Bars kind of dead these days, no? All of our patrons must be playing 1.0. :yes:

Anyways, I figured, since my laptop has absolutely no chance of playing EB....I would download a mod specifically for it.

I figured I would give Rise of Persia 2.1 Beta a whirl. :yes:

All that I can say is, it's really a great mod. I've heard many people say RoP was unstable, but this newest version seems pretty good.

So, if you're bored like me and waiting for 1.0 to finish, RoP is a nice get-away from the 3rd century BC. :yes:

*as the bartender turns to go back to work, one of the shady characters throws an empty glass, which just barely misses his head.*

And now; why do you think this bar is deserted? It seems to attract some shady characters you'd rather not meet at night... :no:

Just returned from a pretty crazy battle: 1098 people willing to die for their city's (Phraaspa) sake. Did not even have to make a move for the settlement:

they managed to kill exactly 2 Hyrkanian Hillmen;
they managed to save exactly 3 of their souls;
only the general's bodyguard (which advanced in pseuod-shieldwall :2thumbsup: for the AI; pretty cool to see :yes:) was the only unit to reach my line -whittled down to those 3 men;
only the kinsmen from Phraaspa managed to mount a charge...

So you killed 1098 people and lost 3 men?

Hmmm, sounds like a pyhrric victory which will send your empire spiraling into chaos and disarray.

How could any state possibly replace those losses? I ask you, how? :dizzy2::laugh4:

Charge, you might get much better performance out of a torrent. I don't know what kind of connection you have, but I managed to download 1.0 in less than an hour through that. A bit better than three days, certainly.

Another great game for Johnny Wilkinson. That drop-goal was fantastic.( The french were fantastic too - i'm sorry for them). I hope that England will beat South Africa. Come on England!!!

Heh, I went all the way to my dad's house, downloaded EB, burned it to a disc, checked the disc....aaaah. I now have EB 1.0, or so I thought.

I get home and walk into my house, and I look down at the disc, and there is a big crack running all the way across it. :sad:

I must have broke it somehow. I was carrying some other stuff, but I've never broken a CD/DVD before....I'll have to be more careful. :embarassed:

Oh well, at least my back up dl is at 55%....after only 2 days. At my dad's it downoaded in 17 minutes. Heh, I suck.

I only recently revisited TW series and voila... EB has gone gold. Now I must rely on questionable strenght of will to not (too much) neglect my wife and kids. I was so far interested more in military history (especialy uniformology) of seven years war and napoleonics, but EB begin to spark some interest in ancients too.

So I installed 1.0 after the Ptolemies turned on me and made short work of Sabyn empire...

Wow, the new campaign map is awesome. It doesn't lag at all on my machine....everything seems very stable. Good, very good. :yes: :2thumbsup:

Well, it is shortly after the Bavarian summer-holidays end, so it has upsides and downsides. Upsides beeing that the friends are back from holidays so that you can celebrate the birthday on it's proper date, the downsides beeing for example having to go to school.

We do have longer school holidays, even the uni breaks last (slightly) longer. 2 or 3 weeks, IIRC.
