Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
And the annual Dallas Cowboys December collapse begins...
Watched the Saints-Skins game. Skins should have won it, Saints pulled it out in OT. After all the breaks, I can only think that the Redskins are suffering from bad karma. Case for:
- After stuffing the Saints and forcing a punt, the Saints' punter shanks it so badly that it comes down on top of a Skins blocker, recovered by the Saints and the drive continues.
- The interception/return/fumble/return for TD combo platter of the day for another Saints touchdown. Reviewed for about 5 minutes. Complete stomach punch for the Skins.
- A missed field goal from 23 yards by the Skins that would have sealed it.
- The fumble in OT. Maybe I'm not clear on the rules, but no one can challenge in OT, booth review only. So Payton calls the TO to get a review. Fine, no problem there. But look back at the play: balls comes out, Saints' player pick it up, and then ....? Official call on the field was down by contact, but the Saints player that recovered it was never down. How can the review give the ball to the Saints, when that scenario would result in an unfinished play?
It's obvious that the football gods have it in for the Redskins this year. Maybe it's the team name, maybe it's the sign-banning, maybe it's just the accumulation of crap that the owner has pulled over the years. But it's apparent that Snyder needs to sacrifice Vinny Cerrato. Preferably in a slow and painful manner.

It just got worse -- much worse.
With the possible exception of Jared Allen, I can't imagine another player injury leaving as huge a gap in our defense as Henderson. This is going to hurt us badly....

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
Jared allen is my favorite viking, because of the way he makes up bogus schools during the introduction.
"Jared allen--culinary academy"
"Jared allen--Home schooled. Thanks, mom."

It seems like Farve may be returning to last year's late season fade. Two interceptions! Let me tell you, I recognized it as the old "Farve trying to force things" when his team was down. Some sad times for the packers. But now you have him! BWAHAHAHAHA!

Holy...
So "Jersey Shore" wasn't the biggest train wreck of the night then?
-
Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
It was actually a really fun game. Just didn't expect the steelers to get into a "battle of field position" with the browns.
8 sacks by the browns.

What is happening to my beloved Steelers? Their season has gone down the crapper so quickly it's left my head spinning. :dizzy2:

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
8 penalties and calling a 2 yard pass with 18 seconds left in our own territory? :wall:
-
Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
What a weird Eagles-Giants game going on right now. Back and forth, blocked PATs, blown coverage, turnovers galore... :dizzy2:
37-31 Eagles right now, but we'll see how long that lasts. I've never seen this much scoring in an Eagles-Giants game before.
-
Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
45-38. Crazy game. We gave up 505 yards and still won.
I'll take it though. First place in the East! :2thumbsup:

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
That was a great game, 880 yards of offense, a punt return td and a fumble recovery td.
-
Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
A little difficult to watch the Giants in this game. Even though they scored 38 points, there were some early mistakes that really hurt them.
*EDIT* Still excited for the Niners Cardinals game tomorrow, even if the Niners are out of the playoffs bid!

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
Well it wasn't pretty, but at least the Vikings did pull off with a win. I'm extremely glad Winfield is back and in fine form, but I'm still doubtful about the defense now that Henderson's out the rest of the season.
Oh, and just let me be the first to say to Sasaki: Neener-neener. ~;p

The bengals have a way to go before they can compete in the playoffs :juggle2:
Well, we need a third cornerback and a passing game. I think harvin would have had a big day against us if he could have played.
Benson would have broken your 100 yard rusher streak if they hadn't taken him out toward the end though :tongue3:

@Sasaki: Also, good gods! The Palmer-Ochosinco pair is bloody dangerous whenever the latter manages to get open. It made me gladder than ever that Winfield was finally playing again. :sweatdrop:

Well, give credit where credit is due: The Chargers are a decent team. It's not like Dallas lost to Tampa Bay or Cleveland; now that really *would* be cause for concern....

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
Man, watching AZ vs SF was almost... painful, like watching a blind boxer thrash about.
I'm not a big AZ fan, but I admire K. Warner. 11 penalties, 7 turnovers, and I lost track of how many sacks. Yikes! Still, if you're gonna have some bad days, I guess it's best to have them all on one day.
Thursday game again this week, gents. Pick'em early & pick 'em often.:laugh4:
-
Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
Don't forget gentlemen: We have approximately 26 hours left to get our picks in.
For a rarity, there's only two games this week that have me nervous about the picks I've made. Not that there aren't a lot of games that could easily go either way -- this season has proved that there's no shortage of those on any given weekend :sweatdrop: -- but win or lose, I'm actually feeling okay about most of the match-ups this time around.

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
A big week for you, me, and Sasaki. There's a lot that can go wrong this week. Two undefeated teams that are usually no-brainer picks, but can they continue to beat the law of averages? Pittsburgh, NY Giants, New England reeling with injuries to key players. Cleveland vs Kansas City, Detroit vs Atlanta, Tampa Bay vs Seattle, ummm yuck. Good luck, gentlemen. I'd rather be lucky than good any day, especially this week.

I think my early success was due to the bengals success :laugh4:
I keep picking who I want to win, doesn't always turn out well.

Re: Official 2009-10 NFL thread
ah the pack strikes again, quite a different team then from the beginning of the season. number one wild card here we come

Well luck has had at least as much to do with my picks as skill, so I shan't disagree with that statement. ~D
And good luck to you guys as well. It's a tight race so far.
