Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
This thread is for the Seneschal to make reports each turn (1.5 years gametime), Nobles to make brief reports on actions they have taken in the game, and for both to post the save when they finish.
The Seneschal excepted, Nobles should only use the thread to announce when they've taken the save, to upload it, and for the aforementioned brief reports on what they've done while they had the save.
With both votes completed, the first turn has begun. Extra generals have been drowned, and everyone moved to their requested starting location (to the best of my knowledge). If there are any errors, please pm them to me.

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
Made some fixes after being notified two avatars were very low on move. Oddly, most avatars were missing at least some, even though I had sore wrists from typing all those 'character_reset 'funny name'"s the other day, and did so for each after moving him into his settlement (so it wouldn't be a matter of saving before typing the commands and then forgetting to save again, or noone would be in their right settlements, either.).
Any way, the problem should be fixed now. Anyone who has any movement rate issues let me know.

Taking the save
Or not. Ok, Zim, your save regresses us back to before anyone had moved. So do we start over?
-
Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
No continue KD. There is no point trying to roll back now.
But I'll have the save at the end of each turn from now so I can release it after I've taken a look and made a few notes before you guy's go crazy with it.
-
Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
And it seems that the movement rates problem is still present in the save Zim has put online... notably de Neufville, Mauvoisin and La Hire have inconsistent Movement rates...
Just like before...

Going to go for it. Here is the save. Metz is beseiged by the Duc, myself and the Rheims garrison.

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
SENESHAL REPORT Season 1 (1081)
Le Trésor Royal:
My King, Dauphin, nobles of the realm. The first season went very well.
Unfortunately Mother church informed me that no new priests were available last season so I was unable to fulfill that requirement.
In the mean time Cardinal Etienne Courtois moved towards Toulouse as the “faith” seems sadly lacking there.
I have to report that Her Highness, Princess Constance, was unable to secure Angers from the English, she certainly made a valiant attempt but we were rebuffed on both occasions.
Unfortunately our beloved Princess seems to have picked up a heathen German as a suitor. God knows what he was doing fraternising with the English but I have seen him in the flesh and he is more German than a bloody Rottweiler. In addition our relations with the English have tragically worsened.
Given the lopsided position in Metz, our spy is heading to Bruges.
In addition a diplomat was commissioned and will be available next season.
In a surprising move given our pending “issues” with the Holy Roman Empire we have secured trade rights with them. It also cost them 1500 florins.
I'm pleased to provide the following construction report:
Toulouse a small chapel
Dijon a grain exchange
Rheims began roads (completed)
Rennes a grain exchange
Paris, well the money dried up once a number of mercenary regiments were recruited so nothing could be constructed.
That leads me to the defense of this realm.
le Ministère de la Guerre:
In the north the King received two regiments of mercenary crossbowmen near Bruges. Our forces are gathering for the coming siege.
In the south the Dauphin's man, Christophe de Peronne was able to recruit two regiments of mercenary spearmen for the pending attacks in northern Spain.
Duke de Champagne has begun the siege of Metz.
And in developments that have caught me entirely by surprise, while I was watching some paint drying in Rennes while administering the Realm and I had a vision from one of God's representatives on earth.
He has instructed me to create a more equitable situation for the realm.
This requires Bretagne to take a more active roll in the coming seasons.
In short my lords “we” are heading over the channel to acquire some land. I am sure this will be of long term benefit to the realm as a whole.
Given this development, mercenaries will be a little harder to come by in the next few seasons. I am sure that with the regiments currently available we will be able to achieve our goals.
Here is the current reports from across the realm.

Metz has been taken by storm.
We now have more Florins to spend.
I seem to have punched a hole in the castle wall. Considering the Germans in the area, perhaps the Seneschal might want to spend some of our new found riches on repairs?

SENESHAL REPORT Season 2 (1083)
Le Trésor Royal:
My King, Dauphin, nobles of the realm. The second season was a surprise on many levels.
Her Highness, Princess Constance was extremely busy again this season. I must commend her for the work she is doing for the realm. She is a credit to her father and to the kingdom as a whole.
With the consent of the King, Prince Louis has married the Spanish Princess Teresa el Valiente. It is clear they regards us highly as we received 3000 florins, trade rights, map information and military access plus a royal alliance between our two kingdoms for a piece of our esteemed Prince's arse.
The bride looked lovely.
The occasion was one of real celebration.
The negotiation was a credit to her Highness Princess Constance. I once again commend her for the skill and diplomacy she has shown and continues to display. For her efforts she has gain some renown across Europe.
For her troubles we now have a young noble of some repute who wishes her hand in marriage. I will leave it to the King to remove this troublesome cad.
Our diplomat secured trade rights with the Milanese and will now head towards Portugal to secure trade with them.
Our spy is currently in Bruges serving the King.
The following nobles have also been recognised for outstanding achievements.
I'm pleased to provide the following construction report:
Metz: repaired the war and is building a mustering hall.
Rheims: a small church
Paris: a Market
The following construction efforts have been completed:
Finally we have another task from the lesser nobility. I intend to make good on their request.
le Ministère de la Guerre:
In the south the Dauphin was able to recruit one regiment of mercenary crossbowmen for the pending attacks in northern Spain.
For myself, the pending trip across the channel means I've secured one regiment of mercenary crossbowmen.
Duke de Champagne was successful in his assault of Metz. Well done Sir!!

We have an unintentional rule violation by me regarding ship movement.
Don't take action on the save until I sort it out.
-EDIT-
Save is now open. Use CDf's latest one.
The ruling by Zim is that the "trip" continues, however I will purchase the extra ship when I land and remove one unit so we have moved only 4 units.
Happy hunting all.

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
While in general this report contains good news for France, but there is one troubling bit. It appears our most noble Seneschal has decided to send troops instead of a diplomat across the Channel. I don't know how the invasion of the isles will satisfy edict 1.8.1.
I do however, commend his hearty seafaring skills. To fit so many men at arms in such a small fleet is remarkable. Perhaps we can use his skills in moving people from a distant location. Say, Africa, for example.

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
Bruges is taken
We've lost few of our men and I commend the men of The Order for the good show they put on. I particularly commend the behaviour of Sieur de Neufville, who if a bit reckless, has shown great valour. (OOC : de Neufville and Philippe both gained +1 chevron).
I also thank our spy Aubry Fevre and send him to our Senechal for further orders.
The suitor that came asking for my daughter's hand has been rebuked but I've found a new use for him : from today, Sieur Arnaud de Vilaines shall be my shieldbearer (OOC : I've declined the marriage offer and got the "retinue expands" message at the same time...). War should take all matters of love out of his head quickly.

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
SENESHAL REPORT Season 3 (1084)
Le Trésor Royal:
My King, Dauphin, nobles of the realm. The third season was a qualified success.
After his successful mission for the King our agent is now heading to Wales which will hopefully bring about the same result.
Ser Bertin was able to build a watch tower east of Metz. It produced a certain level of “realisation” as to the activities of our German neighbours. They are blatantly disregarding our borders and are threatening Rheims as I write. This could be construed as an act of war in my opinion however cooler heads have advised me not to take this view.
Based on the lesser nobility's request and in line with Edict 1.3, I recruited a priest in Toulouse. This was met with great satisfaction in Rome.
Our diplomat is now heading towards a meeting with the Portuguese princess located near the Pyrenees. I hope he is as successful as Princess Constance.
Her Highness is now heading to Rome by way of Venice to secure another task by the lesser nobility. They do seem to have a number of demands these days, however they have an endless supply of rewards so I amuse them.
The following nobles have also been recognised for outstanding achievements.
I'm pleased to provide the following construction report:
Toulouse; Land clearance
The following construction have been completed:
le Ministère de la Guerre:
In the south the Dauphin continues his siege of Zaragoza .
Thierry de Rochefort and myself have begun the siege of Caernarvon. The English seem intent on the place as well.
Plus the King has successfully taken Bruges.

Constructed a fort near Bruges with funds allocated by the Senechal, to prevent further German incursions into French lands.
Mercenary crossbowmen have agreed to be lodged in the fort in exchange of pay (OOC : free upkeep).
The King is now in Reims, overseeing the movement of the Germans in the area, making sure they do not ravage our Champagne vineyards...

Re: Seneschal's and Nobles' Reports
SENESHAL REPORT Season 4 (1086)
Le Trésor Royal:
My King, Dauphin, nobles of the realm. The fourth season was rather dull with tensions increasing between us and the English.
Our agent has detected a rather large and well trained English army. Not that I really needed our royal spy to tell me this as the English bastard has decide to strike camp directly opposite me at the siege of Caernarvon!!
Duc de Champagne was able to build another watch tower on our eastern border. The one thing you can not say is that our Germanic neighbours are happy to stay at home.
Based on Edict 1.3 I recruit another priest, this time in Paris. This was in addition to another Diplomat who will be heading to Scotland as soon as he has mastered the art of eating haggis and speaking their unintelligible language.
We have a man petitioning the King for privilege and station. It shall be interesting to see what our beloved King does.
Our other diplomat swung by Bordeaux and attempted to secure Angers from the English. The wine is still good and they have not yet turned it into sheep piss, unfortunately that little slip of my tongue made it into the negotiations and I could swear we are starting to annoying our Kings cousin.
Never mind.
Her Highness dropped in on the Venetians, it was a wonderfully successful venture, gaining us trade rights and their maps plus the joy of our lessor nobility who saw fit to provide us with two regiments of mounted Sargent's in Paris.
The following nobles have also been recognised for outstanding achievements.
I'm pleased to provide the following construction report:
Nothing.
And you can blame all these laws regarding priest and diplomatic missions on this.
I did manage to repair the wall in Zaragoza though.
No construction has been completed this season.
However I hope to be able to have the resuorces to upgrade Metz next season.
le Ministère de la Guerre:
In the south the Dauphin has taken Zaragoza and is now sieging Valencia.
Thierry de Rochefort and myself continue the siege of Caernarvon. The English seem to have a certain, attraction to this place.
Things seem to be afoot as our apparent neighbours are active and using some rather provocative methods.
Here is the current reports from across the realm.
