So what's everyone's thoughts on tonight? I'm hoping Spurs knock out Chelsea. Heck, they came close a few weeks back.
United to go through
Backing the Boro all the way, as is often the case, but they haven't got much
hope away from the Riverside. Have to want Chelsea to go through in the other
game, simply because they're the only ones who can stop your lot now.

Okay, so if you're a wannabe gooner like me, are you supposed to hate Spurs or Chelsea more?
I have a natural disdain for 'Chelski', but is the north London rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham supposed to overide that?

See my post. We leave the serious Chelsea rivalry to Fulham.
I think he did. It's way too fast to have been meant as an assist on Drogba.
His spell at Chelsea has been dismal, but we should not forget that Shevshenko is one of the game's greatest. Until this season he was right up there with Henry and Ronaldinho.

I'd go along with that result, although I think we could see a 2 - 1 in Israel's
favour. If nothing else, I think Israel will 'want' it more, and sometimes a good bit
of determination and desperation gets you half way there anyway.

it's clear he has to make that choice, because they just can't go together.

Two fixtures in particular stand out, one not only for obvious non-sporting
reasons, but also due to the teams being at the top of their group. Both
teams are as yet unbeaten, with 9 points, and have not conceded a single
goal.
The other one also involves group leaders and should provide a good
spectacle as well.

McClaren is an onanist of the first magnitude. Clueless, talentless, lacking in any imagination and vision. A hostage to the glittiari that currently runs through the national side. When he said that the team picked itself, he wasn't kidding. They do.
These pampered and filthy rich poseurs that bedevil the side need a swift kick up the bum. The team must be picked on merit, not on reputations. It wasn't enough to drop Becks as a token gesture to the fans. The whole team needs pruning from top to bottom.
No one should be an automatic shoo-in for the team. Sven has a lot to answer for and McClaren is tainted by association.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Wow. Well, I'll be honest, I'm not a huge football fan, I'm more of a baseball, basketball, and American football fan(I suppose growing up in America has something to do with it). However, I think it is truly incredible the amount of devotion that so many football fans have. For example, I went on a Germany/Austria/Switzerland/France trip during last summer, during the world cup. I was simply amazed at the fanfare of the event.
In Salzburg, Austria, the city square was simply, in a word, alive. I had never in my life before seen a city put up a massive screen in the square so that everyone could see the world cup. The screen was at least twenty feet by twenty feet. In Luzerne(sp?), Switzerland, my group just happened to be staying the night the exact night that Switzerland won a game in the cup. I thought the city was going to tear apart at the seams, people were absolutely going nuts. Also indicitive, I think, was that whenever I turned on a tv in the hotel, I would end up finding World Cup action on about 1/3 of the channels on a routine basis, even if there were no games actually going on at the time. Overall, it seemed like the Super Bowl type of fanfare, except multiplied by about ten.

Aye, go on then. As I see England haven't scored against Andorra no-one
would blame you.
Italy are 1 - 0. Extremely poor defending on a free kick, letting Toni get a free
header. Apart from that I have to say we had a couple of great chances just
before half-time and just didn't take them. Kenny Miller just doesn't take
chances all too often. He had a crucial chance against the Ukraine and he just
didn't do it. We need Boyd. Even Gary O'Connor, but Big Eck just left him out.
Have England on the radio and they seem to be woeful.
Northern Ireland have come from behind to lead against Sweden.

EURO 2008 qualifications
Serbia – Portugal 1 – 1
After blow up in Kazakhstan last Saturday :dizzy2:, our team played draw with favorite Portugal. Tiago scored superb goal in 5th minute, and in the first 20 minute Portugal was clearly better. Later our team went in great offensive and scored from corner. In second half Portugal dominated with several chances, but our goalkeeper saved net.
Good news is that Azerbaijan defeated Finland.:beam: Match with Kazakhstan is not for commenting. Most of players acted like manikins. They just did nothing. Anyway, I would congratulate Chelsea, and Mourinho. No matter how you feel
about him [and I tend to view him as a lesser evil] he gets the job done, even
when under extreme pressure. To beat Valencia at the Mestalla is not easy at
all, and they played excellent football in the second half. No, not excellent
flowing attacking football that destroyed Roma's shocking defence, but good
possession, fighting for every ball, and pushing them just enough right until
the last minute.
As for managerial comings-and-goings, Chris Coleman is gone from Fulham.
He's been replaced by Lawrie Sanchez [Norn Iron] up until the end of the season.
Poor, panic-induced decision, I'd say - and I certainly hope for the Northern
Irish national team's sake that it goes badly for Sanchez, so's he doesn't abandon
them as our national team coach did.

True. I watched match, and without blitz goals by Seville who knows what would happen. Anyway, I am glad that Seville advanced. So,
3 Spanish teams in UEFA Cup and
3 English teams in Champions League. :beam:

Re: Totenham - Seville
I find it kind of weird. England and Spain are the top teams in the UEFA rankings.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Both of you are right.
I'm reffering that neither Spain or England are in a good position to qualify, and also, the country rankings, based by points gathered up by clubs, indicated Spain and England on top.
