Give it a shot: guess where US states belong on the map. Itty-bitty New England states are tough to position.

Thought it might help non-us readers get a sense of proportion. :)

Wow...someone might mistake me for an American! But my accent says not! ~D
My score was 78% and I had avg error of 206 Miles. Not bad for a Euro eh? :D
Interesting. But it's a bit touchy.
I got 39 out of 50. I should have had four or five more but the "game" decided that really damn close didn't count. I figure if I'm off by fifty miles on a whole state that should be good enough.
Anyway, it's a very cool puzzle and very informative. I'd like to see how y'all Americans would do with Canada's 10 provinces and three territories.
32 out of 50...
not bad for an european.
Cool game.
43 perfect out of 50.
86% Score, Average Error 14 miles
Its the inland southern states and midwestern that screws up, as you have to be really close when you place the states.
Anyway, it's a very cool puzzle and very informative. I'd like to see how y'all Americans would do with Canada's 10 provinces and three territories.
No you wouldnt.. :embarassed:
66%, average error 194 miles. Meh, it's not as if many of the states matter. Anyway, I'm English.
82% 41 out of 50 with an average error of 43 miles.
i just put it together like a jigsaw.
thansk,
dessa
88%, avg error 20 miles.
DAMMIT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THE EXACT POSITION OF NORTH DAKOTA RIGHT?
That I missed by like 45 miles.
I missed Alabamy by like 5 miles to the left.
They got a Europe one too I did alot better on that one 91%
On Holllllliiidayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Fellow green day fan.
90% 14 miles 230s
the game is finicky...
north dakota is easy, its states like colorado that are hard, when you have no other states in the area.
north dakota has a nice shaped northern border which you can line up.
thanks,
dessa
I missed NDK by like 10 damn miles! ITS NOT EASY IT MACHES UP WITH ABOUT HALF OF THE NORTHERN BOARDER>
/rant>
-Capo
Damn it, only 84%. I hate it when it starts me off with something like Colorado and I get 4/5s of the state in the right part but it still considers it wrong. :furious3:
80%, Avg error 52 miles. Me likes puzzle ~;p
EDIT: Hey, I've just done Euro geography lvl 5 Expert (no outlines). Score 86% ~ Who can beat that? :knight:
Hetman think I had something very smilar - it was high eighties - but most of my misses were the damn small ones like Monaco and Vatican City, they insisted on putting in. So hard to remember EXACTLY where they are to go.
Yes, out of the tiny ones I only got Angorra and Vatican right. Others I missed badly. I must also admit I had very little idea where to put Liechtenstein :embarassed:
~;)
EDIT: and what the heck was that abbrievated country?? ~
i got 89% on level 8.
FROYM.
its macedonia.
i got 98% in 148 seconds on level 5
i got latvia a little off.
thanks,
diz
You're not meant to look at an atlas while you do it... ~;)
i didn't do it with an atlas.
im just that good at geography, but that doesn't mean i don't hate it.
thanks,
diz

FROYM = Former Republic of Macedonia
Two errors Moldavia and Hungary (sloppy putting on that one, thought Hungary was bigger, to much MTW ~;) ), all the tiny ones right though ~D
Asia
2 errors on those stans, but I was lucky with the map.
The other continents are embarrasing on that level. :embarassed:
Africa 55%.
74 on the second attemt.
South America 58%.
Had 96% on the second attemt though so all I was needing was a refreshment.
i made 5 mistakes with asia and only 2 mistakes with south america
84% Avg. Error 84 miles 437 seconds
not bad but I got hardly any of the Eastern states right (I got all the Western because I have been to almost all of them except the really far north ones ~;) )
50/50-whoo! I Feel Good!
I started it, but the first two were Utah and Tennessee...no way to place those without reference. It needs to make the states appear an a non-random order.
74%, 177 mile average mistake. But I don't know any really except the big ones, so I only got quite a good score later on because it was like a jig saw.
I got an A* at Geography at GCSE too. Useless subject.
92%, 17 miles average error.
After starting off with one of those rectangular states, which I missed by a few hundred miles, the rest were easy.
Nice quizzes, thanks for the link! ~
euro i got a 95% first try with andorra being my first error (because i didnt know that the arrow was where to drop it) 142 seconds - level 5
95% (because i dropped slovenia onto the grey are fisrt try) on level 8 - 248 seconds
91% asia level 5 - 124 seconds\
88% in US
I've found what I learned in Physical Geography to be very, very useful in my backpacking explorations of deep wilderness areas. Understanding the basics of weather and clouds, phenomena like orographic lift, tidal patterns, soil, rock, tectonic activity etc. can be helpful if things get dicey. Combined with a course in Natural History, it makes for quite an enhanced outdoor experience, and a heightened level of personal safety in the face of a natural tantrum (minor mone, anyway ...).Quote:
