Report for 1138:
I have finished my last turn as Megas. I wish to announce right off that I am not running for re-election. Let someone else try to fill these shoes. I have heard many others tell me how I could have done things better. So, let them try their hand at it.
I did what I could to rebuild the economy while maintaining the military. I oversaw expansion while defending what we have. I oversaw the spread of our faith into places that have not heard the Word of our God in some time. I sent merchants to trade in the exotic spices that are abundant in Asia. I sent diplomats around the known world to sell our maps for money.
Pretty much every settlement saw development during my term. For last year, Alexandria has just gotten a merchant guild and has started land clearance. Dongola started a small chapel. Athens and Thessalonika started paved roads. And Caesarea and Diyarbakir started communal farming.
The Moorish Jihad has now besieged our capital. Last year, despite the abundance of military commanders, as well as army units, no one attacked the Moors. I wish you luck as you try to sneak past the road blocks on your way to attend the Magnaura Session.
Last year I sieged the Fatimids in Acre so they would stop trying to reinforce Gaza. They sallied and I took and occupied Acre. It is now the property of the new Grandmaster of the Order.
Not much else to say. It has been an honor and a privilege being your Megas for this term. I thank the Senate for giving me the opportunity to balance out some of the injustices we suffered during our Caesar's criminal neglect.

University Traits:
Ioannis Komnenos (Ignoramus) has been given the trait Cultured at level 1.
Andronikos Komnenos (woad&fangs) has been given the trait Just at level 1. (This order was submitted by Motep while he was still playing Andronikos.)
Methodios Tagaris (Tristan de Castelreng) has been given the trait Castle Education at level 1. (Note that the description for this trait is erroneous, it says it increases piety but this is wrong and it increases movement as intended.)
Ioannis Kalameteros (deguerra) increased the trait AcademyTrained from level 1 to level 2.
Armatos ek Naksou (Cecil XIX) removed the trait PoorLogistics.
Note (1): There is currently an adoption offer up with the adopter as Andronikos Komnenos (woad&fangs). For convenience, this may be accepted or declined by anyone at any time during the Senate session, once woad&fangs indicates what he wants to do.
Note (2): Armatos ek Naksou (Cecil XIX) is currently maxed out on ancillaries. If he gains any more province titles without getting rid of other ancillaries, they will not be added to his retinue.

Report for 1141:
My fellow senators and royal family of the Komnenos let us all rejoice in the following news:
https://img519.imageshack.us/img519/...edjihadvn8.jpg
My admiration go to all those that managed to defeat these fanatics and furthermore invade their territories. It is entirely appropriate that armies under the command of our legendary leader Basilues Aleksios Komnenos dealt the last blow to the jihad. I understand that one of the few casulaties was a personal friend of the Basilues, I pass on my regrets. As I have said in the senate I shall not rest until these heathens are brought to heel and feel the Roman sword in their homelands.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has had the Byzantine Infantry retrained and two Trebizond archer units recruited in Tblisi as requested. However I was unable to retrain the Trebizond archers in Dyanbikar as requested due to the absence of the correct facilities. Further troops will be built in Tblisi when more men are found (OOC: next turn). The prioritized Leather Tanner will have to wait until work on the farmlands in Tblisi has been completed.
With the completion of the Walls in Constantinople the building will begin right away on the City Hall that the Basilues has requested.
Senator and family announcements:
Comes Vissarionas ek Lesvou has been moved west from Dongala towards Thebes, it was fortunate that he crossed the Nile as he can now see a medium sized Egyptian army directly across the river. It seems the Fatamid's still have isolated warlords loyal to their cause.
Strator Nikolaos Aristenos has began the long journey from Sofia towards the lands of his new master across the seas. His first journey his toward the port of Thessolonica where a small fleet has been made available for the crossing.
I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius have modified my journey after the defeat of the Jihad at our Capitol and now make my journey south west toward Smyrna.
My congratulations to Comes Methodios Tagaris on his fourth child, a girl named Theodora may she inherit her mothers good looks.
Further congratulations to Isaakos Komnenus on the birth of his second child named after his brother Ioannis (yes another one!!!).
Andrinikos Komnenos has yet another candidate for adoption
Building:
My extensive building works will no doubt catch the eye, I said some time ago that I believed the empire contained too many military outposts and not enough money spinning city like settlements.
I pass on my thanks to Pavlos Chrysovergos and Lisas Attaleiatis for allowing me to convert Trebizond from a Castle to a Town.
I have also made similar modifications to Scopia and Aleppo as I felt necessary.
My desire to aid House Illes Korakas in appeasing their settlements, compelled me to build some Council chambers in Cairo.
I have also commissioned garrison quarters to be built in Belgrade and a Bowyer in Corinth, to aid my plans of fortifying the west.
Work has finished of the Chapel at Nicosia, the Port in Bucherest, the Town hall in Sinop and the small chapel in Dongola.
Thessolonica has an offer for a Merchents Guild - I have left the offer open for Patrikos Ioannis Kalemetros to consider.
Misc:
Due in part to the Moorish sackings in the west, the people of Arta, Athens and Thessolonica have had to appeased with lower tax rates to avoid the danger of full scale rioting.
The Fleet in the eastern Mediterranean has been consolidated in Acre, with the ambition to blockade gaze as soon as possible.
Aragon and Sicily are now at war.
Relations have impoved further with the Kievan Rus.

Taking the save.
Whilst Cecil XIX has the save, I will have to go to bed. Which is just as well because I am tired and would probably miss something again.
It is good to see a fair bit of activity in the save, it will now remain open until 1700 GMT Wednesday 23rd Sepetember.
http://www.mizus.com/files/pbm/LOTR-1141-5.zip
Hopefully my schedule won't be as much of a problem next time, sorry.
Cecil XIX, i hope my post was not seen as a dig at you!!!
Anyway taking the save.
Tristan de Castelreng has a defensive battle...
I have pmed him the save.
Save has been surrendered to Smowz.
Gaza has been brought into the fold by occupation. The Fatimid Sultan is dead.
Few losses on our side though Methodios' whole BG lay dead but himself at the end of the fight.
Didn't even truly use the Order men except to delay and divert some of the Fatimids. In total, Stavros men must have taken less than 10 deaths.
I can't wait for Smowz to post his report...
Will post a battle report sometime tomorrow.
The  comes knocking...
Report for 1141:
My congratulations to Comes Methodios the Brave after his speedy take of the garrison at Gaza. The settlement now belongs to him and his house Illes Korakas. The Fatamid Sultan is dead, the leadership of this faction is now in disarray, the named Crown Prince has emerged just south of Cairo.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has had 3 units of Dismounted Byzantine Lancers built in Tblisi. This takes him up to 6 out of the 10 PUs that he is allowed this term. The prioritized Leather Tanner will have to continue to wait until work on the farmlands in Tblisi has been completed.
The work on the City Walls has begun as the Basilues Aleksios Komnenus priortised.
Armatos ek Naksou has had 7 of his 10 PUs built for him in the holy land as requested.
Senator and family announcements:
Strator Nikolaos Aristenos continued his journey toward Alexandria by boarding a group of vessels near Thessaloníki.
I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius continued my journey towards Smyrna.
Andrinikos Komnenos moved east in Anatolia past Sinop and now approaches a small rebel army. Yet another candidate has offered himself up for adoption, after I rejected the last one.
Building:
The conversions of Aleppo, Scopia and Trebizond have been completed. Work can now begin on turning these centres into fine economies.
Speaking of which, a Market in Iconium, a Grain exchange in Smyrna and a Market in Sinop will be welcome news to the Roman accountants ears. These buildings are under development.
Construction on a small chapel has begun in Acre. Also as Arta is not yet big enough to support a Port, work on clearing land for local farms has been commissioned.
A leather Tanner is being developed in Sofia to better armour our troops in the west.
I accepted the request for a Merchents guild in Thessaloníki, on the behalf of the house of Asteri. Another has been offered to open up in Athens, again I shall leave it initially to my friend and mentor Ioannis Kalematros to decide.
Misc:
Sinop and Yeveren has had to have their tax rate dropped to avoid rebellion.
Unfortunately the people of Aleppo are currently in revolt.
The council of nobles have asked us to blockade Mecca.
There is a small rebel force to the north of Bucharest.

Shuffled some more units between Cairo and Alexandria to prepare the assault on the Fatimid Crown Prince cruising by...
Taking save to deal with the other former Templar stack near Antioch.
The save. The last Templars are gone. Managed to get a clear victory, swordbearer, and Bart almost killed, but fortunately only severely wounded.
(Mental note to self: do not fight battles when a) sick b) drunk or c) both)
taking the save.
Report for 1143:
Another year of stability for the Roman empire, my slow process of turning these fine lands into an economical powerhouse continues. Congratulations go out to my longtime friend Domestikos Vartholomaios Ksiros who finished off the work by the order to eliminate the last of the irratating Knights Templar hangers on. A fine victory indeed and one taken at great personal risk, I salute you.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has 4 out of the 10 PUs available. The prioritized Leather Tanner will start work soon on the completion of recent farming improvements.
The work on the City Walls has begun as the Basilues Aleksios Komnenus priortised, he may priortise one other building. Our great leader has all 15 of his 15 PUs available.
His son Caesar Ioannis Komnenus likewise has all of his 2 of 2 PUs available.
Armatos ek Naksou has 3 of his 10 PUs available.
Ioannis Kalematros has all 8 of his 8 PUs available
Senator and family announcements:
More happiness for our royal family as yet another bundle of joy has been given to Isaakos Komenus and his young wife. I have been informed that their third child is a boy named Appollonas , a grand name indeed.
Strator Nikolaos Aristenos continued his journey toward Alexandria, the fleet he is on is currently sailing across the Mediterranean
I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius boarded a vessel to cross the Aegean sea.
Andrinikos Komnenos moved east in Anatolia he now approaches Dyardikar after avoiding contact with a small rebel force in the area. Yet another candidate has offered himself up for adoption, after I rejected the last one.
Building:
The newly designed towns of Aleppo, Scopia and Trebizond have now started work on profitable grain exchanges. Both Aleppo and Trebizond have had to have their tax rates dropped for a short time as the populace gets used to a different way of life.
The slow religious conversion is failing to keep up with the booming populations, with that in mind I have comissioned work on various places of worship in Alexandria, Dongola, Gaza and Adana.
Excellent news for travelers in the west of our realm, work has been completed on paved roads in Athens and Thessaloníki. Meanwhile a Bowyer and Garrison Quarters have been completed in Corinth and Belgrade.
In the far east, the outposts of Tblisi and Yeveren have compled their farmland reforms.
Finally a small chapel has been completed in Acre.
I accepted the request for a Merchents guild in Athens, on the behalf of the house of Asteri.
Misc:
An English scholar managed to translate an Arabic Alchemy document. Frankly I do not know what to make of it.
Our relations have dropped with Sicily.
The Crown Prince of the Fatamid Calaphate is on the road to Gaza, I am sure he will soon meet the swords of one of our great commanders.
The council of nobles have asked us to blockade Mecca.
There is a small rebel force to the north of Bucharest, there is another in between Sinop and Trebizond.

Took Methodios and some of the Cairo garrison to deal with the Fatimid Crown Prince...
Simply put, he's no longer a nuisance...
Lost more men than I expected... I got a taste of my own medicine when he charged into my line with his bodyguard.
Tried to ransom him and his men for 8000 florins but was denied.
EDIT : Gaza has been left defenseless, though without any threat in range. But it may revolt this turn...
I would be thankful to the Megas to recruit all available units in Gaza to prevent rioting.

Taking the save.
Report for 1144:
It is my unfortunate duty to bring the following news:
I feel honored to have served under him as a Senator, General and for this short time as Megas. He is survived by his wife Ireni and his large royal family. Let us all pause and join together in paying our respects for our great leader who has presided over a great resurgence in our empire. I am sure many will have plenty to say on the matter, those who knew him best will surely sum his life up greater than I can.
Aleksios' eldest son Ioannis Komnenus has been long time Caeser and now will step up to become Basileus and I wish to pass on that I will continue to serve you as I did your father, Hail Basilues Ioannis. It is Understood that you have named your adoptive grandson Comes Methodios Tagaris as Caeser, a man who he has been of great benefit to the empire in recent times.
In fact, it was only this year that once again Methodios the Brave despite having recently captured Gaza managed to muster a force to capture and ultimately execute the Fatamid Prince. I wish to add that I personally am delighted with this and have rewarded Methodios by raising as many troops as possible to help maintain the peace in his recently captured provinces.
Hardly anything else seems of importance in these times, however here is the rest of my report.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has 4 out of the 10 PUs available. Work has now begun on on the Priotised Leather Tanner in Tblisi.
The work on the City Walls contunes as the late Basilues Aleksios Komnenus priortised.
His son, the recently crowned Basilues Ioannis Komnenus has all of his 2 of 2 PUs available.
Armatos ek Naksou has 3 of his 10 PUs available.
Ioannis Kalematros has all 8 of his 8 PUs available.
Senator and family announcements:
Grandmaster Armatos ek Naksou has a Tax farmer added to his retinue
Strator Nikolaos Aristenos continued his journey toward Alexandria, the fleet he is on is currently sailing across the Mediterranean.
I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius have landed near Corinth.
Andrinikos Komnenos moved east in Anatolia, he is now just North of Diyardikar. Yet another candidate has offered himself up for adoption, after I rejected the last one.
Domestikos Zigavinos Vasilakios has ventured to visit the battlegrounds of the great Asteri victory and placed a watchtower to watch over there.
A Keiran Rus princess has come of age, perhaps another can be added to our royal family?
Building:
I had to make a correction to works in Alexandria, I have decided to alter the works on the Orthodox chapel and turn them into more functional Council Chambers.
In guilt I decided to compensate for my unpious act elsewhere by beginning construction of an Orthodox chapel in Acre and Bucherest, may God forgive me.
I once again had to drop tax rates in Thessaloníki, the populace in this and other cities in the west are starting to crave better care. I have addressed this with starting work on administrative developments such as a Town Hall in Thessaloníki and Council Chambers in Athens.
More works continue to prepare our western front, with a Leather Tanner in Belgrade, a Practice Range in Corinth and a Wooden Wall for the outpost formally called Durazzo.
Better profit will hopefully result in changes in Anatolia, with a Grain exchange in Nicaea and higher tax rates in Sinop and Trebizond.
I bring news of completed works on religious buildings in Adana and Gaza, the work has been completed in a magnificent Cathedral in Antioch.
Good news for the Peasants, remodelled farm work improvements has finished in Markinopol, Dyandikar and Arta. Also Council chambers have been completed in Cairo, a Leather Tanner in Sofia and a Grain exchange in Smryna.
Misc:
England are the most technologically advanced faction.
Our spies have located the next Crown prince of the Fatamid Caliphate in line, he is currently residing in Mecca, which is now known to be their new Capital. I plan to bring you an update on the sweeping up of our enemies in the senate as soon as possible.
The council of nobles have asked us to blockade Mecca.
There is a small rebel force to the north of Bucharest, there is another in between Sinop and Trebizond, a second has sprouted up here. I have asked my lord Zigavinos to intercede, once he picks up some troops in Markinopol.

Point of Order question; can I sieze ships that are still at the docks of another House? I moved Vissa and three companies of men onto those ships at the Cairo docks with the intent of taking them, but then I had the thought that it isn't quite clear if they can be taken while they're still docked. I'm not sure there's a logical distinction, but I really, desperately, strongly want to avoid a rules debate so I'm posing the question immediately.
I'll post a link to both the save before my action and the save after in case I'm away and the decision goes the other way. There's plenty of time for me to do a different action later if necessary, so if this isn't a quick and easy decision for our GM just work off the last save. I would've asked earlier, but the distinction between a fleet at dock and just on the shore line didn't occur to me until I was looking at the save.

Report for 1146:
Long live the new Emperor, our beloved Basileus Ioannis. I hastily left the emergency session, I bring you the following news... the mysterious new Fatamid Sultan Mu'in now lies with a large army in Mecca. I know not much about this man, legend has it he is a useful commander, I wish our new Caeser and the intrepid Comes Vissa best of luck in their venture to track down and kill such an enemy. The current Crown prince is a less capable man held up in Medina, meanwhile there is another minor warlord somewhere in between our armies and Mecca.
Meanwhile the Seljuks have made a bold attempt to retake Adana with a pitifully small force. Please can the Order send these fools back from where they came from. Could the order also direct me how they wish to spend some resources on taking Damascus? I have been able to ascertain some more Turkish settlements in the East, one such place is known as Mosul.
Alas I have been unable to track down the whereabouts of these Moors - our scouting fleets continue their search.
Priorities:
Pavlos Chrysovergos has 4 out of the 10 PUs available. Work has now continues on on the Priortised Leather Tanner in Tblisi.
The work on the City Walls continues as the late Basilues Aleksios Komnenus priortised.

I, Nevoulas ek Philadelphius have taken my army into Athens, we await reports of Moorish sightings.
Andrinikos Komnenos moved east in Anatolia, he is now on the road to Yeveren. Yet another candidate has offered himself up for adoption, after I rejected the last one.
Domestikos Zigavinos Vasilakios has continued his journey on to Markinopol, his first visit to the city formally known as Caeserae.
Three enterprising young men have applied to become senators. I must confess I cannot get my tongue around the last of the threes name.
Building:
Our western frontier continues to look safer, a Drill square is being constructed in Sofia. A similar building is being worked on in Markinopol.
Our two small provinces of Arta and Adana have recieved some attention, Arta is building a grain exchange and Adana is working on farming improvements.
Financial buildings have been completed in Scopia, Aleppo, Trebizond, Sinop and Iconium. I hope to capitilze on this by sending out even more merchants as soon as possible/
Misc:
We are the most technologically advanced faction.
Tax rates have been dropped in the Capitol and Trebizond.

Continued Methodios' march south in Arabia.
While scouting ahead of his forces, he stumbled upon a small Fatimid stack led by a general and a small rebel stack.
Engaged both, one after the other. Killed the Fatimid general.
Scored a Clear and a Heroic victory. Lost half the BG in the two fights.
Methodios got two new monikers in the same turn : first "the Champion" on attacking the Fatimids and "the Conqueror" on defeating the rebels.
Rest of the army caught up with Methodios and continued advance on Medina, heavily defended (about two stacks with a lot of javelinmen and javelin cavalry)
Moved Cairo fleet south to engage Fatimid fleet.
