of Armenia to consolidate his lands to prepare for the forthcoming wars. Didn't he know that the two other eastern superpowers Byzantine and Egypt had other plans. The cowards Byzantines and Egyptians attacked while the sultan was busy sieging the Armenian castle. The Turkish warriors protected their homelands with much bravery but with significant losses fighting a two front war.
The great sultan then made a fatal strategic mistake. He assigned a general with royal connection but with limited battle experience (zero command star) to besiege the Syrian castle. The Egyptian sultan sensed weakness and sent his battle hardened 750 strong army commanded by a 4-star general to lift the siege. The foolish Turkish general with his 600 men consisting of two units of spears, two militias, and five desert archers decided to engage the enemy. He intended to have his archers pellet the enemy from a hill. He was much surprised when the scouts returned claming that there are only dunes in the desert. The much disappointed general decided to deploy his two units of spears in the front and his two militias on the flanks on the top of a dune. Two units of archers were then deployed in front of the spears, which will eventually join the 3 units of archers in the rear. The Egyptian general then sent one unit of camel to attack each flank. The impatient Egyptian general in his camel made a frontal assault with the rest of the army. The Turkish general sensed panic among his army and ordered the archers to concentrate the arrows on the flanks and the enemy general. But the battle was already lost; the militias couldn't hold the camel charge and started fleeing toward the Turkish frontline. This caused a complete disarray of the Turkish army and the fleeing soldiers were cut down one by one.... The great sultan learned his lesson. He never underestimated again those funny looking camels and used them brilliantly a few years later against the Almohads.

Welcome all new members! LLB at your service,
Hey all, new here,
just bought the gold edition, do you have some recommended patches I should dl?
anywayz im already addicted and Im loving this site more and more
Cheers!
Welcome fallon. I've downloaded one patch, v1.3, just to change a few things and not the whole game, but I believe there's a v1.5 for rtw and 1.6 for bi and a lot of people seem to enjoy rtr so you might wanna give that a try to.
Hello, fallon.
Welcome to the Org, fallon 144. Since the Gold edition comes with Barbarian Invasion, you will need the latest BI patch: BI 1.6. You can find it on this site. Also download the little campaign fix found on this page. It corrects a minor mistake in the building files.Quote:

Bug-Fixer is an unofficial patch made by Player1 that corrects many of the small bugs and mistakes left in the accessible game files. Darth Formations is a small modification made by Darth Vader. It makes the A.I. more clever by changing its battlefield formations. This is something more experienced players certainly appreciate, as the A.I. of R:TW is not too bright.
Unlike Telys The Conqueror I don't recommend Rome: Total Realism (or R:TR). Firstly, the current version of R:TR, R:TR Gold, is made for R:TW 1.2 (without BI) so it won't run on R:TW Gold. Also, I would not play a major modification (like R:TR) until I have got to know the original game. If you are interested despite this, you can find the official R:TR site here. R:TR is a modification that makes the game more challenging and realistic, but it does change a lot of the original game.
Welcome fallon144. The ever-helpful Ludens gives good advice.
I've noticed :)Quote:

Hello all.Im a new MTW/VI player. I bought the game last year while in England on holiday. Since then I ve git STW/we as well. I try to play about an hour a day, but Im still learning. All the ebst,TF
Hail Tony Furze! Welcome to the org!
Well, my browser is saying to introduce myself, so here goes. My name says it all if you are in the know, an Asatruar, follower of the Gods of the pre-Christian northern europeaners, i.e. the northmen and vikings...
I started playing MTW a while back, and had a few probs with it's design so I decided to change that myself and found myself here to learn how to mod the game.
BTW, anyone know a mod to string all three periods together, combine units (imagine a combination unit of pikemen and arquebusier) and modifying units?
I chain smoke, drink mead, beer and vodka like it is water, curse, play a mean guitar and score at the bar...
Welcome to the org. allfathersgodi.~:medievalcheers:
Hello, I am Jakenason Lionheart Rhovanian. (Long name, I know) I just figured that to become a full member I needed to introduce myself and get into the site. So, here I am! I play Rome: Total War every weekend when school isn't such a hassle. I take a Tae Kwon Do martial arts class (where I am now a 2nd degree black belt), I am a straight A student from a Nebraska high school. I also play Football and Basketball. I think my greatest quality would have to be my incredible way of making everyone around me feel good about themselves (My father was that way as well, must be some kind of genetic thing).
I love sports, but mostly I love to kick butt on R:TW!!!
I love you all!!!! (Any girls on this site?)
Hello, Jake. There are about 5 girls on the site, since this isn't a dating hub.
Hello everybody
I've had MTW for a while now, but never too seriously. But started getting back into it in a big way since I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall it
Oh How rude of me.
Hello everyone:oops:
:balloon2: Heya, Sedrik and General. Enjoy your stay! :balloon2: ~
Hmmm, not sure I should ask the question here, but here it goes. One of the thing that aggrevates me is the relatively short campaign time for the periods. Well, I heard that you can extend this time by hacking the code. Can you do it to the Early Period, extending it to the end time for Late Period and get the scientific advances (compass, gunpowder, etc) that you get in Late Period?
I know it isn't a dating hub, obviously. Only five, hmm... Anyway, HELLO EVERYONE!!!Quote:

Yes, the game ends at 1453 irregardless of the period you start. This coincides with the fall of Constantinople and the end of the medieval period.Quote:
