I too just woke up so I am confused as to whether this is a serious question or rhetorical. The RP/LARP nerd in me would love to prattle on at length about the difference between OOC and IC but I suspect that your asking the question to make a joke about how we are all probably not very different from our characters. :laugh4:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Ok, apparently the game looks normal in widescreen if you check the widescreen box (who woulda thunk it?). Hopefully I will get it working properly and the Library will be spared a shift into stretchyland.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Yes, PK sorry I didn't emote or something to indicate that. Of course there's a difference between OOC and IC... our IC counterparts eat sauerkraut and sausages for breakfast every morning!

I'd hope there are a few more differences between us and our characters than that. :laugh4:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Woo, nice hardware there TC, and OK, if there's any marriage offers for Kordula, take them.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
GH: any preferences about a new avatar? You had mentioned Jens Hummel, but there is also the possibility of having another recruitable Bavarian and a few more spares.

edit: add voice inflection to indicate this is a joke!
What are you referring to Tamur? :inquisitive:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I'll stick with Jens Hummel.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Great, now Wolfgang can interact with Jens.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Yeah, its weird playing a character that has a brother by blood that you can't interact at all with.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I'd like some time before I think of any possible interactions. Ideally I'd like to finish the battle report before I decide anything.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Too bad about Salier. I hate to see a good man take the fall for a good story, even a fictional one Still, it's worth it to give the Mongol's a chance since three flawless victories in a row would be pretty boring.
Now I'm wondering how different the Timurids will be, as I've had little experience with them.

I predict the Timurids will probably whip the !@#$ out of us. Their "panzerphants" will be avatar killers. I only hope I have an avatar in Outremer when they come. It will be great fun! :beam:
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I certainly hope we are still playing when the New World and the Timurids come on line.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Timurids aren't so bad because you get to recruit elephant mercs yourself by that time. Besides, elephants love flaming ballista.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
mercphants are fun but their reload time is so slow I can only get two of each kind in my SP games. And I end up losing them due to attrition.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
GH, put a placeholder for your battle. I've got a report of my own coming up.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
You are supposed to use them to defend your line, not to storm the enemy's
As I said, once you get the Timurid's elephants to run amok, you can sit back for the next 30 mins and watch some carnage before you go in for the kill.
Oh, that of course means that you need to be attacker, not defender.
[edit]
OK You still need to respond to the letter

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Battle report up. I'm going to bed.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I'm not trying to be rude but are we all 10 star generals?
It seems FH's fixes turn everyone into a Demi-god very quickly.
Am I misinformed or does that not seem to be the case?

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Love the battle report GH!!
:2thumbsup:
Feels like I was there. :beam:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X

The star progression is just about the same as in normal M2TW (with the exception that some bad governing or inheritance traits are somewhat rarer resulting in overall slightly higher ratings) with the recent update to 1.27, where the GoodCommander thresholds were upped to slightly above default levels. As I said in that announcement, this will mainly affect low star generals and hold higher star generals at their current level longer.
It is quite normal even in vanilla to have 10 stars when attacking or defending due to the various circumstancial boni involved. Usually, generals who had several battles will have between 3-6 command stars displayed when static.

Thanks for the explination FH.
Not sure if my next story is going over the top. Let me know. I have some spare time right now so I'm getting creative.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
That is quite supernatural AG. Not unheard of in tales though, so its not too over the top.

Good work on the battle reports and stories, everyone!
As previously discussed, I am allocating Helmut von Hamburg to Kagemusha, although he can decline.

I just rewrote my latest story.
It takes me ages to fix up fiction writing no matter how many times I proof read it before posting.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
Excellent story AG, extremely creepy and sinister without any hint of fantasy about it. It reminded me of a collection of medieval russian folktales I read many years ago.
And yes, we're getting some great battle reports & the story thread is a wonderful read just now. Nothing like a dead King to get the writing going.
edit: good heavens Hans, you may want to spot the enemy a couple hundred casualties to leave them a bit of their honour! ~:)

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
So what's happening with that recruited general?

Wow - that result certainly supports CAs planned rebalancing to weaken cavalry. It's a shame the rebalancing will only apply to Kingdoms, not the grand campaign. It would have been good if the 1.3 patch allowed us to apply it here.

On the other hand look what happens when one of them dies. :laugh4:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I'll make a couple hours avaiable tonight to get my battle fought (8-10 hours from now).
Do I have the legal authority to march on Naples After my battle?

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
well, we said we'd counterstrike at sicily if they attacked us, didnt we? i say go for it.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I would say that a rebalance is needed after the shield fix, but not in the form of Lusted's suggestions, which makes everything easier to kill (pretty much pre fix levels) by upping everyone's attack and lowering defense for many units.
Cav is supposed to be stronger than infantry and not just for rear charges which can be stopped smartly even in the last second.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread X
I'll also be fighting mine later, as usual around 05 of 06 GMT.
