Unfair disadvantage for those without Photoshop(ping skills).
Although a seperate competition for edited pictures only probably wouldn't be a problem if there are enough enthousiasts. As long as people don't stop competing here because of that...
Hmm, I still have to take a good enough screeny to come even close to the masks...

We are both the Maks in this shot. I played the Royalist part (Mak general), whereas a Baktrian general I teleported to Saba (where that battle took place) played the part of Zaikedenthes, an important member of the ruthless Aphetaios family. I recreated his army for Baktria with console command and then attacked it with a loyal family member. It is an incredible experience to fight you own army and get obliterated! It's great to see that you probably not only were so successful with that particular army because the AI is stupid, but also because this army is just incredibly mighty, so that even the AI manages to win with it.

Wow...not to make judgments too early here, but...
We're off to a rousing start!!! Both great screens but Centurio, in particular...that's an amazing shot!
Gonna be another tough one this month...

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Here's mine: I call it "Two Pokes and a Miss"
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/4301b9e0df.jpg
Here's a little screenie of what my campaign map looks like at the moment:
[IMG][/IMG]
Klaudios' son, Sokleion, was ambushed near the Epeirote-Getic border with his bodyguard of what I've dubbed in-game as "Hysteroi Hoplitai", armed in the Romani fashion with kopis' and a pair of ap javelins.
Two getic generals tried to kill the heir to the throne, but failed.
Final Edit: May take a a little time for my pic to load.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Nice!!! Your leader is a lucky man.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
The soldier to his right side.......was not. He got wasted after another poking of the spearpoint later after the screenie.

No elephants? Hehe, is that the instant ticket to success now? What an unusual rule. But yes, screenshots with elephants do tend to win quite a often.

@ Burebista: Great shot....lokks a bit like the General was "crowd surfing" in a very unhealthy manner! Centurio´s pic is also very good!

Re: February Screenshot Competition
I'm going minimalistic this time, just like SwissBarbar.
And a balloon for the first to notice a little something.

Heheh. Note to self: when crowd has spears or other pointy bojects, do not plunge.
And thanks Anitnous.
Great shots everyone!
Let the fierce competition begin.

Great battle gamegeek2! Interesting angle of your shot.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Ah, sweet chaos!
That looks like a Roman army invading Britannia with Casse mercenaries, or... some other part of Gaul, maybe.
You ca find so many nice details in that one. Chapeau

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Centurio Nixalsverdrus' is still winning this IMHO - keep the screen shots coming gents!

It's a trap!
https://img442.imageshack.us/img442/...tsatrapil4.png
The sally of Antiocheia. The situiation in which my good friend Domodamas Drangenikos (AS general) was reminds me at a scene of Star Wars Return of the Jedi. The moment when Ackbar realized that the Imperial fleet was behind him. Poor Domodamas Drangenikos...:laugh4:

The sound of crashing swords and shattering shields could be heard up and down the narrow river that stood as a last defense towards recently captured Massalia. Lucius Corneilus Scipio, 'The Great Scipio' as he was called and his legion were all that stood in the way of the Gallic horde bent on rape and pillage. The Gauls crossed the bridge in great numbers, and immediately the auxiliaries moved to stem their advance.
"Sir?" asked the Primus Pilus, Marcus the Centurion to his Legatus, Scipio "Shall we commit the Hastati?"
https://img515.imageshack.us/img515/...phallusyg4.jpg
"No," he replied. "We seem to have them by the balls already."
--------
I present to you! The Gallic Phalus Formation!
Not exactly your normal submission, but since green arrows and banners technically aren't outside of the rules why not, people have asked me to submit this =P Think of it as in the running based on its comedic value rather than the usual boring coolness of the big battles!

I'm guessing that it's a subtle reference to my entry in the January competition, with a massive mountain in the background. Amirite?
And I'm not being toady or anything as you liked my #4, but I honestly think yours is the best so far, as it leaves a nice space in the centre, and isn't combat oriented.

The Last Man Standing
https://img232.imageshack.us/img232/...tandinggf1.jpg
4000 warriors fell in that battle. From my 2000 men defending Baktria, only 300 survived.
First screenshot by the way.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
That was an awesome battle dude, i can still remember it. At the start i burned their siege tower, and the gate towers burned their ram. Then they placed 2 siege ladders on the walls and started coming and both sides started dying, and dying, and dying. When i noticed i had lost my army, it was too late, for the bastards were fighting to the death. And when the battle in the walls ended, i had only about 50 troops left, all of which managed to retreat into the plaza, and the enemy had only one man remaining, which was "broken" but got stuck up there.
Anyway, I will give a cookie if someone can identify half of these bodies. :verycool:

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Pantodapoi phalangitai, persian archer-spearmen, and nizag gund w/e they are looks like are most of what's there, with maybe some kind of greek psiloi unit. I'd vote for this is the competition.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
My favorite part about wall battles is when the unluckiest of the soldiers fall to their deaths - arms flailing and screaming until they splat. I just find it hillarious to watch - although it always seems to happen to my defenders way more than to the enemy who scales the walls. Perhaps I need to scale walls instead of starving the town into submission or sapping/ramming.

Same here, that is my favorite part!! It makes me happy to see my enemy die a painful death.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
I actually saw one poor bastard jump. He was the last of his unit and facing my angry troops... rather funny moment.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
I once saw ten men jump all at once to get away from my troops. It was cool and weird.

But it's not cool when your own troops jump when ordered to get down from the wall!~

If you order them to get down, jumping is the shortest way. Pherhaps you shouldn't doubleklick, running on a high wall is always dangerous.:laugh4:

They jump on their own!?!?!?
Is that coded into the game to be purposeful or is it a bug?
-
Re: February Screenshot Competition
I don't know, but here's the screenie:
-
Re: February Screenshot Competition
I think it's just a bug. Ask MAA.
-
Re: February Screenshot Competition
well that's what i call "the other way out"
-
Re: February Screenshot Competition
Yeah, there's a pathfinding bug where units will fall of the side of the wall. I've even had them fall off the outside side of the wall. Getting guys knocked off the wall in the middle of battles is supposed to happen, but all the other times is a bug. It will usually happen when there is battle going on nearby or there is a damage/hole in the wall nearby. Once I tried to reposition a unit that was too close to a damaged wall and the whole unit jumped off the edge.

Re: February Screenshot Competition
Very nice pics so far:beam:
About units fallling from Walls - I have also seen my own troops fall off by mistak but I have also seen desperate enemy soldiers head strait for the edge - some don't get that far since they turn there back on my soldiers and we know what happens then but thoose who do get away simply jump of the wall:dizzy2: Althoug I have never seen entire units do it just one or two seperate sodiers.
-
Re: February Screenshot Competition
Earlier my general jumped of a wall while sieging Ispos, after he died his entire unit started to jump off!!!!
