The Lost City of Tikkal [Concluded]

After months traveling up the Amazon river, the expedition arrives at Tikkal. The vast city, long reclaimed by the jungle, hasn't been seen by human eyes for thousands of years. But the explorers aren't here on an archeological expedition. They intend to loot the temple for everything it's worth. Following the main road, they reach the temple at the heart of the city. At the top they discover a golden statue covered with gems, estimated worth $20 million. They have lost many men on the expedition and every night they spend in the jungle is dangerous. The sensible thing to do would be to leave now with their winnings. But will their greed send them on a different course?

Not a mafia game. For about 10-15 players.

I will post a map of the temple complex. Throughout the map treasure is laid out in a battleship-esque manner (in fact exactly like in battleship. Most squares will give a small amount of loot, others will give more (though each square is different) arranged in straight lines of 5,4,3,3 and 2 squares).

Each day, individual players make one of three choices, privately (pm's sent to me).

1) Explore the city

The player picks a few sets of coordinates and sends them to me. They get any loot from those squares (if more than one player visits it's split between them).

2) Kill somebody

Ah, greed. With each person who dies, your share of the money will increase. Those who do the killing divide up the individual loot of the deceased as well. Not all attempts succeed however, the commotion of a kill will put everyone else on alert. Whoever has the most people try and kill them dies (and if there is a tie, they all die).

3) Leave the city

If everyone decides to leave the city, then the game is over and everyone still living is a survivor. Whoever has the most money is the sole winner and champion of the game however. If future games are held, a champions list will be posted, and the highest scoring champion will be know as grand champion.

Any sole survivors get to describe themselves officially as being "Greedy conniving seahorses" :beam:

Each day will be 24 hours.

You are free to pm each other, form groups to cooperate and share information, secretly share that information with the group you are really working with, post pm evidence that someone you are working with is betraying another group...etc.

No screenshots, no chatlogs, and no talking once dead.

After each day I'll post who (if anyone) died, though I won't reveal how many tried to kill them. I'll then send night result pm's and the next day will start. If I get pm's fast enough to do a 12 hour period I will.

I think it could be interesting, post if you want to try it out. Rule suggestions are welcome as well, as I just thought this up today. Should be an exercise in trust and betrayal :book:

Day 1

The explorers were roused from their various activities by a scream. When the arrived at the source, they were shocked (well, some of them were shocked) to see the body of GeneralHankerchief, his head stove in by a large rock.

With one less shareholder in the $20 million, the individual shares have gone from $1,428,571.43 to $1,538,461.54

It seems GH's life was worth less than a 110 grand to someone or someones!

Not at this stage. Too busy trying to get money. I wouldn't recommend people going to 3C, I got $180 from there and since there is apparently 20 million in total.. yeah.. really bad pickings. Lots of plates/etc made out of pottery painted gold in colour.

There are two ways to play this game, we can work together, getting gold, then go, or we can go around, to kill each other, and end up getting nothing as you never spend any time to get any money.

I would recommend the first.

hmm, as a clarification:

Upon entering the city, the explorers found an artifact worth $20 million. This money will be divided up between the living when the they return to civilization, they are all equal shareholders.

There is an unspecified amount hidden in the city. Most squares give only a little loot (misses to use the battleship analogy). But there are temples and such with significant amounts (laid out in like in battleship--e.g. a temple 5 squares long with loot in each of the five squares).

Day 2:


The explorers woke up the following morning, wondering if any more accidents would occur, and making a mental note not to walk under any crumbling buildings. As the ate their morning oatmeal, Beskar suddenly began choking and writhing on the ground. Seems like he accidentally mixed some poison berries in with his food!

With one less shareholder in the $20 million, the individual shares have gone from $1,538,461.54 to a slightly ominous $1,666,666.66

Day 3:

Tragedy has struck the explorers camp! Shinseikhaan was found to have slipped and fallen on his own knife and Jolt slipped while climbing a tree and accidentally hung himself. There are some mutterings among the explorers that these deaths might not be accidents at all!

With two less shareholders in the $20 million, the individual shares have gone from a rightfully ominous $1,666,666.66 to $2,000,000.00. Surely that is enough to gratify the greed of the explorers?

Day 4:

Murder! The explorers are forced to face facts. There have been two many deaths for them to be mere coincidence. With the deaths of atheotes and Tratorix that has become abundantly clear.

With just 8 explorers remaining, individual shares have gone from $2 million to $2.5 million.

By now everyone is on their guard...unfortunately for taka, he let his mind wander while taking his morning bath and paid for it with his life.

With 7 alive, the individual share is now $2,857,142.86

They're fantastic. Sasaki has a knack for them, he had some cool ones in an asylum minimafia awhile back too.

Looks like there's a sign toward the bottom of the last one.

In the last one on page 2 there are people in the background and in the most recent one there's a white thingy on one of the lower steps.

And no one is commenting on the game huh? I provide a single distraction and everyone starts looking the other way. Very suspicious.

I think i have the game figured out now. Sasaki is the one killing... he will not let you leave...he will kill one by one taking great pleasure in doing so. In the end he will just take all the money and leave...and no one else is meant to leave alive :skull:

If any of the explorers thought the killings would end, they were disillusioned the following morning when the body of Reenk Roink was discovered by the food stores, strangled to death.

With 5 alive, the individual shares are up to $4 million.
