It wasn't checking because I didn't test in our game. I tested it from a Venice game where I was 1 territory from victory A lot faster that way because I had huge armies sitting around available to squash the Pope quickly.

Ok good point.

Re: Out of Character thread
I'm posting to let everyone know that I'll be on vacation from the evening of Monday Feb 19 to the night of Friday Feb 23. I will have internet access, at a surcharge, but as I do not have a laptop, I won't have access to the game.
I hope that this won't effect the PBM, but I need to escape the snow blasted hell-scape that is my home for a while.
Let me assure you that until I leave and when I return home, I will be fully active in the PBM.

Edit: Accidental double post, sorry, feel free to delete.

Re: Out of Character thread
Hi TC,
Thanks for the information link. I'm refreshing my memory from 2nd year History classes now.

Re: Out of Character thread
Now, I know why Otto doesn't want to fight any battles. :smash:
Have fun during your holiday and enjoy the trip!
-
Re: Out of Character thread
I will enjoy my vacation thanks!
Otto is perfectly willing to fight between now and Monday, he just feels that Leopold, in attaching his name to 3.7, is drawing him into some Machiavellian scheme hatched by the dear departed Conrad. :juggle2:
Also 3.7 would violate the spirit of 3.4. . .but I digress.

I need Dukes to set their building queues, otherwise, I'll be forced to start anyway.

Yes, do start - you can always pick up on build queues as and when they are sent in.
It would be good to have a master list of provinces and Counts.
This is my understanding so far:
Swabia:
Staufen - Prinz Henri
Metz - Count Sigismund der Stolze
Bern
Austria
Vienna - Duke Leopold
Prague
Franconia
Frankfurt - Duke Dietrich von Saxony
Hamburg
Stettin
Bavaria
Nuremburg - Sir Maximillan Mandorf
Innsbruck
Bologna
Imperial
Florence - Emperor Heinrich
I think TinCow may want to appoint Otto von Kassel as a Count. Also, Lucjan did not vote so it looks like he has effectively pulled out of this PBM, at least for a while. I don't mind keeping Dietrich for him in case he returns, but we can't leave Franconia leaderless. I propose FLYdude be appointed Steward of Franconia (by the Emperor); then he can make himself and Dutch_guy Counts, as well as manage Frankfurt in Lucjan's absence.

Re: Out of Character thread
On the question of FeldMarshalls, didn't Bern have 8 units in it? Surely that would mean that OverKnight(dlain) would have one major victory.
AussieGiant: Sorry about the maps. I will post lost of maps in my Chancellor Reports.

No problems Ignoramus. I have enough information to keep up with everything that is going on. The Chancellor reports are fine.

Actually, I'm a little confused about that. . .
This is what it says in the FAQ:
"An avatar who wins five major battles (each against 7+ enemy units) is promoted to Field Marshall."
This is what it says in the Table notes on top of the Chancellor reports thread:
"[3] Victory = number of major victories won under his command (vs 10+ enemy units)"
Which one is accurate? This might effect Ignoramus as well, how many Milanese units were there at the defense of Bern? Shouldn't Ignoramus be an Army Commander too?
-
Re: Out of Character thread
There were only 6 at Bern when I sallied.
Anyway, Sigismund's in a bit of trouble ATM. He's fighting outnumbered 8 to 1 in the Alps. Not good. However, he has an excellent defensive position.
Wish me luck - I'm going to need a lot of it.

Re: Out of Character thread
Aw geez, maybe we should have elected a vice-chancellor. :beam:
Good luck. :2thumbsup:
Edit: (referring to next post) Quick on the draw as usual econ, thanks.

Let's go with the FAQ; I'll change the table - yes, Sigismund is an army commander.

Re: Out of Character thread
Ok, it time for a "Huddle" to get this sorted out :beam:
The guy's seem to be in need of some titles and influence.

Ignore all that. everyone's very fast today. I should have refreshed.
Who are you fighting Ignoramus?
-
Re: Out of Character thread
I fought a Milanese general named Manno Galli. Econ knows the result, but I won't tell you. Oh, and there'll be a Chancellor report up shortly.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
I think you can let the cat out of the bag, Ignoramus. The Alps are pretty inaccessible places to fight, so the outcome is not so silly. I have to go incommunicado for the next 8 hours, so good luck with everything!
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Ok, I accidently deployed in an inaccessable position ~D , and the Milanese couldn't attack me. As a result, a gained a major victory over the Milanese.

Re: Out of Character thread
The spoiler for why you want an Emergency session is empty - I assume it's because of the crusade?
Only the Emperor or Prinz can call an emergency session - GH may disagree, but I don't think we need one. We don't have the boats to crusade to Tunis so the question is academic. Plus I doubt people would want us to attack our ally while we are busy in another war. I say just play on.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Ok, I guess I get to use my "discretion" here. Oh the perks of being Chancellor.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Hi Ignoramus,
I can't see two picture in the chancellor report.
The attack in the Alps by Manno Galli and the most important event that has taken place is from the Pope.
Do you know what could be the problem?
-
Re: Out of Character thread
I agree with econ, going on crusade against Tunis would violate our edict telling us to keep our alliance with Sicily.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
OverKnight, you have a battle against Milan. I'm uploading the save game now. It's kotr1122.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
All hail Chancellor Ignoramus the Rapid! :charge:
Barring any unforseen circumstances I should be able to get cracking on it now.
Edit: I have downloaded the save, it loads fine. I'm going offline to play it. Might take me a bit since I'm still not used to taking screenies while fighting.

Re: Out of Character thread
Hell this is going fast!!
Excellent. Seems I need to take my work Laptop home for the weekend.

Re: Out of Character thread
I have decided I loathe Genoese crossbowmen. Missile troops should go squish when you hit them with cavalry and not fight like rabid Spartans.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
I've updated the Table with our influence, activity and stats. I need to hear confirmation about the possible appointment of Dutch_guy and Overknight as Counts.
Also, how are we treating Stewards in terms of influence: +2 like a Duke or +1 like a Count? I'm working on the latter assumption and have also put down FLYdude as the Steward as Franconia.
I have taken DMu off the list; there are some other pretty inactive players who probably should come off too. We may need more players - 10 votes cast this session was rather low - but I will hold recruitment until every active player has an avatar.
PS: For future reference, please can you avoid png format images in the battle report thread, please, Ignoramus? I think they are much larger than jpg format and take for ages to load.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Thanks for the update. DMu has written me two PMs over the last weeks excusing his absence. Since no further participation has been coming from him I'm ok with you taking him off. It's not like he can't join again anytime and the post of Third Elector of Austria is vacant anyhow.
You missed to update AussieGiants activity though, as he has participated in the last voting. I would not be opposed to have at least one more player for the House of Austria. I can't even get my own Edicts passed.
Of course not having an avatar might not be incentive enough to join the game, so I'm fine if we wait a little.

Re: Out of Character thread
I can switch houses if necessary. In Swabia we have five of us and as im the fifth,if you guys think that would help balance the factions,i can kill my old character and move houses.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
To be honest I have thought of that possibilty after looking at the overview table, but then I had my doubts. Warluster and Grande Orso have not been that active lately and more importantly I have come to know and like you as one of the adversaries of the House of Austria and you make up a considerate part of the way I see the House of Swabia within the game. I wouldn't find it appropriate to have you suddenly switch sides, in my mind.
Still I'm thankful for your offer and when Warluster and Grande Orso become more active and no Third Elector turns up for Austria, I would be honoured if you still wanted to switch House.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Yep, we definitely need to recruit.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Econ, you're the nearly the most organised guy I know at writing posts. Thanks for all the update work.
Good job OverKnight!!
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Due to a bout of insomnia, my battle report is up early.
Edit: I'll take Innsbruck as my county, it's familiar and doesn't sound like it's lunch meat.
-
Re: Out of Character thread
Oh, and OverKnight and econ21, you are Army Commanders now. I did post this in my Chancellor report, but I thought you might not see it.
Edit: I have no idea, AussieGiant. I don't know if econ knows what the problem is. I'm not the best at putting up screenshots, unfortunately.

Re: Out of Character thread
20 pages is long enough for a thread and with a new Chancellor now is as good a time as any to start a new one. Let's continue this here:
