What's made your day?
As a riposte to the 'ruined day' thread, I've come all over positive and decided to post this thread.
What made my day?
Yesterday I took my youngest lads fiancee to the maternity unit for a scan. I got to be the first one to see the newest edition to the Insane family. 10 weeks and 4 days into his gestation, with his heart beating like a sump pump. :2thumbsup:
Then to top it off, whilst i was there I bumped into my eldest lad, his missus and my eldest grand-daughter. They were there to do a scan for the boy she is carrying. And guess what? I shall have another grandson presented to me a week this Thursday. Curtesy of a 'C section'. :2thumbsup:
I feel all warm and gooey inside.
So what, if anything, has made your day?

Re: What's made your day?
Getting up, having a fever and being able to go back to bed with a free and happy concuss without having to go to 5 hours of German Class.

Re: What's made your day?
I fixed one of the office machines. I just left it for 45 mins and it was working when I got back.
I think your day sounds much better (although I'd be rather alarmed if I ended up with grandchildren anytime within the next couple of decades)

Re: What's made your day?
I've got a cracking, if slightly bonkers, three day mountaineering trip to the scottish highlands coming up this weekend, with a mate from uni. :2thumbsup:

Trussocks means place of the bristle
True? You Brits often leave me with an ignorant, indulgent smile on my face - just waiting patiently for someone to elaborate.
Congrats on the pending grandfatherhood. Best wishes to the Moms and nippers.

Re: What's made your day?
What has made my day recently was selling my house with it only being on the market for 21 days, and the buyer taking it as is, at a higher price then what I had it listed for.

Good Lord, it is impossible to trump that!
Mere mortals such as Adrian II have to feast on the crumbs falling off your table.
My crumb today was a postal package, thick as a brick and containing the improved and extended edition of Ronald Prud'homme van Reine's biography of Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter. Not much later I received an email from the provincial archives of Zeeland province (where De Ruyter was born and where most of his archived papers still reside) informing me that they had discovered a hitherto unknown set of documents bearing on the 'Trouwhand' episode (see first paragraph of Wiki entry) when De Ruyter was supposedly a corsair. After perusing the book, it appears that it contains new information as well on his trips to the Moroccan interior, on his African adventures and on the precise circumstances of various battles of the three Anglo-Dutch wars in which De Ruyter acquitted himself so well.
Cigarettes.. check!
Bucket of coffee.. check!
Phone off the hook.. check!

Re: What's made your day?
Strangely enough, dissecting the abdominal cavity of a cadaver. Really fascinating, and it brings home just how awesomely cool and intricate our bodies are.

Re: What's made your day?
Well nothing has made my day today because nothing unusual has happened except me feeling like I was going to vomit during gym class because I hadn't done anything remotely physical for two weeks due to sickness and we had a more strenuous class than usual today.
I had a really good day yesterday though. I had an epiphany when listening to "Reise Reise" and now understand a couple of the songs on it quite a bit better than before. That and I finished reading my first book written completely in German. It was written by some communist to the core Russian and though the bias was extremely obvious and I don't believe the contents were always the most true to reality it did give me a new view of Che Guevera despite all of that.

Winning two mafia games, especially the hard-fought M VI.
