Tournament IC shout-out thread
Raymond pauses for the briefest of moments to regard Hermant:
"It seems you and I are in agreement more often than not. But enough talk, have at you!"
Hermant, already reeling from the Duke's attacks last turn, steps back and, with a crooked smile, raises his mace in a brief salute to the Duke. Then he scans to his right and sees Loup temporarily unengaged from combat. He calls out to his friend:
"Loup - take Bertin! I will hold this flank!"

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
"For Saint Denis!"
Simon charges forward, lance at the ready somewhere in-between Hugues de Chamapgne and Chrisophe de Peronne.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Hugues is a bit staggered by the Dauphin's attack. He turns back to the Duc of Bretagne, who has suffered his own attack from the flank, and yells sardonically:
Attacked by a Duke and a Prince? I'm honored! Where is Raymond, perhaps Bourgogne would like to join Aquitaine and Bretagne in assault on Lorraine?
Come the three corners of the realm in arms, and I shall shock them!
Hugues chuckles and sways in the saddle. He appears to have suffered a blow to the head or he might just be drunk.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
"Fancy a drink after all this is over de C'ampagne?
I've got a wonderfully full bodied mulled wine being c'illed as we carry on proceedings 'ere."
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
"A fine idea Seigneur, though I could use a drink now as well."
Hugues braces for the next round.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
During the brief pause in combat, Raymond turns his head to call out Gaetan de Rethel.
"Sir Gaetan, please move along! I will deal with Sir Hermant!"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Overhearing Hermant
I will dismount you yet, Loup! Come, you and me, un contre un.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
*A surly, sweaty de Linars exclaims*
Very soon, I will mount you all! Ha ha! :charge:
*horse bucks*
Wa-ho!
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Gaetan de Rethel awoke from his stupor to nod to Raymond.
"Aye Mi Lord - Loup de Gisors! Are you man enough to face me? Come, face me, for I am wounded and you are fresh, so what is to fear?"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
"Champagne, make sure you fix me up a nice cold drink while you wait!!!"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
With a great crash Hugues tumbles from his horse. He stumbles to his feet with great effort and groggily exclaims:
Mère, s'il vous plaît ne me frappe pas avec la cuillère de nouveau!
Confused and disheveled he wanders the field until Reeves comes to fetch him. As his servant guides him from the melee he speaks again in a anxious slur:
Reeves I can't see out of my right eye! That lisping bastard blinded me!
Reeves responds:
I would not worry Seigneur, it merely appears that your helm is askew.
The Duc adjusts his helm.
Ah, quite right. Be a good man and lead me to the wine.

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Hermant looks dismayed to see Gaspard fall to Alexandre's sword. He calls out to Loup:
"Finish Bertin - I will hold the others off."
Then he turns and points his mace at his enemies, slowly moving its direction in rotation from Alexandre to Gaetan and finally to Raymond:
"Alright, gentlemen - any of you think you can finish me?!"
Then he tenses for action.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Eloi, reeling under a flurry of blows from de Linars and de Monsault turns his horse around for another go:
"Belle estocade pardi! Let us give this une finale décisive et grandiose!"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
After knocking down Simon de Montpierre Alphonse wheels his horse around and sees that the rear is secured
Well done de Perrone!
Concentrating on the matter at hand again
de Rohan! Prepare yourself!
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Swinging round to face Alphonse, Alain looks at him seriously, then with an exaggerated movement, he grabs his crotch and readjusted the armour between his legs.
"Excellent Alp'onse,
I 'ave prepared myself.
Now what?"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Simon de Montpierre bows respectfully to Alphonse la Hire.
"Well fought! You bested me twice I am clearly your inferior."
Readjusting his armour and nursing his wounds he slowly leaves the field, leading his horse behind him.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Alphonse raises his sword in salute to de Montpierre
Pure luck, sire, it could have gone either way, it was an honor fighting with you.
With a flourish he turns to point his sword at de Rohan
Now, we fight! And not like you do in the bedchamber!

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Dazed, Raoul wipes blood from his eyes. Through blurred vision, he identifies the Dauphin and charges at him again, screaming
I'm not down yet! Have at ye!
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
The Prince appears somewhat dazed himself, but he nods his head gamely and points to his right to indicate a space.

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
After recieving some glancing blows, de Gisors gets a very sober awakening
l'Enfer, c'est les autres. I shall get your back my friend.
De Gisors charges to reinforce his team-mate on the battlefield.

In respones, the Duc points his sword at Hermant.
"I am, as always, ready to face you in a proper duel! Just wait right there!
Alexandre! Gaeten! Give Bertin a fighting chance! Reinforce the left!"

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Alexandre looks round to from the combat to see Thomas de Saint-Armand near where the red team started.
"I challenge you Thomas time to test your measure!"
Alexandre kicks he steed to a gallop and lowers his sword point to Thomas's head.

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Louis shakes his head, looking about to abruptly realize he hasn't been duelling the man he intended. With a simple gesture he indicates to Raoul that he will come to him this time rather than leave unclear directions.
"Wait but a moment sir, I still have my sword for you!"

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
[i]Hermant sees the sandglass emptying and wonders if the tournament master will soon call time or let the melee continue. Either way, the end seems inevitable with red team outnumbered and scattered. Still, he calls out to Raoul and Alphonse:
"Bring down Duke Alain - and fall back from the centre. We can still win this if we fight tactically!"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Gaetan siezes the opportunity and shouts out to Hermant.
"Hermant, a final duel, between you and I, if you will do me the honor?"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Raising his visor, a widely grinning Duke stands around for a moment surveying the debris and mayhem.
"Tactically!?
Did someone say tactically!?
I mean please, can we 'ave someone wiz some real balls win zis damnable tournament?!"
Adjusting his codpiece once more, he then flips down his visor and screams incoherently in French at no one in particular.
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Raoul hears Hermant, but while he is mouthing the word "tactically", he notices that the Dauphin has moved off to the side. Rearing his horse around to charge him anew he yells
"Face me this time!"

'Look to your lance then, I come!'

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Alphonse lifts his visor, obviously annoyed at the trumpeting heralds signalling the end of tournament
"Surely isn't you who's got the balls, de Rohan!"
"Makes me wonder why you need to adjust your codpiece so much!"
"But then explains you running away from me!"
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Picking himself up of the ground were he landed heavily the young Duke is still smiling and clearly invigorated by the melee.
As he removes his helm he looks back at Alphonse as he walks off the field.
"I adjust my codpiece because it is so 'uge, at least zat is w'at ze ladies say Alphonse.
I am sorry you did not gain satisfaction today.
Per'aps next time."
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Raoul unsteadily walks off the field, bleeding in numerous places. After thinking for a bit, he shouts to the assembled nobles:
I fear this tournament was over rather quickly for my liking, and still I have not met the man to best me in combat.
Both Duke Alain and the Dauphin are to be respected as fighters. Each got the better of me at one stage, but neither managed to finish me off.
Thus an open invitation: I will duel whatever nancyboy has the guts to come and face me. As I have nothing to offer to he who does, I offer my services. I've said I'll only fight for a man I respect, and what better way of getting that then beating me in a duel. If anyone wants me, I shall be in the tavern!
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
"You beat me already Raoul, I will give another man a shance before I take you up on your shallenge.
Although if you shange your mind, you are always welcome in Bretagne.
Zink on it. zat is all I ask."
-
Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
Alexandre stands glass in hand and addresses the feast hall.
I raise a toast to the valour, courage and prowess of my brother knights for that was a well fought tournament. I hope there will be many more for us to compete on friendly terms. So please raise your glasses too all who fought and to the victor!

Re: Tournament IC shout-out thread
The Prince hurls his sword into the dirt at his feet, and looks about him with grim anger visible on his face. For a moment it almost looks as though he will attack the nearest man with his bare hands, but at last he turns his head to the sky and roars a series of curses instead,
Shaking his head Louis lowers his gaze again to the Royal pavillion from which the King has watched the tournament and his anger bleeds away as he offers a bow in that direction. Without any acknowledgement of his outburst he departs the field in the direction of the tavern.
edit OOC: And, yeah, I ripped the cursing off... you can probably figure out where from.
