There is a fallout one, it most likely will be transferred and adapted across.

Cos they are pretty interesting.
I never have but there is a big lore loving community in TES. I use them for stat boosters and collections.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
The majority of the books seem to have been around since Morrowind, at least. I do read them if I don't recognise the title.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
I will never read The Lusty Argonian.

I do, except for the ones I remember reading back in Morrowind or Oblivion. I like the way you can find mini quests in books now, as well as the traditional skill points.

-edit-
Also, some lovely person has assembled all of Skyrim's books into e-reader-friendly format, and is offering them here. A nice way to while away some bathroom or commute hours when you're away from your beloved RPG.
As the blog notes, if you do not own a copy of Skyrim you should not download the books. But I can't imagine why you would want to read the books if you don't own the game, so it's a bit of a non-issue.

Yes, the double entendres are brilliantly terrible.
I'm off to polish my spear.

Sounds very nice, but any news on the frequent crashes? That's the major breaker for me.

Yey! I've been experiencing this one recently. Dragons infinitely circling, causing fight music, but without the fight.

It's a shame you only need the book for initiating the quest, instead of also offering necessary information to complete the quest.

Come now, that's an integral part of a Bethesda game!

As long as it is not part of an active quest, and as long as you are certain it does not contain hints for the various mini quests, no. I do like to collect the volumes about the tougher enemy types as they contain some nice info for fighting them; I tend to find the books long before I encounter the enemies.

WHY YES DEAR LEN! Where else can you make your own library. I currently have my entire whiterun house filled with books. I cant even go into the second bedroom because of them.

So true. They're invaluable collector's pieces.

I wish you could fit more books onto the bookshelves you get with house upgrades. 15 books is not enough!

No kidding! Lydia is a great librarian. She is holding upwards of 150 books for me.

I completely agree. Even the fully upgraded Solitude house is woefully inadequate for storage. The alchemy and enchanting rooms don't even have any containers for storage of their respective ingredients/items! Ugh. No display cases, too few mannequins and weapon displays, and they don't even have any smithing areas! Oh well, I never use the OOB Bethsoft housing after my first play through anyway. Modded housing is always far superior in all Bethsoft games. At least in Skyrim they actually added built-in mannequins, automated bookshelves, and the various weapon/shield displays. It'll be nice to not have to download mods for that stuff again.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
"I met my past self in Sollitude the other day, handsome fella, nice hair, no sense of fasion though! Thistle purple!? Doesn't he know it's royal purple with gold?! Bah, I distinctly remember my past self being a lot snappier dresser than that barbarian! Or was it my future self? Can never keep track of that one, allways zipping about, not a moment spent looking around or sniffing the roses. Not that you'd want to sniff the roses, mind, most are frozen."

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
How did the patch turn out? Didn't one release today?
-
Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
Oblivion added the wonderful Battlehorn castle with all the nifty things like personal trainers and taxidermists in a free DLC. Here's hoping Skyrim does something like that.
Also I got a question about a certain blade. Minor side-quest spoilers.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
Ok, so, what is the ultimate light armour and heavy armour? Not in terms of protection, but overall usability?
-
Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
Dragoneplate. Hehe. Dragonbone is in Dragon Age Origins.
IMO Steel plate works well until you can reach Dragonplate/Daedric. Orcish and Ebony armour are better than it in terms of protection, but I don't much like the look of Orcish and the total addition to armour value isn't that much anyway. Ebony armour looks good but then Ebony ore is so rare as it is that I'd much rather save it for crafting Daedric stuff later.
So despite having found bits of other higher tier armour, I'm still sticking with my steel plate at level 23.
I haven't looked into Light armour as much but Elven Armour is quite good. I use it to array my followers so that they can be better protected and still have a lot of surplus carrying space. And one can easily find tons of Elven armour by killing
so there isn't even any need to look for too much moonstone.
BTW Daedric armour models looks pretty awesome in Skyrim. It actually looks demonic, like it's supposed to look. The Daedric weapons look rather overdone though.
