Oh well, it's no big deal. A text editor is sufficient. The only reason I wanted to open it in a proper editor is because it's easier on the eyes.
I have a new problem.
This time it's a performance issue.
I have MTW with VI and obviously the BKB supermod.
I have changed the mod so that the English have the Knights of St Thomas Acre in all era campaigns, and the English can build Norman Knights in the high era campaign aswell crusade in the Late Era campaign.
My computer specs:
Intel Pentium 4 2ghz
256 MB RAM
32 MB Sis 650 Video Card
Now on to the actual problem.
Whenever I start a new or load a saved campaign, the game freezes on the campaign map screen and the only way to get out of it would be a to do a soft shut down of my laptop (press and hold down the power button for several seconds).
It's never done this before, in fact the game ran smoothly with no problems ever since I first purchased the MTW-VI bundle a couple of years ago. I know the mod isn't the problem since I've had no problems playing with BKB's masterpiece installed.
I've uninstalled the game completely and cleared out Total War from my registry since I won't be playing the game for the time being, and I'm hesitant to reinstall everything since I don't really know what the problem is.
Has anyone encountered this obstacle before? Do you have any ideas BKB? (or anyone else for that matter)
Oh, and I'm running Windows XP with SP2
I'm not sure mate, it is very weird for it to freeze like that. Where does it freeze exactly and what files did you edit when making changes
It just freezes on the campaign map (regardless of what part of the map I'm viewing).
I edited files:
Early Units file
High Units file
Late Units file
Late Buildings file
I don't exactly know the complete file names however, they're basically the txt files you edit if you want to add units or enable factions to build certain units and buildings.
Granted I'm in my first turn, but I started a Byzantine campaign in Super Early, I'm looking in the building que and I see no way to upgrade your castle.
Whattup with that?
StoneMasons I believe is your answer, a new thing I implemented. In turn they lower the time and costs of building a Castle.
Ahh thanks!
Hi Folks,
How do I install this mod?
I tried naming a folder in C:\, C:\Program Files\BKB Total War.
I then installed MTW, MTW V 1.1 patch & then MTW:VI.
I then installed the 2.0 patch & then the 2.1 patch in order.
Viola! Nothing happened insofar as the BKB super mod appearing.
I then tried doing the same but only installing MTW, the MTW v 1.1 patch then 2.0 and 2.1 patch.
Viola, again! Nothing happened.
How do I properly install the BKB super mod fully please?
I have HTW which uses the default: C:\Program Files\Total War\MTW
Is THAT where its' supposed to go or do I create a new folder within the C:\Program Files\Total War folder only?
I don't know if the King himself is away or not, that's why I post here.
Thanks, Hellas1 (Na Zisi I Ellada-means "Long Live Greece")
:furious3: Funny huh...I'm not really mad it just looks cute!
Try 'C:\Program Files\BKB Total War\Medieval - Total War' as a folder. When you get round to installing the mod, make sure it intalls into the 'BKB Total War' folder. That should work mate.
Sir,
Do I install MTW or MTW & VI? Please.
Thanks.
P.S. Thank you for your time in making this mod and for talking w/me.
I appreciate you sir.
Hellas,
Install MTW and VI. It works only for VI.
BTW, long live the Byzantines! :charge: ~D
Thank you as well sir for your kindness.
I agree, Long live the Byzavtivoi! (From an ethnic Greek)
The Turks called then "Rum" or "Rumeli"
Long live the Byzantium Mod! Go for it man!
See you.
Hello again sirs,
I made the folder C:\Program Files\BKB Total War\Medieval - Total War.
I installed MTW & VI in the MTW sub folder & installed the mod in the
BKB Total War folder as I was told by BKB himself.
Nothing happens at all. 3 new folders show in BKB folder: Loc, Campmap, and Textures, along w/6 text documents.
What went wrong? & Do I use the MTW cd or the VI cd?
Thanks.
Hey folks,
Good news, I think it's working!
I played quick battle and chose super late and it gave me multiple options.
I don't know about the Deadpage thing though.
But it seems the mod's installed and it's BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!
BLIND KING, THIS IS THE WAY MEDIEVAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
THANK....YOU.......SIR!!! OWWWWWWWWWW!
Great, let me know if you have any problems.
Guess it pays off to work hard one year to create a good modification. ~:)
Hello friends,
I love this mod! It should be marketed and sold!
This is how medieval SHOULD HAVE been made!
I have encountered some bugs:
1. While playing Quick Battle, Historic Battle, Custom Battle, I've encountered some graphical glitches:
A. When people, knights, horses are walking or running a strange colored rectangular box appears before them or behind them, if together as a unit!
Ex. In the Historic Battle where it's 3 vs 1 -Sorry, can't remember the HB.
B. When people, knights, horses are moving they also disappear!
Ex. In Quick battles, In Custom Battles
C. When p,k, or h are moving there is a "double" of them when you scroll down close enough to view them up close.
Ex. See graphical glitch A & B
My Nvidia card has 128 mb on it and it has the most current driver and the sound card has the most current driver.
I have my settings on 1024 x 760 for both maps
Medium unit size
50 for pyrotechnics
Smoke is on
Ambient (something) is on also.
Could you help me in fixing this or am I screwed up?
thanks everyone, Hellas1 (a pretty much $$ poor university student for now!)
Long Live The Blind King of Bohemia & Byzantium (Kovstavtivoupoli)!!!
OWWWWWWWWWWWW! YES!
Ah yes, please don't use Quick Battle or Historic Battles with the mod in place. I hope to fix Historical Battles at some point.
I understand sir, thank you.
Long Live BKB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~
Heya, I just downloaded Medieval Total XL, and I think its awesome, this looks better (without any disrespect to Viking from Xl- you sir are a King)
I was wondering, could someone provide a full list of every playable faction in the supermod? I'd like to see it, including pre-existing factions. Then I can decided which I prefer. :):)
Being a history buff, factions are everything
Tom
BKB I'm haven some props gettin your mod in. I've played it before but never tried to put it on my new install on my newer pc with ur current setup. I have the most up to date version of MTW and no other mods install. I download ur mod and it installs, I put it in the directory where it says and all but the mod wont work, the game still runs but its like I never installed it.
Any ideas? thanks m8 :charge:
Check the first post in this thread, Minikiller. You may have it installed in the wrong parent directory. The auto-installer is set to install it to the /total war/medieval total war directory. You have to manually change the install path to install it just to the /total war directory.
I'll double check but I'm pretty sure I manually changed the directory. thanks
Hi BKB, I downloaded your Mod v 2.0 but I'm unable to download the 2.1 patch, the link seems not working to me...is there another way to get it?
Hmm, you're right its not working for me either. I'll contact Tosa and see what the problem is. For now I'm not sure if these is an alternative link.Quote:

Is there any possibility of a glorious achievments version if you can for example-make a sperate version that is just early era that plays right through?
Many thanks.
