Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
How are faction attitudes? Do the Seleukids and Ptolemaioi stay at war with each other if you are playing as Baktria or Armenia or Carthage? Right now this issue is why I've practically stopped playing my Baktrian campaign. Even on medium i'm slogging through stack after stack of Seleukid elites and the Ptolemaioi aren't at war with anyone.
I would probably finish AS off, but I don't want to share a border with anyone in Anatolia for fear of going to war with another faction.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
We're still working on some of it. The beta testers might be able to answer that question better quite honestly and are free to do so as long as they don't reveal anything that should remain secret.
I would also advise though being very very nice to the seleukids if you are playing as any faction near them (except ptolemies), no matter what. As pontos recently I figured that out. I said to myself that no matter if a seleukid army was around, i could still take Nikaia as it was not a seleukid rebel city. But i took it and they got mad and attacked me. I should have left it alone while they were anywhere nearby, and even ought to have sent them a nice little ang pow while I was at it too to make them happier.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Well now that TA has given us the go-ahead to respond, I would say that faction attitudes are working out very well in the new build. The diplomacy seems much improved with starting and core attitudes of various factions. Some factions are much more aggressive, while others are more passive according to their historical perspectives. And yeah, the Seleucids are pretty mean indeed, expanding in ways not seen before.

Hmmm sounds good. I always have wanted the Seleucids to try and expand rather than just sit there while they get battered by Egypt and the Eastern Kingdoms.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
They seem to be pretty vicious. The situation in Italy and Greece is tense, things are a bit more even it seems. And I have yet to see the Ptolemies and Carthaginians go to war with each other. Plus, 1.5 is fun, getting rid of the siege bug really helps the AI out.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Interested: How is that Roman superpower I keep seeing doing?
Are they sending out stack upon stack of Triarii still?
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
The betatesters will start getting the new units sometime this week maybe. Hoping the romans will start adding a fair number of those to their stacks by then.
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Nope!:2thumbsup:
Every Roman army I've seen in the new buid so far has ben well balanced between different types of troops. Much more entertaining. So far I've seen the Ptolmaioi still slugging it with Seleukids for quite a while and about half the time Baktria and AS stay at peace which is new. Also no desert wars which is a great releif.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Is faction X in the build that the BETA testers are testing?
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
yes :) But we're not going to tell you what it is.
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Will there be a preview for faction X (where it will be unveiled) or will we have to wait till 0.8 before the mystery stops slowly eating away at our minds and souls?
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
It's not really that playable for them yet either. The new units and placeholder system for other necessary ones will be in the next update they get. That will be a lot more playable for them then. We might let a preview get out, but I don't know when and we aren't 100% sure of it yet. We'll see.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
The new Faction is!...... ~Static~ Isn't that cool!:laugh4:
Not that we don't want to tell you.... Just that it would be against our contract.:laugh4:

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
aw, c'mon that's not very nice--or "cool"--at all.

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
A betatester asked us about this, maybe someone will know:
Did 1.5 fix the FOW so that now with FOW off you can see all unit types in all armies on the map? Anyone know? Cause we can see them all, and it's not because of anything we did knowingly.
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
I`m playing Darthmod 8.0, which runs on 1.5, and with FOW off, I can`t see the type of units that comprises the enemy stacks.
What I can see is the number of units that it has, but not the type or strenght of the units.... strange.

It so happens that I have just installed RTW 1.5, to play some normal RTW in expectation of EB 0.8.
I get no information on enemy armies, outside my line of sight with the FOW turned off. I let a couple of years pass in a fresh Brutii campaign without moving, with the FOW off. (The only information is whether there is a family member or not. Questionmarks for all other units).

Well, the console_command toggle_perfect_spy at the start of the script may have something to do with this ;)

Hey - nice job of editing someone else's quote in a reply there Musopticon. What gives?

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
I've run out of trebor's soft peppermints and all the stores are closed. I blame you, Teleklos.
Now if you'll excuse me, i'm having an argument over at the ebaumsworld forums about who built the pyramids. Aliens, or the Egyptians.

Egyptians built them, and too many mints rot your teeth. Thinking about it if you eat too many you could end up with Egyptian teeth (Egyptian teeth were worn down due to coarse bread).
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Oh i've been arguing that the Egyptians built them, but the good people of eBaumsworld seem to think that the Egyptians couldn't possibly build something so complicated because people 4000 years ago MUST have been too dumb to build anything of the sort...
But mints rot your teeth eh? They're sugarfree... I've become addicted to them over the last few weeks... People said you could become addicted to mint, i didn't believe them... But it's true! I started with a packet of polo's everyday, the peppermint ones, not the spearmint, but then, after a few days, one packet wasn't enough... When i finished a packet, i would crave more... And now i've discovered the soft mints that are chewy... I'm eating 3 packets a day... I bought so many, the shop i buy them from actually put the price up by 3 pence... Bastards... But i could stop any time... I really could...

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
I am still planning on a Lets Play Europa Barbarorum thread on the Something Awful forums, and have narrowed my nation choice down to two nations - Getia or Iberia. Are these nations closer to complete, closed beta players / mod creators? I don't want to pick a nation that is still WiP (like I understand Sabea Nabataea Bartix The New Polity is going to be) but either of those nations strike me as ones that will show off EB's strong points. If not, suggestions from your experiences?
-
Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Personally, if you want to do an AAR that will show off the mod's achievements, I wouldn't choose either of those for 0.8. I think you'd enjoy an old greek faction more, or an eastern greek or a celtic one or possibly even a carthie one. Even sweboz or a Sarmatian one might be better.

Iberia will not be ready for playing at 0.8.0 because it is currently going through a complete change. Getia is far more complete, but I'm unsure how much. Work is still being submitted.

Sabae Nabatae Bartrix eh???? I hope you just didn't reviel "factions x"

Re: Question on 0.8 for the team and testers.
Its true Bartix is Faction X. We did some research and found that Bartix was an actual historical civilisation. They praised the Ibex (or Ibix - notice the similarity in ending) and often carved giant 50 ft statues of the creatures. The civilisation ended when one such statue, the largest ever, fell over and crushed their capital city completely. Whilst there was a festival. For which every single citizen of their empire was in attendance. Bloody unlucky, thats what I say. Current thinking suggests that all the foot-stamping caused the statue to topple, but I guess we'll never know.
