Is there a way to know exactly which units become avalaible after the march of time?
I guess looking in the edb somewhere could tell me, but I'm not sure what to look for...

is there a message for the march of time? Because I am in 230 BC the romans are still alive with Capua around 33000 people, Arpi, Taras & Rhegio all more than 100000 people but did not get no notification about it til now.
I don't think the March of Time happens if the Romani are destroyed before they get their huge city... which is a major annoyance if you play Macedon and want to take them out early... and you still want the new phalanx... Need to make the event unconditional me thinks. :book:
It's not simply having a huge city, don't they have to build a Proconsul's Palace in each of them as well?
Well, I'm at 233BC and I still got no vanilla Marians. Should I worry now, or does this have to do with Epeiros almost wiping them out some years ago?

What's the trigger again? I ask because four of my five central cities have Proconsul's palaces and it hasn't popped up with the message. Not that I care for me, it doesn't make any difference for the Romani, but I'm sure the AI factions could do with a boost.
It popped up for me after I've build the 24k palace in Capua... It was advisor who told me what's going on.
hm... i'll share what i've been doing in my arche seleukeia and makedonia campaigns. i got the hellenikoi kataphraktoi unit of the arche seleukeia and the hysteroi pezhetairoi unit of makedonia by simply invading italy, and then taking one of their cities(i took taras because it was nearest to krete(for AS)/thermon(for makedonia), the nearest port city i have to them) and held them (and took a few more cities) until they were huge cities. then i gave the city back to the romani and voila, reformed units. :2thumbsup:
of course the real fun began when i discovered add_population and process_cq... :idea2:
the thing is that when a had a spy in capua it had the proconsul palace built and that was around 244BC (sinc then they have quit strong spies and the FL there so I cant get a spy there to verifie if they have it or not) now its past 230 BC and nothing hapened. :S

Something fishy is going on with my Romani game. I've got a Proconsul's palace in all five of my central Italian provinces (Roma, Arpi, Capua, Arretium, Ariminium), indeed I have them in every single province in Italy.
Yet I'm certain they've not happened, is there a population trigger as well as having the right building? Makedonia in my game could really do with those reformed phalanxes to give them something to beat Koinon Hellenon. Plus the Pahlava need those cataphracts or whatever it improves for them.
I've only played a single turn without the script activated, because I couldn't get past it otherwise without a CTD. I have been flipping back and forth between the old script and the optimised one, but I can't imagine that would cause problems.
A Proconsul's palace corresponds to a Large/Major City. What you need is a Hughe City in the right province (see the EB 1.1 Maps thread for a map ~;)) with ditto palace.
They're all Huge cities with the top tier government building. Every single city in Italy. I'm at 171BC for reference.Quote:

Turn FOW off, check a Baktrian FM for Hetairoi Kataprhaktoi; or a Hayasdan one for Elite Cataphracts (not kinsmen cavalry!); or a Pontic one for Hetairoi/Hellenic Cataphract style bodyguard.
Hmm, now I'm the idiot, checked the various bodyguards, and the recruitment roster in Pella, and the March of Time has already happened. I just don't remember it.

So there's a bigger problem. Why aren't Makedonia recruiting reformed phalanxes? All they're churning out are crappy levy ones and classical hoplites.
Because the AI thinks given its current situation it's more prudent to use the dirt-cheap, yet quite effective levies...
In short: the AI is acting smart on the strategical level (for a change); but that will not help much if it doesn't equal its strategical foresight on the tactical level too...
I think the problem here is that while the reform does happen, the "March of Time" message doesn't pop up. I for one have never seen that message either, despite getting the reforms in multiple campaigns - although I play using BI.exe and so I used to think that that was the cause.

Don't think Epeiros have any MoT-triggered units. That's just the AI being stupid and recruiting rubbish. I have that problem with Makedonia, which only has reformed phalanxes now because I used create_unit to give them some.

There is no file that controls the trigger. It is hardcoded. Thus the reason it still tied to the Romans building a huge town, even in EB.
