Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia [Concluded]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=638S8n2_Ab8
A toast to the Undiscovered Country--the future!
--The Late Chancellor Gorkon
Acting Captains Log, Stardate 9522.8. Our mission to bring Klingon Chancellor Gorkon to Earth for peace talks, ending decades of hostility between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, has gone awry. Gorkon's ship, Kronos One, was fired upon, possibly by the Enterprise, and the Chancellor himself was murdered by unknown assailants. Captain Kirk and Doctor McCoy have been arrested and framed for plotting his assassination.
Mr. Scott has confirmed that all torpedoes are accounted for, and yet our data banks state that we were the ones who fired on Kronos One. If we did fire, then whoever was responsible for firing is here. If we did not fire, then whoever altered our data banks is here. Either way, whatever we are looking for is here, on the Enterprise.
I have secretly given Captain Kirk a viridium patch which will allow limited communication with him while he is held captive on the Klingon penal colony of Rura Penthe. We need to rescue him and the doctor, and discover who was behind the assassination, before the peace talks can be further disrupted.

Spock ordered the crew to gather around.
"As you are aware, I have taken command of the Enterprise until we rescue the Captain. You all have important roles. Valeris and Chekov will each assist in the investigation. Uhura will keep in contact with the Captain and the Doctor. Mr. Scott, you must get us to Rura Penthe as fast as your engines will allow."
"Aye, sir. I estimate two days at maximum warp."
"I propose we vote at the end of each day for who logically appears to be guilty," said Valeris.
"But since we can't be wery certain if they are truly guilty, and we don't want anyone to the wictim of false accusations, we should only keep them locked up in the brig for a short time," chimed in Chekhov.
"I agree," said Uhura. "I wouldn't want any charges placed without the Captain's authorization."
"Agreed," said Spock. "Until the Captain returns, those voted will spend two days in the brig. They will not be able to contribute to the ship at that time. And just to be fair, I must be considered as suspicious as the rest of you. Dismissed."
"You all have work," said Valeris. "Snap to it."
Uhura turned to Spock. "You understand that we have lost all contact with Captain Kirk?"
"At present, he's surrounded by a magnetic shield. If my calculations are correct, he should be deep into his escape planning by this time."
Meanwhile, on Rura Penthe
Escape wasn't exactly the first thing on Kirk's mind. He was too busy concentrating on the alien (who strangely looked like a Jem'Hadar, even though first contact with them wouldn't be made for another century -Ed) taking swings at him. Kirk was backed into a corner, and in desperation he kicked at the creatures knees. The alien moaned in pain and keeled over.
"Bones, why don't you see how he's doing. Let him know I'm not holding a grudge."
"Suppose he's holding a grudge?" said McCoy.
"Lucky that thing had knees," mused Kirk.
"Those weren't his knees. Not everyone keeps their genitals in the same place." The voice was from a strangely attractive woman.
"Anything else you'd like to tell us?" asked an astonished McCoy.
"You wanna get outta here?" she asked, rhetorically.
"There's gotta be a way..."
Begin Day 1. You have until 18:00 PST Tuesday
(remember that if you are "lynched" you may not necessarily be out of the game!)

Sniff, sniff* Whoo... something stinks. That sounds like fake banter with the game host to me. I Wote: Beskar for this round. Perhaps another time, we can owerlook this strange behawior.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
No, if everyone claims then you know from the write-ups who is who. That is the "unforseeable", hence itis easier to find out who the Mafia is also hence why I asked everyone to disclose.
Also, I recommend to Pizza, there are people who have not even spoken yet. Vote for them.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
I wouldn´t worry about ATPG´s vote, it seems to be nonvalid. And I think that ATPG is either implying to be Checkov or Sulu by the accent. We have to rescue the Captain and Bones first, it might be a smart move to see whats happening first before we vote.
for now I will Vote: NoLynch

Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
What are you fellows doing? It's wery dangerous to not even attempt a lynch, unless there's something going on here that I am not aware of. The "lynch" is just time in the brig anyway. And my wote is just as walid as yours! Woting is a wery good way to catch... whomewer it is we are supposed to catch.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Indeed my good man, it is best to vote first round even if that vote is entirely random with no thought put behind it. Vote:ATPG
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Vote: ATPG
Pretty much a OMGUS vote.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia

That's not a wery good idea, gentlemen.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
What do you mean? It was your idea, you silly man.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
I'm not wery useful to you in the brig, that's all.
No big whoop, but it is a mistake.

Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
One hour to go
As for my comment earlier, I want everyone to know that I was in no way trying to influence the game. Rather, I meant to put that comment in the rules but I realized that I forgot, so I posted in the thread.
No further comments from the gamemaster. :iloveyou: No matter which side you're on. :cheesy:
EDIT: One final comment: Do not question my math when it comes to vote tally! If it doesn't make sense, it's because of the particulars of the game, which will most certainly be explained upon completion. :smart: For now, just try and have fun! :clown:
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
I think y'all should calm down before ya throw poor Chekov in the brig like that. Vote: No Lynch
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Someone is trying to get on my good side. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign. Well, gentlemen, we wasted this round, and I'm not comfortable with last minute wote changes which could doom me, so...
unwote: Beskar
vote: No Lynch
Perhaps next round we will make more progress. I am hoping you all woted No Lynch because you hawe special abilities that you wish to use.

Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
End Day 1
Most of the day was spent gathering evidence. Without much to go on, the crew was wary to point fingers.
As the votes were tallied, Uhura tried to listen for Kirk and McCoy's vote.
"There's a tremendous amount of static due to the energy field surrounding Rura Penthe...I'm hearing one of them...both of them...I have both votes recorded."
It was decided that Ask the Pizza Guy had cast a certain degree of suspicion, and would spend the next two days in the brig.
The Enterprise continued at maximum warp towards Rura Penthe.
Meanwhile, on Rura Penthe
Kirk and McCoy were laying in their bunks amongst a row of prisoners.
"Three months till retirement. What a way to finish. Kobayashi Maru," said McCoy.
Suddenly someone approached. It turned out to be the woman from earlier in the day.
https://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2161/martia.jpg
"My name is Martia. You are Kirk and McCoy."
"You know our names?"
"We don't get too many presidential assassins," said Martia.
"We didn't kill Gorkon!"
"Of course not," she shrugged.
"Now listen: I know how to get outside the energy field. It's easy, but it's up to you to get us off of the surface before we freeze to death. Your ship will come, right? I can't make it alone. You're the likeliest candidate to come to this hellhole in months."
"Candidate for what?" asked Kirk.
Martia began to kiss Kirk passionately. "Go to 'C' lift in the morning for work duty. I'll meet you there." With that, she left.
"What is it with you, anyway?" demanded McCoy.
"Still think we're finished?" asked Kirk.
"More than ever!"

Do the Mafia try to kill us in this, or beam us or what? Just realised, I am completely confused.

You don't have any win conditions?
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Well I'm assuming that catching the evil mafia type guy will lead to victory, I have learned never to assume anything in a mafia game however.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
I think you should read your role PM a little carefully, it makes no sense. I am a townie and I have win conditions (usual along the lines of catching the mafia, etc) but why don't you have any?

Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Thank you all for the kind wishes! It's Simpkin by the way (@Beskar, you can blame a distant ancestor for that one :clown:), Snow is my partner's last name. Her and I haven't quite taken the time yet to marry, but we'll get around to it one of these days. Every time we talk about it something else usually seems to get in the way (like having a baby).
As for the game, I would like to continue if you are all willing to be patient with me. I'm proud of the model I've come up with and while I'm sure that by the end we'll all have found a few things that needed tweaking, I'd still like to see how it all plays out. I'll try and resume things sometime tomorrow. I likely won't be able to produce write-ups on time, but I'll try and provide them within a few hours of each round ending. Just like in the past, I'll give a concrete time that the round will end. So if you're all ok with that, I'll make a little time tomorrow for a write-up. Depending on what time I begin the round, I'll have Day 2 last from 36-48 hours to give everyone some time to get back into the game. (Again, if anyone has any concerns whatsoever about the game, like voting or their character's role, please PM me and I'll tell you what I can without tipping the game balance).
Thanks again everyone! I'm off to play catch-up in "The Black Country" and then I'll probably be changing another diaper. :baby:
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Take your partners last name, break naming conventions, at least having the name of Snow is rather cool. :beam:
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
What's wrong with Simpkin? Seems just fine to me.
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
Nothing wrong with that name but Snow is a cool last name indeed...
-
Re: Star Trek VI--The Undiscovered Mini-Mafia
If I did change my name to Snow, I would then share a name with my favorite character in A Song of Ice and Fire...anyways back to the game!
Iskander got home from the hospital, hoping that the baby would stay asleep for awhile. He put on his Vulcan ears and went to his bootleg imported DVD collection and next to a copy of Turkish Star Wars was Outer Mongolian Star Trek. So far the movie was similar to the actual release, but he knew things were going to get stranger sooner or later...
:vulcan:
After an uneventful night, first watch was called and the crew assembled, ready to continue investigations and voting. The Enterprise continued at warp towards Rura Penthe.
Meanwhile on Rura Penthe, in a tunnel connecting the subterranean mines to the frozen surface
Kirk and McCoy stood looking for Martia, who had failed to show up for their planned escape.
"I think we've been had!" said McCoy.
"No you haven't," came her voice. Kirk and McCoy looked around but only saw a large brute. It was then that the realized that the brute was speaking with Martia's voice. "Follow me!"
McCoy turned to Kirk. "What kind of creature is this? Last night you two were..."
"Don't remind me!"
It was then that Martia turned into a 10-year old, enabling her to easily slip out of the leg braces that restricted prisoners' locomotion to a slow walk. Kirk and McCoy watched, jealously, as she easily slipped into a side tunnel. It took considerable effort for the two men to follow.
As they approached the surface, McCoy turned towards Kirk. "Are you certain that they could hear our votes yesterday?"
"I estimated a 50% chance due to the energy field that they have here, which blocks most communication. The field shouldn't extend too far on the surface. By the time they count the votes tonight, we should be far enough outside the field to get a pretty clear signal. Especially if Uhura's at her post."
"And how do we even know that they'll make it here before we freeze?"
"If Scotty's able to do his job, they should be here tonight," answered Kirk.
"And if he's not? As a doctor I can tell you that the odds of surviving on the surface beyond tomorrow night are lower than the actual temperature out there."
"Then let's hope that they'll get here, doctor."
Begin Day 2. You have until 0900 PST MONDAY to vote. That's a little under 38 hours.
Locked in the brig and unable to vote (but can still contribute to discussion).
AtPG
everyone else may vote.
