Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
Anyone up for EB mp this weekend? Note though, that I'm too lazy to have x-fire and other programs so it'll just be plain playing through the admittedly buggy - but acceptably stable - lobby.
Rules suggestion:
- 20k or 25k mnai
- no artillery
- match factions historically (i.e. no Lusotannan vs Saka and so on)
- pick any troop composition you like. My experience was that the mnai limitation above will automatically force you to pick historical and balanced armies
- any historical battle reenaction (through custom battle though) suggestions are welcome, but the actual battle tactics needn't follow history.

Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
OK, people, don't know what strange things you have been doing untill now, but this is how to put in the mp edu for 1.0:
Find your RTW route folder. Go into eb folder. Find the folder called mp custom game edu. go into it, copy the custom_edu, and paste it into the same folder. Then, rename one of them to export_descr_unit, and copy that one.
Go up, then in to the data folder, and paste the file into eb/data. Tell it to overwrite.
N.B. If it doesn't ask to overwrite, then you have done something wrong.
When you want to retrun to sp, repeat the process, only use te file that you find in eb/sp game edu backup, though I personaly would recomend two installs of eb, one for mp and one for sp (so you can apply the fixes, which mp runs without as deafualt.
How to make two installs of eb. Thanks to the genius of Dol Guldur, eb is as of 1.0 is now a pure mod-folder instalation. This means you can have two copies of it running out of the same vannila install, without the risk of clashes. To do this find your 1.0 intalation, and right click on it. Press extract to eb1.0, and let it run.
When it is finnished, open the folder and inside should be a folder called eb. Rename it eb mp, and paste it into your rtw folder. Then, go to your desktop and find your 1.0 shortcut. Copy and paste it, and rename one ebmp. Then right click on ebmp, and go to properties. Change the traget line from mod:eb to mod:ebmp. Press apply and then ok, and you should be sorted.

have you tested this?

Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
Nope, but bovi has several times specificaly said that eb 1.0 is a pure mod folder installation, which is easily provable if you look at what is acctualy inside the instaler. Given that, this is guaranteed to work. I hope.:embarassed:

Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
pharn.... always test stuff always test stuff. No matter what has been said.
-
Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
pharn i dont mean to keep pounding this point but the original mp edu that comes with EB is, I believe sorely missing units for many factions so you may wanna look at the few edu's that people have posted for new ones
-
Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)
Which units?
I haven't noticed any.

Re: E.B. multiplayer (offical)

I think it's probably safer to have a seperate vanilla install for MP, like I guess was used for MP on 0.8. This is because the text files in the mod-folder "EBMP" will still be referencing the mod-folder "EB" for skins, models, etc. I don't know if this will cause instability, but today I couldn't get MP to work with Malik until I had a seperate MP install. There's probably a logical explanation, but before I had a seperate MP install, I did try just a new mod-folder like you explained, but that didn't work, which led me to think it's better to have a seperate install for MP. Of course, everything I just wrote is probably wrong...
