Many surprisingly good units (at least for me),crappy economy, but that´s just fine with me. The only problem is that there reforms takes too much time, but apart from that, they are GREAT!:smash:
Second place between Getai or Lusos.
Definately Makedonia....:clown:
Getai would be my favourite, those falxmen can cut through anything.
The Romans =]
Cheap infantry, large expansion regions, excellent starting economy. One of the best starting factions for beginners.
Getai by far. Awesome starting position and amazingly cheap but effective units create a great campaign.
Definately the Sweboz, having Germanic ancestors and them being great warriors does help with that.
Actually I've just been reading it wasn't weird to the Germanics to form a Testudo like formation, the Shield castles. Which was used with assaults with other soldiers using them as platforms to assault the walls and with them charging into formation to break trough them. Good stuff. :2thumbsup:

Casse. Decent troops and make absolutely stonking amounts of money (I had 750K M/M once)
Gallic factions and from those two Aedui.
I'm not sure, if I have given a different answer to a similar question some time ago, but now I'd say either Casse or Sweboz.
Among the Gauls I actually prefer the Averni, but that's only because the colours of the Aedui remind me to much of the hideous Vanilla-Gauls :beam:Quote:

Aedui, not close, though Saka if they're eligible.
Sweboz, cause the're cool and challenging, Romani, cause they have so much depth, such as reforms and the like, and Getai, cause a falx can destroy anything(almost).
I would say Arverni. Runners up would be Lusotanna and Sweboz. It all depends what mood I'm in.
Arverni- When I'm feeling noble (The noble infantry have nice colors)
Lusotanna- when I'm feeling Deviant and evasive. ( masked guys are perfect examples of Lussos gameply: Shiny and hard hitting)
Sweboz- When I feel like hugging trees and smashing the heads of any tree haters with spiky clubs.
General Aetius
Well, Sweboz by far, though I've heard the Romans have cool reforms.
Definitely the Casse.
This would be cooler with a poll, IMO.
As for my favourite barbarian faction it has to be the casse. They're the underdog and thats what makes it all the sweeter when they end up winning:beam:
I don't understand why so many people love the Sweboz, BTW. They make all the other barbarians look bad, what with their clubs and awesome beards...:clown:
1. The Arverni
Well, I like the Celts, I like Gauls, and out of them I prefer the Arverni. Why them instead of the Aedui? Stupid question. The Aedui are weaklings! They mismanaged Gaul! They deserve to be crushed, and the Arverni are the ones to do it.
2. Casse
I love Celtic units because I tend to romanticize each and everyone of them as heroes. The Casse, with their unique reliance on heroic units leading the rest, play into that very nicely, and offer a little different campaign than the Arverni.
Oh, and I frigging love the chariots. They are awesome.
3. Aedui
Well, they're almost like the Arverni, only you have to play as the other side. Duh. They've got some very nice skins, much the same units, similar strategic position (especially after the Arverni is taken care of), and... well, I needn't say much more, I think.
4. Sweboz
Oh, well, I'm not sure I can put this one here; I haven't really played Sweboz since 0.8x, and though I liked it a lot, they have changed much since then. However, given that I have played so little with either Lusotannan or Getai... :shrug:
5. Getai
As I said, I haven't played much as these, so I don't value it much higher than the Lusotannan, but FWIW I think they belong here, in fifth place. Is that a falx in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

6. Lusotannan
By no means "bad" or "boring", I should point out, but rather "a group of people I'd rather kill and enslave than kill and enslave as". They've got awesome light infantry, I will give you that, and I can't really complain about their cavalry. They seem very likeable. I really can't say why I haven't given them the chance they deserve.
Perhaps I'm too preoccupied with the Celts.
1) Swêboz
Their units all have decent (above average) morale and lethality, as well as better discipline than other barbarians.
Their unit skins are probably my favourite ones in the whole game. And of course, I like the units as such, as well as their culture and language in general. The only serious drawback (apart from the lack of armour, which is a general Barbarian issue) is their pathetic economy, which is the third weakest (after Sauromatae and Saka) in the game.
2) Casse
Love those woad paintings. They got some of the best warriors in the game (and some of the weakest), and their position and some other factors make them very interesting for me.
3) all others; can't really decide on one. Colour wise, I prefer the Arverni to the Aedui, but I like the Carnutes better than Arjos. A major factor in favour of the Gallic factions is their economy, IMO. Lusotannan have some great units, as do Getai. Getai are awesome too due to the fact that their units have the highest morale on average, and their roster is one of the most diverse in the game.

Unique, challenging start position, awesome units (Belgae Milnaht are unstoppable at 3 XP and up!), make tons of cash if you manage them right.
Their short swordsmen are numerous and cheap, I sacked Barbaropolis with them! Thrice! (same army, no reinforcements at all)

Well I won't be able to compare all 'barbarian factions' since I have only played with a few.. (Too busy with Nomads, Hellenes, Karthies and other..:laugh4:)
I would say:
1. Arverni - I like the celts the best from all barbarians as they are the most developed. Why I like the Arverni more then the Aedui? Well...
- Better colours and skins in my opinion (I prefer Gaesatae and Soldorus with Darker coloured shields - they look more terrifying).
- I also like there battlestandard more - looks like some mythical symbol while the Aedui gather under a warthog:thumbsdown:
- The Arverni rebelled and fought against the Romans while most of gaul simply surrendered ("there can be no peace... no peace with Romans ... there can only be WAR")
2. Getai - wonderfull units, great opportunities, close to my home country - there an Ideal tribe to make an empire from Hellas to the North-sea and beyond:2thumbsup:
About the others I couldn't say too much - haven't played enough as those factions...:sweatdrop:

Yes, it is Rome.
