Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
If a small club plays that well, I see no reason to turn against them simply because they're getting what
they deserve. It's about time something was shaken up - TSG Hoffenheim are doing it in Germany, but
Hull don't have anything like their funds, so the achievement is even greater.
As for Spurs, it's just a continuation of the joke, isn't it? Comolli should have been axed before Jol;
not because there's anything fundamentally wrong with having a Director of Football, but for his
incompetence alone. They'll never learn.
Defoe back off to London, then?
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
I always enjoy the club on a good run after just getting promotion, a top four place is dreamland, but there is no chance they will be top four come the end of the season.
Good move for Tottenham i think, don't understand what went wrong with jaunde, i expected more, i think redknapp will pick them up soon enough, they have a good team and the chairman seems willing to spend money, i think redknapp will do well there over a few seasons....
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Much of Ramos' success at Sevilla was due to having a first class Sporting Director / Director of Football
/ Whatever you Choose to Call it working with him [and with the players in the team.] However at Spurs
a manager has Damien Comolli at his back, and that's never going to work. From feeling the league, [and
Arsenal's points tally] would be terribly diminished by losing Tottenham, I have to say, I would love it if
they go down now. Love it.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Arsenal fans place far too much importance on playing good football. It provides little consolation when you don't win anything. In the end, it's points that count. And, right now, Liverpool: top of the league. :beam:
Can't blame Liverpool or Rafa for deciding to defend when you're 1-0 up at Stamford Bridge.

If liverpool finish above united or chelski ill eat my hat!
In all seriousness the two big teams liverpool have beaten (utd + chelski) they have beaten by a goal and not very convincingly, and if you look at the way united and chelsea have been playing the last few weeks they have been on fire, whereas liverpool seem to be scraping by, liverpool seem to have the knack of grabbing the scrappy 3 points recently but they need the same kind spark in attack that chelsea and united seem to have...
I have a friend who's a liverpool fan and i swear we go through this every year! last year after liverpool beat derby 6-0 it was liverpool's year, torres was going to bring the premership home for them...
Edit: 2,500th post! :balloon: :balloon: :balloon:

It's only October.
With only 9 (yes, 9!!!) games played. Another 29 to go.

It's the points that counts, besides, Liverpool is able to get the points without even playing good, isn't that a good thing?

I know, but don't I deserve a chance to get excited too?

¿Qué? Lemur's got to read 1326 pages of Euro footy talk? :laugh4:
Shall I volunteer to mod this thread? Then it's warning point galore for those who dare even mention Italian football.
AS Roma? One point.
The squadra azurri? Two.
Materazzi? Instagib.

Well Liverpool fans always get excited this time of year and then they do badly and the wheels fall off the league campaign wagon.
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
I can't see Liverpool winning it, its Hull for me.

Exactly, i think liverpool fans should wait until they've shown some longer term consistency before claiming the title (get excited by all means) i just hope all those thinking liverpool can win it this year aren't betting men... for thier own sake...

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Wait, is this universal football thread or Premiership League thread?
What about Mourinho the Great and his Inter team with reborn Adriano?
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
By all means, please bring up whatever trivial leagues take your fancy; it certainly adds variety and
should hopefully stop the thread descending under a sea of pseudo-Scouse tears from our emergent
section of Liverpool-friendly posters when they inevitably bottle it around Christmas.
[In all seriousness, you'll find regular posters bringing up their own domestic leagues every so often, and
I do prefer to post anything of interest to me in leagues I see around Europe. That said, it might not
necessarily generate as much discussion as the cash cow league, and you might also find opinion
skewed somewhat against Italian football- at least amongst the bitter ones like myself. As it is, I don't
watch Serie A anymore, and for that you can thank the brilliant minds behind their marketing and
sales ensuring it isn't broadcast here or anywhere I can steal pictures from. Highlights though, yes.]
If nothing else I know that Jose isn't feeling the love, poor soul that he is.

Bah, hate Mourinho, dislike Inter and indifferent toward Adriano. If it were up to me, Mourinho would be the guy that collects the ball after the practice. But the only thing I dislike more than him is the Premiership so I'd welcome any change, even if it's about Mourinho. :laugh4:

I heard Red Star wants Vukcevic (From Sporting), it'd be a great acquisition, were it not the fact that he ALWAYS wants to play (I wonder if it includes when he's injuried?)
Anyways, my "reborn" Adriano just got left out of the selected ones for the next match, for having arrived at training. :-x
Has anyone been seeing the terrific campaign (More like terrifying, really) that Portugal has been doing for WC qualifiers? Anyone seen the sad figure our "captain" made towards the public, while playing at home?

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Go Spurs!
Games like that are what makes football the greatest sport in the world! :2thumbsup:

That would be a great news for Sporting :laugh4:.
Vukcevic does have some talent, but it's wasted with his on pitch attitude. When he was playing for Partizan, he insisted that his shirt number be 1. He head to take every free kick, every penalty kick. I don't like him. I'm glad he decided to play for Montenegro, our idiots may have called him up to play for national team.

Well there's still a lot of time and Portugal has some excellent players. Besides Portugal, I don't have a high opinion about other teams. So, I'm willing to bet that Portugal qualifies from that group.
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Well, 40% of the qualifiers have been played. Now Portugal has to win practically every match to go through.
Another player in trouble in Sporting is your National Team's Goal Keeper Stojkovic. His attitude didn't help either.
He happened to have to stay some more time with the National Team last year, and our coach started betting on our youngster GK. (As the entire world knows, Sporting produces the best players in the world)

Rui Patricio?
I signed him on FM! :cool4:
-
Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
Yeah, that would be him. He has a lot of potential, but he has also made a lot of mistakes so far. There's start to be increasing criticism and pressure to put Stojkovic back on the team, saying Rui Patricio is too inexperienced. I wouldn't mind if Stoj was back in the goal for another shot.

Re: LEN Teh Footy God's Footballodium
The Home Nations have agreed not to select players on the basis of anything other than 'bloodlines'.
This obviously rules out Almunia [not much loss there] and Arteta for England, and Novo for Scotland,
thankfully.
Of course, should mention that Maradona's first game in charge of Argentina will be in Scotland. He's
already been making the right noises: "I'm going to a country where they adore me because of the
goal against the English. The English and the Scots get on horribly; serious bad blood."
Though to that I would say, I don't adore him, and I never have. He was terrible in his brief time as a
manager before, [yes, his players are slightly better now] and I can only hope that through some miracle
we do them at Hampden, just to wipe that grin off the wee fat man's face. [Alright, I might limit my hopes
to us scoring first, before they thrash us and he hops about on the touchline like a demented midget.]
