Hehe, governors don't pay here. Silly man. :beam:
Rugby talk has its place. As do political discussions. To be fair, I'm tired of political discussions for now. There is too much scope for people taking something badly and all hell breaking loose.
Considering Bootsiuv spent a lot of time on this Tavern, I think it would be a shame for it to be ruined by someone spouting off about something they know too little about.
Here's an interesting conversation starter regarding rugby:-
Rugby League is immeasurable better than Rugby Union. Discuss.
No sports please, its unfair for me because I dont know crap about rugby :/Quote:

Damn, I'm hungry now!
american football>Rugby.
gg.
no.
:clown:
I beg to differ.
None of those real men were dressed like Robocop! And they didn't stop for a break everytime something happened.
:laugh4:
Aaah, the talk as old as time...what's better Rugby, or american football.
Quite frankly, both are probably a lot of fun. I've played american football in school, and it was good times.
I have never played rugby, so I'm not really sure. I know it would probably hurt getting hit with no pads!!
I do think american football has shnazzier uniforms....that's got to count for something.
Oh and how can you eat pizza with no bacon? C'mon man, errr, unless your Jewish I suppose, then you probably shouldn't. :laugh4:
And cheerleaders!
I will let you have that!
Cheerleaders are fun. :) And rugby is better than american football anyday! I mean I probably wouldn't have broken my nose if I were in padings...
Also, I don't think it's smart to play a game where the players life expectancy is of 7 years.
And it's a drg to watch American footbll anyway. I mean they advance 10 yards and it's like the play of the century or something. Jeez
Anyway everyone gets what he deserves right? :p
Rugby rules. 7 men rugby is really wierd but I like it. You must pay more attentipn to the game himself cause a bad pass is a sure try for the opponent.
I'd like to see the biggest player from american football geting tackled by Jerry Colins or better yet Chabal :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6POsJPKc10 - by the way, I'd probably run like hell when those huge guys start caressing themselves...
CHeers...
Of course how could I forget....the ever-elusive cheerleader vagina is a much sought after commodity in the states. :laugh4:Quote:

Damn the British and their sense of decency and decorum!!
:laugh4:
Ye fools, football americano is obviously fucking awesome.
10 yards is a nice play, if its a RUN that is, its hard to go from completely stopped, to as fast as you can go and get past about 7 guys without getting tackled, let alone get past them AND THEN juke the safeties and get a TD.
It may be difficult if you're dressed in 30kg of kevlar armour and a helmet!
I've just been reading www.bbc.co.uk/sport that Miami Dolphins are playing NY Giants at Wembley Stadium on Sunday!!
Who the hell thought that that would be a good idea?!?! Wembley Stadium is big enough to seat 90,000 people. There is going to be absolutely no atmosphere in there at all, because there'll only be about 12 folk there! And 10 of them will be ex-pats!
I hope, for their sake, the NFL ship a crowd over with them.
I think you underestimate the general european populations desire to attend loud sporting events with which to conduct riots in....:laugh4:
Ok, that was a joke, please don't take it the wrong way. :beam:

I can't bring myself to watch it unless I love the teams, believe it or not. It takes the game 12 hours because they insist on having like a 8 hour halftime show. It is a very big advertising thing....superbowl time costs advertisers several million dollars for one 30 second slot. I don't like it to be honest, it's almost a side show....superbowls in the 90's weren't so bad....I could watch those, without being reminded 47 times in 2 minutes to drive a GM or drink some pepsi. :laugh4:Quote:

I do love the regular season though. I honestly prefer college, where it's still about the game, not the 10 million dollars the dude will make this year. I do have to watch every lions game though, and considering how much they lose, Sundays between sept and dec generally suck.
At least there doing better this year....:smash:
Millions of people watching college football or basketball baffles me too! Surely they're just kids aren't they? Like an NFL reserve league or something?
Americans seem to be really good at sports, but they persist in playing sports that no-one else in the world plays. You should all play cricket!! That would be a civilising pastime for you all! We kept the largest empire the worlds ever seen in check with cricket :laugh4:
LOL!!
Perhaps I'll past that little tid-bit along to my countrymen....although, isn't baseball akin to cricket? Or am I thinking about something else entirely?
Sorry....I'm clueless sometimes.

I think if you smashed someone in the face with a cricket bat it would still bring a tear to your eye!
Actually, I think technically it would be a slap, because it has a smooth flat surface.
Yes, I'm afraid you must be. Cricket is only similar to baseball in the fact that it involves hitting a ball.Quote:

There is a game in Britain for girls called rounders which is almost exactly like baseball. In fact, it is just baseball without the oversized gloves and obscenely tight trousers.
I guess if a toffy from wales came at you in his whites, attempting to knock you down with a cricket bat, you would cry with laughter!
Let it be known I am not a great sports fan however.
Equestrian sports there are, yes, but I do not like to refer to true riding as a sport but an art as I have shown - however, my personal choice of casual riding is very barbaric in itself.
And now, back to the argument on cricket..
Ok. Now that the political argument is over, and we've all moved on to a more serious subject, i will enter back into the tavern.
Talking about baseball (it's a very confusing game for me:dizzy2: ): did you know that the dacians (getae- for us EB players) use to play a similar game named oina? In my country (that being Romania) that game is still played by some (not many-now everyone wants to play football:wall: (soccer for the US)). For me is rugby and equestrian ( i love the crosscountry event):2thumbsup:
And about pizza: make mine a calzone
make mine a calzone....lol. I think that's a pizza hut slogan right now. I don't know if you have pizza hut they're (wonders if pizza hut has gone international )
If not, an interesting coincidence. If ya do, go eat there calzones....there the shiznit!!
And sorry for my lack of knowledge on cricket.
Glenn....I think Barry Bonds could show you other-wise, my young and fiery friend....keep the anti-americanism discussions between you and your 'mischevious eques', or at the very least out of my tavern. :laugh4:

Player from England: So does your mother!

Just got in from the pub. Got a rugby match tomorrow, admittedly a night on the lash isn't the best preperation for a game, but screw it.
Well, good luck with the match. Hammer them with all you've got and score four tries on your own...
CHeers...
I didn't score four tries on my own. In fact, I didn't even score one. I was playing prop, so I just trundled the ball in again and again.
I was pleased with the way it went though, my shoulder held up OK and I wasn't too knackered. We won 48-10.
Got shit-faced after the game too, then got a Chinese and fell asleep. A great day all round.
ur all wrong! :whip:
greco-roman wrestling(aka Collegiate wrestling) is the sport! :2thumbsup: :tongue3:
We didn't quite end up graeco-roman wrestling, but there were a few fisticuffs and lost of grappling!
It was my first proper game in about 3 years, and I loved it!!
I'mn still waiting from my premiere...Can't wait!!! That's what I love about rugby. You don't need to score or touch the ball often to make a great match!
While I don't have a real competition, of to the gym to bulk up a little.
Cheers...
You need to remember that it's not all about size! I'm not especially big (about 6ft and 15 stone, give or take) but I ran right over the top of someone who was a good 6 inches taller than me yesterday.
It's more about upper body strength if you play in the forwards. Later on in a match when players start to get tired, they don't tend to tackle properly (ie around the midriff and legs) because they're too tired to bend down. This causes them to try to tackle high (around your chest). If you have a lot of upper body strength, you can just bounce them off and run over the top of them.
If you're a centre or a winger (or even a full back), its more important to be QUICK!! No matter how big the other player is, if you're too quick for him, he can't hurt you.
Good luck in your first match, you'll have to let me know how it goes!
I'm about to watch some American Football; the Miami Dolphins are playing NY Giants in London. I'm willing to let the yanks persuade me that American Football is better than rugby, although I doubt they will.
I know it's not about size. I'm doing right now a "recovery training" so to speak. it's a lot of exercises of medium charge (40~50%) and average repetitions just to get my body used to the work.
Then, I'll do a max power training High charge (85~100%) with few repetitions. then, combine maintenance training with pylometric training low charge (25~30%) with lots of repetitions. this is what gives you speed and stamina. I was advised to do some hypertrofia training but I'm not too much into that stuff so... I'll probably gain 6Kg from this and increase my strenght dramatically.
Cheers...
Nope in Canada too u graduate in Grade 12 ... lol ... yes yes ... im Indo-Canadian :2thumbsup:Quote:

I watched the Miami vs New York game on Sunday. I must admit I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a touch on rugby! I felt sorry for Miami, I dont think they deserved to lose again.Quote:

Like baseball!
more like 2 hours my friend.
Plus all the pre-amble, and the play by play analysis. And all the talking afterwards.
And the time outs to run out the clock! That was a despicable piece of play not worthy of an audience of 90,000 people. Felt like cheating to me.
what, rofl time outs STOP the clock, they dont RUN them out. :laugh4:
Time outs to run out the clock?!!
Uhhh, they kneel down to run out the clock, as injuries aren't worth it to the team if they're already winning.
But, uhhhmmmm, time outs stop the clock....hence, the word time out.
did you see the greenbay/bronco game last night? went into OT and farve just drops back, play action, blasts the ball out to his WR and BAM TOUCH DOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
insane.
Oh dear, this had to happen. From a relaxed place to drink and talk about each other with malicious gossip of all sorts to a football place. Oh dear. XD
Maybe I misunderstood what was going on. Something was happening and they were all just sitting around watching the clock tick down to zero.
From bbc.co.uk, the match round up about the Miami vs NY game....
"And once Jay Feely's onside kick went out of bounds, the Giants ran out the clock.
A mix of travelling Miami fans, American expats, hardcore fans from all over Europe and some casual supporters booed the tactic - a normal occurrence at the end of games - heartily."
This is what I meant. There was talk of time outs when this was occuring, I must've put 2 and 2 together and got 5.
Regardless, I still didn't like the way they ended it. It didn't strike me as very sportsman like.
You make a good point, horst, and I understand the confusion.
Really, though, they pay millions to these guys every year....they're not going to risk injury (especially to a quarterback) if they're already winning.
Unsportsmanlike....perhaps, but having 100 million dollars worth of players on the field might make those who pay a little nervous...
Imagine the hell a coach would catch if he let his starting qb get hurt for the year because he decided he needed to win 'more'....that's how coaches lose their jobs. :laugh4:
Money talks eh?
Since I'm drunk, for real, right now, (which is sad, why am I at the EB-forums right?) I won't order any more bear.
All I want to say is EB rocks. One of the greatest game of the year! Which really say alot since I'm kind of a geek and own and play many of the new games for the ds, 360 Wii and etc... bla bla blah...
I wish I one day will be a part of a project as grand as EB! Damn, I hope you really fell proud of yourself! I know I would!!
I can't remember, as well as spell, the name of all of you, but you are all cool guys here at the forum! Really! This forum is great, I learn alot! Good luck with everything everybody! :balloon2: :balloon2: :balloon2: :balloon2:
I am cast into wonder, Lovejoy.
Speak further, and more clearly as to why you became intoxicated, logged into these forums and then praised everyone here with semi-serious spelling errors.
Does something depress you, are you deprived of sociable entertainment lately?
The, "A" key is too far, and too awkward in position from the, "E" key - for you to of mispelled, 'beer', as, 'bear', genuinely!
So, even if only I ask this in order that repetitive sports commentary will be abolished in favour of your discussion, (As it is - contrary to what I first believed - ruining the popularity of this tavern), tell more of the pretext that caused you to wander here, and, though drunken, appear more weathered than you really were.
Well... I'm not sure I understood half of what you said and I'm not sure whether I should feel offended or not. :inquisitive: But this is what happend.
Me and about ten friends rented the local bowlinghall. But since I don't live in the city were the bowlinghall is located, I had to leave early with the bus. :shame:
Once at home, I went up to my room. I didn't want to go to bed all dizzy and drunkish, so I turned on the computer. I saw this thread, and said to myself, I'm gonna write something. So I did! After that I watched a film. End of story!
:juggle2: :juggle2:
(PS: My spelling is always bad, it have nothing to do with alcohol)
Don't worry mijn spelling is also bad if they have problem with it i always ask them to write something in my own language :2thumbsup:Quote:
