Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Basileus, I feel like I'll be forced to take over if we can't start to move this along soon.
I'll give you 24 hours, I just don't want this thing to die on the vine.
If no response is recieved by then, I'll have to take the save over. We've been on your term for something like 2 weeks now guy, and I understand they're was quite a bit of save-swapping for battles going on, but its still moving far too slowly.
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Due to lack of participation, I feel the need to confiscate Basileus term.
Sorry, guy, but I just couldn't wait any longer. I still encourage you to remain in the game, and hope there is no hard feelings....I'm just trying to keep this thing form dying completely.
So, I'll go over the save this evening, and any questions/concerns I have for the council will be submitted before I begin my term....
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
please take note of post #230 (recruitment) and post #234 (buildings and taxes) thank you:beam:

Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Sorry guys, but real life has taken a little more of my time this week than I would like.
I have looked the save over, and may have a few resoulutions for the council. I don't have much time right this minute, but I should have more free time later tonite, and hopefully we can actually move this along.
Stay tuned...
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
sounds good, tuned I shall stay
now that I'm back and ready to play

Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Ok, let's organize things here, for the sake of my sanity...
Hmmmm....:book:
Ok, a comprehensive list of all of our governors follows...
Areus Eurypontidos Lakedaimonios (Bootsiuv), Governor of Sparte
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...reus266aut.jpg
Akrotatos Eurypontidos Lakedaimonios (Spoofa), Governor of Demetrias
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...atos266aut.jpg
Chremonides Aithalidos Attikos (EasternScourge), Governor of Athenai
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...ides266aut.jpg
Doros Aithalidos Attikos (Nikolaus), Governor of Chalkis
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...oros266aut.jpg
Epeius Halikarnassios (Basileus Seleukeia), Governor of Korinthos
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...eius266aut.jpg
Still waiting for an in-game character:
Sassem
Glenn
madmatg
KuKulzA*
I ask that all players "sign in" within 48 hours, so we can determine who exactly is still in this, and if any characters need to be moved.
*If I've forgotten anyone or made any errors, please don't hesitate to let me know. As always, new players are encouraged to join at any time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We currently have over 22000 mnai in our treasury(Basileus Seleukeia left us in a good way), and I have determined that we can gain over 3000 mnai by selling unnecessary materials from the old Makedonian Administration and Military-Industrial Complex in Demetrias.
Our army is quite delapidated, with most units at 25% - 50% strength. I recommend we consolidate our position and make buiding the next level of factional MIC in Athenai our top priority. This MIC will take 2 years, 3 months to construct, so the building won't be finished until the next hegemons term. This is why we must lay the foundations in the first days of my term.
It will give us access to some excellent troops....
https://i195.photobucket.com/albums/...Skeuotheke.jpg
Amongst the most exciting are the Thureophoroi...
https://www.europabarbarorum.com/i/u...ureophoroi.gif
...and a new hoplite which draws inspiration from our Makedonian Oppressors to the North, these troops are named after the General who perfected them, Iphikrates, and are known as the Iphikratous Hoplitai...
https://www.europabarbarorum.com/i/u...s_hoplitai.gif
In the meantime, we should send a few divisions at a time back to Athenai to be refitted and reinforced. New divisions from other cities can and will be recruited.
I will try to limit my recruiting in Sparte, and also plan on turning the taxes to low (if they aren't already), to promote growth and lay the foundation for future divisions of Spartiatai.
My 2nd priority will be building the necessary infrastructure to supply our armies with the Hippeis Thessalonikas which will give us access to a much needed heavy cavalry wing.
https://www.europabarbarorum.com/i/u...hessalikoi.gif
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I assume few, if any, offensive battles will take place during my term, as our combined field army is something like less than 50% of it's full strength.
We will hold the line at Demetrias, and I will bring up additional units of Hoplitai Haploi/Akontistai/Ekdremoi Hoplatai to strengthen our defenses.
I plan on setting up my successor to take the war to Makedonia Proper, where we will crush their skulls on our Hoplons. :smash:
Thoughts, criticism, and general comments are encouraged from anyone, not just those playing the game.
To those who are playing along, please remember to chime into this thread and let me know that you're still active.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some general information for newer members of the council....
We are playing with R:TW v. 1.5 with EB v. 0.81a V2 (also known as v. 0.82)
We are using a script provided by Spoofa which can be found at http://files.filefront.com/City+mod+.../fileinfo.html (This is a slightly modified script which incorporates City Mod (Thanks to MarcusAureliusAntoninus) and AI Balancing Mod(Thanks to Redmeth and mlp071).
We are using the Formation Mod which can be found at https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=86904 (another thanks to mlp071 for updating Darth's fantastic formations for EB).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll give 48 hours for people to check in, and partake in any discussions/debates, then I'll begin my term.
Long live the Koinon.:smash:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
im here, like the plan my soon to be born person gives full agreement!
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
I'm still alive! Wow,didn't know my guy had that much management skill.Probably from staying in Athens the entire game so far.'
Anyways,I fully support getting the next MIC in Athens,if just for the Classic Hoplites and Hoplite Phalanxes. While I don't enjoy having to hold off the invasion,I can live with it sinve our troops in such bad condition. However,I do think we need to start increasing our trade rights, and so it might be good to create a pair of diplomats. One goes west, the other east.

-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
I'm so terribly sorry that I slipped out for that long time. To be honest to you, I just forgot about this.:embarassed: I'm not holding a grudge against anyone of you for ending my term, as it was completely my fault. From now on, I will daily check this thread. At least I'm happy that my canny term has allowed us to get high-level barracks now:laugh4:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
No worries, bro.
I'm glad you're still playing along. :2thumbsup:
Your term was very successful, yes. The Koinon is wealthier and more powerful than ever before.
@Sassem
Those pictures are directly from the unit pics at the Europa Barbororum official website.
Thanks to Chirurgeon for the idea.

Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Ya know guys....I have this strange feeling 1.0 is coming out very soon...
We will have to decide if we'll continue with this game in v.0.82, or if we'll start a new succession game in 1.0.
While it's a little disheartening to think about leaving this thing in the past before it every really got going, I think we've learned a lot on what things work well, and those which may be a little too complicated.
For now, we'll continue playing as normal.
As soon as 1.0 comes out, I'll likely start a poll.
A 1.0 Qarthadastim Succession game would probably be a lot of fun...
Just thought I would run that by you guys, so you can begin to think about it a little.

I was wondering for that to maybe it's wise to have this one going and start also a new one

*Contemplates trying to organize two succession games (which would require two completely different builds of EB, mind you), write an aar, work, take care of 2 year old, prepare for newborn in 3 weeks, etc. etc. etc....*
I am not superman friend.:laugh4: :sweatdrop:
I think a succession game with 1.0 will likely be the way to go....I hate to say it, but how can we pass up all of those great new features?
Who knows, it might not be out for a few weeks, but I've already said this succession game was more of a 'logistical experiment', if you will.
We'll go with what the majority of players would like to do, but I'm leaning towards starting a new one in 1.0.
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
:laugh4: :laugh4: Ok
It was from a bachelor view
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
I am still around always =P
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
I think I'll be in, but it depends on whether all these new gimmicks and scripts murder my pc, which already has problems. Well, the only real problems occur when I play battles with huge setting, but large just seems so... small:laugh4: But I think this old baby can handle this!
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Well, I'm going to start the term (1.0 coming soon and all, when it's out, we'll address what to do next).
Still waiting for Glenn and Nikolaus to sign in....but we'll move along for now, and if something requires one of their characters to do something in game, they'll be given 48 hours to complete the battle, and if they don't respond they'll forfeit their character and move to the end of the line.
Well....the autumn of 266 BC beckons, so I'm off. My term might be fairly uneventful, but we'll see...
:2thumbsup:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Probably won't be as uneventful as mine was, epsecially considering mine was such a lul between two warmongering ones (slightly kiddding on that). Then again,I've always been a culture and economic kind of guy, which is why I never win Civilization on multiplayer.
Anyways,I say we deal with 1.0 whenever it comes out.
Also, for the next week I'll be in Ohio and will be unable to participate in any battles. However,I can still come to council and debate.
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Bolon of Rhodios has-a nooo experience of discussing in the forum!
I am waiting until my father should give to me his young horse, Papriakos, and I as soon as I am old enough, I will go to be part of his cavalry!
(I will promise from now on to return here at least every two days to the forum, even if only to check up on this - I recommend starting afresh with the new version, as this thread has become jumbled and confusing.
But until then, carry on, lest the life of Bolon should be cut short at too early an age!)
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Agreed....the next game will be a little more strict....I fully intend on having an incharacter thread, and an out-of-character thread....This one started out this way....but, it just was sort of lost in mix.
What I wouldn't give for mod powers in this forum....maybe I'll ask MAA to help us keep our next game a little more tidy .i.e out of character responses in the in character thread will be moved, etc, etc, etc. :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
try to have participants show their in game character's name in their signature
it'll make things far more easier for mods
and it puts you in the right mood for role play
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Euginios Rhodios rises carefully from his seat and looks at every councilor in turn.
"Our oracles speak of a mysterious force that may forever alter our world as if the Titans will return and fight with our gods once more. But I say, we shall fight and reclaim Hellas until that day comes. And then, screw Hellas, I'm sailing to Kart-Hadast.... it got a port BIGGER than Rhodos... got a population BIGGER than Rhodos... and got problems BIGGER than Rhodos... and got a need for amazing generals who'll be paid BIGGER than in Rhodos...
Who's with me! Kionon Hellenon now, and when the world is renewed in version 1, Safot Softim biQarthadast...."
:2thumbsup:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
LOL!
Screw Hellas? Never, friend. :2thumbsup:
All joking aside, I was thinking Safot Softim biQarthadast as well. We might even be able to attract a few new Carthie fans for shits and giggles.
On a completely different note, Makedonia is now at war with Pontos, so I'm sending an ambassador to work out a ceasefire/alliance.
Is this course of action acceptable to the council?
*wonders if he was the only one who didn't know we were at war with Pontos*
I've also began construction of a granary in Chalkis, bolstered our spy/diplomat network considerably, and am retraining our field army piece-meal. The Hoplitai will have to wait until our MIC in Athenai is complete before they can be retrained.
I'm also considering upgrading farms in Rhodos to very productive farming.
I'll wait a little while for anyone to chime in with any suggestions and/or concerns, then I'll finish my term and write a battle report of sorts so you guys can have a look-see at what's going on....
I haven't heard from Nikolaus in some time, but if he hasn't had a term yet, he's up after me. If he has had a term, or just doesn't come back, Sassem gets to go next.
On a side note, I can't wait for Areus to kick the bucket so I can have a strapping young lad and actually play a battle. :laugh4:
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Oh, for a second there I thought u were talking about my character :inquisitive:
lol
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
We were at war with Pontus?Anyways, everything you said for the rest of your term looks fine to me.
-
Re: Council of the Koinon Hellenon
Heh, it's funny that I said that. I died.
As soon as I pressed end turn for the last time to lead into autumn of 264....I recieved a message that Areus was dead. A fitting end to quite an old fart, who never really did poop for the Koinon except sit on his arse in sparte and count the flowers in the meadows. :laugh4:
Anyways, I've finished my term....I'l probably do a detailed write up tomorrow. I'm going to go continue my Sabyn campaign. It's good, very good.
On an unrelated topic, what would people think about a Romani 1.0 succession game? I know, I know, 'Will of the Senate', but, it might be kind of cool to try and rebuild the roman empire (and the new Roman Provincia Retinues look very interesting for roleplaying purposes).
I don't know, maybe I'll make a poll with Romani and Qarthadast, but I assume that most of the players here will continue, and this is why I ask you here and now.
EDIT: For those of you who have never seen a Succession game (also known as PBeM), take a look at the King of the Romans PBeM in the Throne Room.
A useful link follows:
A History of the Holy Roman Empire from 1080 to the Present
You'll notice that they're in-character thread remains 'in-character', and they look like they've had a lot of fun (and more than a few tense moments as well). You can tell that people really get into it....I was hoping for something a little more like this for our 1.0 game. It will be a little less informal, and hopefully some good political scandals/in-fighting will take place. :beam:
One last thing to note in this extremely long winded post....The reason this game isn't more organized is completely my fault. If I'm going to try and run one of these things, I really will need to do a better job organizing.
That being said, there may be times that I come across as a dick in the next PBeM, simply because I plan on having rules and enforcing them. It's the only hope we'll have of keeping things going on the straight n' narrow.
Just remember your experiences with me here, and you'll understand why (although I don't foresee any problems with the players who are carrying on, just new players who might not be familiar with the often unorganized craziness that we've dealt with at times in this game).
Whoo. I'm done rambling now.
Ok, I'm going to bed. :Zzzz:
See ya'll tomorrow.
