Finished my turn, should be able to get the save uploaded in a few hours.
New save up.

Lesson learned: Cavalry, even knights, really suck in autocalc. I fought a battle against a Norse army with 2:1 odds in my favor, and if it weren't for friendly fire on the part of Norway's force, losses on both sides would have been even.
here's the save, wales is next

I pm'd roadkill...but is he around or do we need a sub?
Sorry for the...wow, quadruple post, but I wanted to bring something up. In the Grand Campaign hotseat, we decided that it was ok to do the surround and destroy thing to agents, because it is hard to enforce a ban on it and it seemed to be realistic for a whole army to search out and capture a spy or assassin.
Recalling this I used the tactic to take out a spy, only realizing after that we hadn't talked about it in this game.
Is everyone ok with this? I can use the console to bring back the spy, I think.
ha ha, I ruined your quadruple post attempt
I think it's a bit cheesy but I'll go with it if other people want to use it - and considering it has already happened probably best just to leave it legal
Curses, all I have is a triple post now. :clown:
Those are my thoughts. I allowed it in the other game because almost everyone (who said anything) wanted to.
Edit: Just out of curiosity what events in Australia does your sig refer to?
Roadkill is around, but has trouble sometimes getting to his turns. I'm not really sure what his situation is regarding internet access.
sorry, very culturally specific of me, I forget that cricket is of zero interest to much of the world...

the Indian PR people were claiming that harbhajan had in fact said "maan ki" which means "your mother"
They're burning effigies over it? :clown:
I find it amusing that "your mother" is less offensive than the racial slur. I might actually be angrier if that's what I thought someone said to me. :clown:
I'm coming to the view that you're nobody in India unless you've had your effigy burned
Having troubles defeating a sick lion? ~;p good ol' Prince Knud. ~;)Quote:

My own general was pretty good as well, and my army was much higher quality and more expensive.:sweatdrop:
Anyway, losses one each side would have been even if your men hadn't managed to kill a good 30 of their own. :clown:

If I remember my Norse SP campaign from long ago correctly, Haakon shows up in the first couple turns.
I'm impressed by Cheetah's bevaior as well as his skill. There seems to be something about long odds that brings out the best in hotseat players (see Tristan in the Teutonic game, who kicked the butts of most of the factions on the map, me included, by himself).
I hope I keep half that good humor when the inevitable "everyone turns on England" event occurs.
Phonicsmonkey, did Roadkill read your pm? I'm wondering if he's having internet problems. He's already missed two turns. I know another player who'd like to sub, Boyar's Son, I could ask him if Roadkill can't do it.
please, call me monkey
I'm not completely au fait with the whole pm thing, but I have zero unconfirmed message receipts which suggests he has read it
if there's a way I can look to see when he read it let me know and I'll do it...
Other than looking at your private message reciepts, I can't think of a way to tell. If you erase yours like I do, that might not work.
I'll send him a pm. I think he has another day left before the deadline (well, half a day). If he can't play the turn I'll find a sub.
I'm starting to think one could constantly be playing in at least one hotseat just by being on sub duty full time. :clown:
No burning in effigy for me, I'll just stick to calling you Maan Ki. ~;)
Perhaps ask Doug. Or is somebody else going to be available quickly?
I don't want to seem selfish, but I would rather like to play my last turn before I leave. If we cannot find a sub, can I do it again? And seeing as this is the third time, I hate to say it, but should we perhaps be looking for another player?
Roadkill still hasn't answered my pm. :sweatdrop:
Go ahead and sub the turn. You're the only one who's subbed for him, so I suppose it doesn't matter if you see where his men are (which may bear no relation to where they were when he last played anyway).
I'll see if I can get in touch with him before his next turn and work something out. If need be, we'll get a new player.
Righto. I'll get to that, and my own turn after work then. I don't want to throw RoadKill out, far from it, but its not only that we always have to wait for him he also never seems to answer the messages. Oh well. Maybe hes just got a lot on or something.
I don't know what his current situation is, or what's been going on in other hotseats but I looked back over his turns in this game, and he has only missed the deadline twice before this turn (out of nine turns)
Once over New Year's Eve (which I think is excusable), and last turn when deguerra subbed for him
So it seems like it's a recent issue, maybe with his internet as Zim suggested...
If possible it'd be great to keep the same players in the game - we've already had one switch and although luckily that hasn't disrupted things thanks to deguerra's consistency with PK's gameplay, we know from PO's experience in the Teutonic game that it can be frustrating and disruptive.
So if there's any way of getting in touch with Roadkill and sounding him out before making a permanent switch let's do that.
Does anyone have an email address for him?
I'd personally rather not have the players changed either, but I do think that with absence number 3 and with no replies to pms, we have a problem. He did play his GHC2 turn, which came up about the same time as his last turn here. I would suspect he's either having trouble with his internet connection (like EF, where it's on and off again) or having time issues.
Unfortunately, I don't have his email and his account isn't set up so I can send him one via the ORG. I'll just have to try another pm.
At any rate, if deguerra plays his turn tonight Roadkill should have about a week or so until the next one. Hopefully that will give us all enough time to sort things out.
don't get me wrong, switching players is the last thing I want, and I didn't want to sound harsh or abbrasive. But on the other hand, I do want this hotseat to continue in a timely fashion, and currently its being a bit slow. Let's hope he comes back soon
I didn't think you were being, and I apologise if I came across as suggesting that you were.Quote:

I'm all in favour of subbing this turn of his by the way..although I'd still prefer a neutral third party to do the subbing rather than another player in this hotseat...
Nothing personal deguerra...
