WTF is up with people making "underpowered" thread/posts?!!!!

(slight rant warning :furious3: )

Its been one week and I've seen about 3 or 4 threads claming "Faction/unit so&so is underpowered". And then proceeding to give some silly arguments, or findings.

I don't know what the deal is:dizzy2: ... I mean the Celtic/Sweboz under/overpowered thread has been around for a LONG time, and I don't recall seeing some many threads pop up about "underpowered this and that" but NOW its just insane.

Also, people are throwing out posts about "underpowered this & that" like its nothing.

I understand there are some tweaking and chages to be made, also engine limits that worsens/helps battle performance of some units, and there is no problem with that. Its GOOD to talk about those issues :yes: ... but then claiming "so&so is underpowered", and then somebody comes in "no because" makes the whole discussion (of how to better battle performance within game limits) go out the window.

And if anyone steps out and just glances at this form, the whole thing is giving the impression the this mod is completely F*up with unbalanced units and whatnot. :wall:

i hope people think 2x before posting "underpowered/overpowered" threads and posts since they have the tendency to F*up discussions. :yes:

Chuck Norris is overpowered when facing normal foes. However, Chuck Norris gets slaughtered by Bruce Lee's fists (with an AP bonus) faster than Hastatis getting slaughtered by Gaestarnes .

Chuck Norris is just right in EB.
People complain that he beats unit X or slaughters unit Y but its simple fact that historically Chuck Norris was so powerful that he could even defeat Ninjas :chucks:
I know there is precious little hard evidence to base this fact on, however I uncovered a little known inscription on the wall of the toilet at work which states:

CHCK NRRS PWNS NNJS

So clearly contemporary observers were of the opinion that Chuck Norris was far more powerful than Ninjas.
This is well represented in the EB Chuck Norris unit being supremely powerful on the battlefield.
It is in-fact possible to defeat the EB Chuck Norris, but it requires an entire stack of Ninjas, far more than ever existed in reality in one place at any time.

Which brings me to a slightly off topic point: The unit description for Ninjas needs to be fixed, currently it only says "These guys are pretty neat; and by neat, I mean quite good".
Given the (Chuck Norris notwithstanding) elite nature of the Ninja, I feel that this sentence needs to be strengthened somewhat.

If what you say is true, then why did Chuck Norris get his neck snapped in two in "Return of the Dragon" aka "Way of the Dragon"?

That movie had the difficulty level set to VH/VH.

I have found this happens in many popular computer games. I use to play Starwars galaxies until the this and that class is too powerful crowd cried enough and the devs nerfed every popular class and then rewrote the game. I have not played that game since. People should realized that not everyone is the same and each class in what ever game is not the same. Everyone/ class has its own strengths and weaknesses. Each player should play and learn what those are for their favorite classes or in this game's case nation. I like to play Roma it has its own strengths and weaknesses like all the others. One should not charge directly into a wall of spears for instance. Pick up a book on basic infantry tactics and look up flanking. :book: That maneuver does wonders in battle. If your game is too easy try vh/vh. The new upgrade which I think is outstanding, seems too take care of the boredom that came along with RTW vanilla. :soapbox:

Or maybe Bruce Lee's fists had the AP trait that could penetrate through Chuck's armor of thick skin.

Chuck Norris doesn't need armour.
The only 'armour' he needs is jeans, half-open shirt, stetson & hard liquor.

People got tired of posting why their class is underpowered on the WoW forums and figured they'd come here to satisfy their complaint needs and bother some new people.

Chuck Norris has so low stats and small unit size that when EB rounded it off it got zero and he disappeared from the mod

In Delta Force I wouldn't say Chuck Norris is overpowered, but the whole world is underpowered. Of course, it's scientifically proven that the movie sucks, so I guess it's natural.

I am humbly wondering if the Helvetii complained after the battle of Bibracte 58BC that the Romans were overpowered...
My opinion is simple: If a faction seems overpowered, well, sucks to be me. What can I do to overcome this problem? Complaining on this board is only the final option, when all others are exhausted, and then, it is more often than not just a simple question. I agree that some gamers are very quick to come to conclusions that some faction or other is overpowered. My advice:
Deal with it.

I am of the controversial opinion that, no matter how much help he may have had, Bruce Lee still pwnd Chuck Norris. Therefore: Bruce Lee is more powerful than Chuck Norris.

Now, if Bruce Lee ever got beaten by anyone in any of his adventures, then said person is more powerful than both Bruce Lee AND Chuck Norris!

If you want evidence, then recently there have been several findings of ancient warriors - Mr.T's jewelry has been found in a bog north of Copenhagen (also proves that Romans lived in Denmark), and in southern France there are cave drawings from approximately 4300 BC showing Bruce Lee beating up neanderthals. What there is not, however, is any evidence of Chuck Norris. I also have to add that his shield design is medieval Celtic and has nothing to do with ancient Europe. There.

People that complain usually haven't played EB long enough to understand how different it is from any other TW game they've played. It's a patient man's game. Ususually the common principle that exists in all of the "overpowered/underpowered" threads is that the complainer wants something faster.

I remember one recent post where someone thought that the game should be modded so that every faction's capital has the highest level barracks in 272. Their reasoning: "because it would be uber-cool." Same with the people that want Lorica Segmentata for the Romans or Spartans to be unbeatable.

I just presume that anyone posting about such and such a unit or such and such a faction is around 14 years old until I see something to show me that they've put a lot of thought and consideration into their suggestions. Konny and his discussion on the money script, for example, shows how reasonable people try to make helpful suggestions.

Granted, I wish Baktria wasn't the presumptive favorite for the Saka v. Pahlava v. Baktria matchup, but I know that the EB team is working hard to balance every faction... they don't need me complaining and starting threads about how they are overpowered (besides, it probably has nothing to do with them being overpowered, but with economics).

But, overall, this has been a hilarious thread to read. Sorry I'm not as clever as the rest of you so as to be funny. The "vh/vh movie difficulty" comment was particularly good.
