Even though i haven't tried out this mod yet, i'm really tempted. Its a tie between "The Loyal Makedonian" by Maion Maroneios and "The Last Stand" by Smeel. Both are superb.

Anyway, I voted for #1, Thracian ambush, by ludwig.

TWFanatic's and Centrio Nixalsverdrus were both superior in terms of graphics, being the most aesthetically pleasing screenshots. Especially Centrio Nixalsverdrus' masterpiece. However, there was just something movie-like about the seemingly standing general, the standard-bearer and the charging masses of his soldiers of ludwig's picture.

To Maion Maroneios: If you just edited your submission a little bit, like numbers 4, 8, and 9, I would have probably voted for it. Try to use the blur tool a little bit, next time! The editing is what turns a screenshot into a picture/work of art!

I know, I just wanted this picture ''pure'' if you get me. Next time I'll probably to some editing.

Hmmmm, just as I was typing "ludwag", I happen to notice that the author of the first submission was "ludwig" as odd as it was, and I changed it so not to offend the author. I do remember conversing with ludwag, not ludwig prior to this, but I guessed it was another manifestation of my far from rare absent-mindedness rather than the mistake of MAA.

However, since MAA is such a legend at the .Org EB forum, I'm just going to take his word. After, all, if the Big Brother says 2+2=5, then so be it. Just kidding. My apologies for misspelling your name, ludwag.

that was a very good apology, and I am very honoured that you voted for me. I voted for myself, is that a bad thing to do? I was going to vote for The Last Stand but TWfanatic got so many votes very fast :( I think his picture is good, but not very good composed (?). Dont know the english word, is it compose? But next competition I will photoshop it so it gets more smooth and clean. I think it is good that we have a screenshot competition so that we can share screenshots, without just tossing in every screenshot we have, but chose one. But i think we should have more often and that more people should join.

I think 6 is prob the best EB picture Ive have ever seen. It really show the beutifulness of EB. The detalis are amazing!

I diddnt like it at all. Too small and to little perspective to make it epic. Just pressed the pausebutton right time, and moved the camera there.

I'm sympathetic to your point of view, ludwag -- and I really liked your artwork, by the way -- but I had to go with Maion's. Yes it's small and simple, but in my view it shows the quality of the EB artwork that is to be center stage in the competition. I agree with others that this shouldn't evolve into a Photoshop contest.

Was a tough choice between #4, #6 and #8, but I decided not to vote #8 because it was so heavily edited (although purrrtay), and while #6 captured a neat moment, in the end I decided to go with TWFanatic's picture, which, to be honest, not only is bloody impressive but also damn pretty.

For me it was a tie between Maion's and Nixalsverdrus'. In the end, I voted for Maion. But #7 is still a very very very close silver medal.

I voted for the "The Loyal Makedonian". TWFanatic's was good too, but I disagreed with the Photoshop thing. Maion Maroneios' was simple, picturesque, untouched, and pure.

The first 6 winning picture made it on the website but then no more were included, I would be interested in seeing them all there, unless there is a bandwith issue that is stopping EB from including more images.

balloons are meant to be a rare commodity, saturating the market by giving out 5 balloons to every one who voted for you devalues them. You should only give them out for special reasons, voting in a screenshot competition is not a special reason.

In all seriousness, I used to think the same thing before I learnt how to edit images. I soon discovered that the more subtle the changes, the more broad an appeal they have (in general). From my experience, the best PSed screen shots don't fundamentally change the original image, they just remove graphics/computer related ugliness (jagged lines, poor lighting, etc.) and enhance the features already present. Think of a babe from the babe thread--I dislike those made of silicon or those wearing excessive mascara. A little something to enhance what's already there is always nice tho, and in regards to a more mature lady it doesn't hurt to smooth out a few wrinkles. Photoshop evens the playing field for people with crappy computers.

My point was photoshopped screenshots aren't a good representation of the mod. Imagine the "why aren't my graphics as good as the screenshots?" threads.

I allways think about that. We need to be in a place between having game-graphics screenshots and edited screenshots. But anyway I think everybody photoshop them way too much. And the crop them to small squeares too.

You didn't win the competition - yet. As we say in Russia, let's not divide the skin of a bear that has yet to be killed. Although it is very likely that you'll win.

Quite possible the reason why the winning pictures are not posted on the EB website is because they are photoshopped. The pictures on the websites are supposed to be clear and frank representations of the EB graphics. To photoshop them would be against all ethics (although not against the law as it is with real game developers - EB is a non-commercial modification). However, I am not saying that people should not edit pictures. On the contrary, I have mentioned it a couple of times on this and on the previous threads that an edited picture is the best one, with the most votes.

Thanks everybody who voted for me! :beam: Someone mentioned that my screenshot was too photshopped. well, yeah Not as much as you think, but of course, there are a lot of really marvelous unedited shots this month, and compared to them my sc wouldn't stand a chance unedited. :no: I did these two things, simulated depth of view and fiddled with curves. not that hard to do.

One funny thing about Photo-edit , take a look at the official Screenshots of Empire:total war. One shot, with a cavalry charge or something, And I'm 100% that someone have blurred the background to simulate focus depth. it's not even a good photo edit. None of the other screenshots has this edit. Evil Marketing people!

That's actually illegal. Unless the game developer specifically states which screenies/videos are actual game footage and which ones aren't. I have heard of more than just one major lawsuit concerning false advertising featuring edited screenshots/video previews. The plaintiff won by the way, and the company was forced to revise their advertising.
