Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
“We have been betrayed…” the man-shaped being lying on the bright metallic slab muttered quietly to himself. “A whole fleet of them… we didn’t stand a chance… URGGH!” A scythe-like instrument extending from the medical computer has just descended into his flesh and burnt off his injured tissues within his wounds; the scythe then swiftly rose, and then turned blood red. “I’m dying…” He noted as he read the message encoded in the light emanating from the scythe, as though he is uninterested in his own fate. “But the men… they will need a leader… a leader who can lead them to safety… Reik would be a good choice… yes…” In truth there has been little choice, as there are only seven crewmen left after the devastating Solarian attack, leaving Reik as the only ranking officer still alive.
“Computer, call Officer Reik’Danel into medical capsule” The Captain wheezed into biometric microphone beside the slab.
A few minutes later, the tall Arborian arrived within the small chamber which holds the Captain. He bowed respectfully, and waited for the Captain to speak.
The Captain spoke as quickly as he could, telling Reik what he needed to do: to guide the ship to Utopia, and bring a warning to the rest of their race.
An hour later, Reik walked out of the medical capsule with a sense of purpose, and a heavy responsibility. The Captain has told him to keep it secret, and only tell the rest of the crew that the ship is on auto-pilot, as he has reason to believe that there is a saboteur on board. The Captain has also told him to pick a trusted crewman as his guard, and only tell him that he has become the Captain-Elect, and that he is to follow Reik’s orders, but nothing about the co-ordinates of Utopia. As for dealing with the saboteur… Reik was unsure what to do, and decided that he would ask the crew to decide amongst themselves, and throw the suspect into the brigs.
Reik looked at the battered walls of the starship and relieved the memories of the terrible battle which caused such horrendous damage to the ship, and vowed that he would succeed in the mission given to him by the Captain, no mater what.
Background:
The starship “Hunter of the Zephyer” is ambushed, along with seven other light starships of similar tonnage in a starbase near Xa’vas III, by a Solarian strike fleet. The resulting battle resulted in the deaths of the majority of the crewmen of the “Hunter of the Zephyer”, and its flight through space.
The Captain of the ship decided that the rest of their race has to be warned of this Solarian betrayal, and orders his subordinate Reik to navigate the ship to Utopia, the great refuge built by their forefathers to be a safe harbor for their people should there be a great danger to them.
The Solarian spy onboard the ship has masqueraded as a crewman and seeks to find the location of Utopia by killing the Captain-Elect Reik. However, his presence has been discovered by the crew, and the crew must now vote democratically to decide who amongst them is the Solarian spy… and then lock the suspect in the brig.
Rules:
Lengths of phases: 24 hours (or as close as possible)
Can vote no lynch/abstain: YES
Can quote/make up PMs: YES
Can private reveal: YES
Can post screenshots: NO
Can post chat logs: NO
Can the dead post: YES
Can the dead quote PMs: NO
Can the dead reveal their roles: NO
Can the players locked in the brig PM others: YES
Can they vote: NO
Can they talk in the thread: YES
During the night phase players can activate any of their special powers, if they have any. NOTE: they may only use one action per phase (apart from passive ones)
During the night phase two players can team up and kill/protect one player with 100% chance of success unless disrupted, blocked, one of them did not send the PM or one of the participants was killed. They must both send a PM using this format:
“I, along with NAME, will protect/kill NAME”
When a person is lynched, he is not killed, he is only detained in the brig, he can be freed... using someone's special power.
Discussing the games with another person behind the scenes are encouraged... please form alliances and break them at your leisure :beam: Beware of the saboteur though...
In the event of a tie during voting, there will be a 24 hour extension to break the tie. If there is still a tie after the extension, there will be no lynches.
Roles:
There are 1 Captain-Elect, 1 Guard, 1 Solarian Saboteur, and 4 other roles.
The Guard will always protect the Captain-Elect unless the Guard performs another action. To kill the Captain-Elect, the Saboteur will have to kill/lynch the guard first. Only the Guard knows the identity of the Captain-Elect and vice versa.
The Captain may not reveal to anyone.
Cover PMs will also be sent to some roles.
Objectives:
The Captain-Elect, Guard and the crewmen’s aims are to lynch/kill the Saboteur.
The Solarian Saboteur’s aim is to kill the Captain-Elect Reik.
The Captain-Elect must not be lynched.
The game starts with a night phase.
(This is my first game so this game will be probably very unbalanced and contain lots of mistakes, please bear with me on this)

I think you want to be giving the spy a townie PM too otherwise the captain just reveals and says "OK, everyone reveal to me in private or you are scum"
In btw.

Ah but only the Guard knows who the Captain is, so that shouldn't happen... Will add rule so that the Captain can't reveal to anyone though, just in case.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Well, that would make it obvious in that the Captain could only act together with the guard and anyone else contacting the captain to perform actions would find it fishy.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
That will not be a problem :devilish:
Edit: Making rule changes... man hosting a game is hard!

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I'll play, this looks fun.
Edit: You said private reveals are allowed, but said nothing about public reveals. Am I correct in assuming these are allowed too?

No time to check right now (Thesis due tomorrow afternoon) but can you make a quick check of people's last online time?

I'll do it in about 30 minutes.

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
All times are GMT+1
Lord Winter: active today at 8 am.
FactionHeir: using invisible mode; posted this morning.
Chaotix27: active today at 7 am.
Caius: using invisible mode; posted at 3 am.
El Diablo: active today at 7 am.
Sarathos: active today at 9 am.
I was active until around 1 am.
Doesn't help much...
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Maybe the mafia has detective powers?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
So... what's the point of invisible mode anyway if you can still track when they were on? :laugh4:
Vote: Sarathos
No particular reason. Also guys, remember that it wasn't just the mafia who didn't kill anyone.. we have that same ability if we team up.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
*An omnipresent voice suddenly was heard throughout the spaceship*
I believe that the being known as Sarathos was... "killed" during the battle... and thus does not take part in the discussion... (OOC, Sarathos is not in the game...)

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Okay here is the situation (and it may just be co-incidence).
I (finally) have a secret power in this mafia game in that I get to stop the action of one player during the night. Not kill them as I am town but give them a mild poison (as quoted by our host) and stop them doing anything....
Thus last night I requested that I stop Lord Winter from doing anything. It succeeded - although this does not 100% prove his guilt as the mafia may not have been active. I did have a 1 in 6 chance though? Maybe Maybe not....
It is however the only thing I have to go on.
Vote Lord Winter
If I am wrong please feel free to lynch me next round, but as for random votes I at least have a target (albeit a flawed one).

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Hmm... that's unlikely, but it seems like the only lead we have. Of course, there's no reason you couldn't be lying about either the existance of your ability or the fact that you used it on Lord Winter...
But I really had no reason to vote for you, either.
Unvote: El Diablo
Vote: Lord Winter
Will you tell us about your role, Lord Winter?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I don't think this revealing is going to help as the mafia can claim any role too and we wouldn't know if it existed or not.
That said, blocking someone doesn't mean they are guilty. You could have blocked a plain role. As I said, the most likely thing is that the mafia can investigate too. He's a spy afterall.
Anyway,
vote QJC because he's pressing me to reveal in private to him.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I'm a detective of sorts every round I can investgate one player with a 50% chance of finding out if he's guilty or not. You blocked me from investagting Factionheir. Thanks :(
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I am pretty confident that QJC is innocent - well at least not scum. QJC has also pm'ed me and what he has told me suggests that he is not scum.
I would prefer not to reveal what he told me for now so that we have some leverage over the mafia for later.
I do however suspect Lord Winter more now. I say lynch this mafioso now.

Erm, just saw that someone voted Sarathos... My bad, I just looked at everyone who posted in the thread :sweatdrop:

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Okay as I see it now the tally is:
Lord Winter - 3 (El Diablo, Quintus JC, Chaotix27)
Caius - 1 (Warmaster Horus)
El Diablo - 1 (Lord Winter)
Qunitus - 1 (FactionHeir)
Not voted - Caius

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Half an hour of voting left... get your votes in :inquisitive:
Edit:
and DAY 1 ends!
Lord Winter is sent to the brig (unfortunately, the intercom system installed in the brig still works so Lord Winter is still able to PM other players) and all his belongings were confiscated by a person chosen by lot. The six remaining crewmen went back to their quaters, not sure of what to expect this coming night.
NIGHT 2 begins, please send your PMs. (Or if you prefer, by email, shlin28@gmail.com) NIGHT 2 will end in 24 hours.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Huh, does that mean Lord Winter is innocent of the crime?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
or I could be ramping up the suspense :devilish:
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Well you'll see what happens after tonight when the game goes on.

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Again no night kills. This means:
- either the saboteur has a secondary power (investigation has been raised as a possibility, no?)
- or the saboteur is an inactive player.
Since we can't have proof of the first, I'll go with the second idea and vote:Caius. He didn't vote/post during the first day, so it's possible he forgot about this. If he did, then he won't have sent kill orders.
Tally:
Caius: 1 (WH)
Edit: let's try to keep a tally throughout the game, okay? Makes it easier to vote and such.

To even imagine such thing makes me want to laugh. :laugh4:
There's a third possiblity, El Diablo is able to block people's actions, it is possible that he blocked the mafia of his kill, all we have to do is wait for El Diablo to go online and tell us who it was that he poisoned.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Or we might have been lucky and the saboteur was blocked. My two points were what first went through my head.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Maybe its Lord Winter whos already in the brig and we just need to wait a few days to arrive home? :tongue2:
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I am positive that Caius is not the saboteur. For whatever reason he didn't vote the last day, but he has been keeping communication with me through pm.
I guess I'll pick one of you guys. Factionheir seems the most suspicious to me. So Vote: Factionheir.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Well, until Caius posts and proves he's not lurking, I'll keep my vote on him.
Tally:
Caius: 1 (WH)
FactionHeir: 1 (Chaotix27)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I'm sorry for lurking. shlin sent me a PM when the round was over.
-

Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Makes me unvote:Caius, then.
Tally:
FactionHeir: 1 (Chaotix27)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
vote:Chaotix then, to balance the scales.
Just saying I'm suspicious isn't helpful. Give reasons. I could say the same of you.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I'll actually vote:QJC, since he was third on the Lord Winter bandwagon.
Tally:
FH: 1 (Chaotix)
Chaotix: 1 (FH)
QJC: 1 (WH)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Sigh... I don't know why I'm voting for you, FH. It's really too vague to even guess at who is the saboteur at this point. I think we all need to come up with a decision on who we'll lynch, and stick with it, otherwise we won't get anywhere.
Unvote: Factionheir, Vote: Quintus.JC
Edit: Tally:
QJC: 2 (WH, Chaotix)
Chaotix: 1 (FH)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
As far as I know QJC is a detective, so lynching him isn't that great of an idea.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Vote: Chaotix
Nothing wrong with a bit of self perservation. ~
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Note: If there is a tie at the end of the phase (12 GMT), there will be an 6 hour extension
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
There will be a further 24 hour extension due to the tie... I am otherwisely engaged tonight so you guys better decide on who to lock up by tomorrow.
You may vote for anyone.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Alright... I'd say it's pretty important that I'm not lynched. If you guys will as well, I'm withdrawing my vote- Unvote:Quintus.JC - and maybe we can figure out who to vote for by discussion.
I'll start:
Chaotix- I know that I'm not the saboteur, but I have no real way of proving to you. You guys will just have to believe me...
Caius- I also know that Caius is innocent.
Lord Winter- As far as we know, because the game is still going, he's innocent. If anyone has a way of unlocking the brig, they should do it.
more coming...
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Why are you afraid of being lynched? :inquisitive:
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I have an important special ability that I'd rather not reveal for now, so the mafia can't expect it. But it would really cripple the town if I was lynched.
I also know that El Diablo didn't block the mafia that last phase. The mafioso is, for some reason, not killing people on purpose.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
I don't have a single suspect. At this point, I believe it could be you, WH, or Quintus, with a small chance that it might be El Diablo, because I doubt shlin would give the mafia an extra ability in such a small game... although that could also be the reason the mafia's not killing- because he's been knocking them out with poison instead.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Any reason you are omitting Caius' name?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Hmm... I suppose I shouldn't really trust anyone. Caius has revealed to me already, and for now I believe he's innocent, but you're right. He definitely could be mafia, I just don't believe that's true.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Vote:Quintius
He is being a lot evassive lately, like he is trying to not to appear. What do you have to hide?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Chaotix: Mafioso has a cover role though, so reveal means nothing unless you can prove it via detective results.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
How about you two, FactionHeir and Quintus? Who are your suspects?
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Sorry guys. Back after the weekend.
Yes I did manage to get my block in for the second night.
This was my reasoning....
1. I blocked LW round one and no one died - thus I thought I had got lucky and stopped the mafia dead. The game kept going and so I thought wrong?
So if no one died and the "mafia" was not blocked, why did he not kill?
Perhaps he was inactive....
Caius did not vote so I attempted to block him and it worked according to the pm I got from Shin.
So Caius is a suspect (but only in the same way and same reasons we got LW).
The thing I don't understand is if LW was not lying then he has a detective ability, and so does QJC, FH claims a special ability and so does Chaotix27?
TWO detectives and a blocker and a couple of other specials? Seems a bit of full house?
Quote:

:inquisitive:
Vote Chaotix27
Explain? :whip: and the vote comes off.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Currently I think Chaotix and Caius are the most suspicious.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
It's understandable that everyone has a special ability. There's only 7 people playing so Shlin was able to make one for everyone. I currently don't have much idea about who the mafia is, but I'm positively sure that El Diablo is innocent though.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
In fact, I tried to save El Diablo but he blocked me. I got this PM from shlin:
Quote:
You ate your meal and went back to your quarters to gear up for the big night ahead of you. Unfortunately when you got to your room you felt very very very tired. You fell asleep immediately and thus did not have time to meet up with (not gonna reveal who).
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
El Diablo is the blocker, I know the mafia might have dual abilities but I'm postively sure that its not El Diablo.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Yup, that's it, El Diablo. We were trying to protect you from harm just in case the mafia came after you because he knew your role. We couldn't pull it off, though, because you blocked Caius. Caius told me about what happened when shlin pm'ed me about how he never arrived to help. Not that it really matters, now, though, because no one tried to kill you.
-

Lemme add some pressure, there. Vote: Warmaster Horus. You've been awfully quiet...
He might just not be online, though.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Yep, sorry. Been absent practically all day, then found out my internet connection is getting problems. Basically I can use it for x minutes until it sort of shuts down, cuts me from the net, and forces me to wait 5 minutes to get it back up. Very annoying.
Anyhoo, I haven't caught up yet, and I'll do so tomorrow. It's after midnight and I've got school in two days.
-
Re: Starship Exodus (Mini Mafia Game)
Ummm stating that you have had limited internet usage and the mafia has (appeared) to be inactive is not a good way of professing your innocence...
Vote stays...

If you don't do that, you will be lynched, so you have 45 minutes just in case.
