The New World Order...

Lately, I have come to ponder some aspects of the current politics...

From what I see, our whole world, that is, Earth, is heading in a direction I don't really feel suits me.

Just as an example... Today I had talk with an American who visited my local bar... I asked him about his thoughts of the wars, and his responce was: "what war, the one in Iraq?"

I gently reminded him of Afghanistan...

And you know what? He didn't know much about it!

Now, contrary to my main number of posts, this is not about US bashing.

This fellow I talked with was a very nice guy, in all respects.

Anyway, he and me sat down... And talked things through. He opened my eyes, and I do think I opened his a bit.

Warfare used to be done with an agenda.

But hey, what is the agenda now?

Iraq - to make a pre-emptive strike cause they had WMDs... Only, no WMDs were ever found.

Afghanistan - to capture Bin Laden, only, some 8 years after we still haven't got him.


Now, as to my head line...

The people behind the NWO (new world order) theory claims that "fake" wars will be made so people will not complain as their civilian rights are taken away.

It's a revolution, but not one made by arms, but one orchestrated (sp?) so that the average guy will ask for the change himself.

When I was a kid, I LOOOOOOVED the G.I. Joe comics.

There is this one episode where they discuss why they should fight Soviet. I don't remember the exact phrasing, but it was something along the lines of:

"The communists spies on their own people. If you oppose the state, you can be carried away without getting a fair trial, you can even be tortured. This is what we fight against, and that is why America will WIN!"

Now, doesn't that seem like somewhat of a joke?

We have the Echelon, we have Guantanamo, we have waterboarding...

Sorry, this is a rant and I just came home from the bar.



HOWEVER, and this is my main question of this whole thread...

And PLEASE, do not reply unless you answer this simple question.

My question to you all is:

Do you agree with me, that you would let the state have full insight in your lifes, only when you have full insight in the state?

That is the question I want answered.

I, for one, will only accept that the state has full insight into my life, if I get full insight to the state.

Is this agreeable by the mainstream in ths forum?

I have no problem with the state keeping secrets from me, if I am allowed to let my private life be a secret from the state.

The classic idea of America. Limit the government's power as much as possible (since they can't really be trusted) and maintain individual freedom and privacy.

Well, the fact is every body have things to hind, but they pretend that they haven’t. “If you have nothing to hind you have nothing to fear” is one of these sentences full of wind but quite efficient to shut-up people. I have things I don’t want people to know. Nothing illegal, but things I am not proud of. The sorts of things that make me blush of shame/remorse/whatever bad feeling when I remember.

So, yes, all the governments jumped on the US wagon about terrorism to take some liberties with our freedom. But, hey, it is to protect as against potential attack.
The very sad thing is: In London, after the bombs in the Tube and buses, people took bicycle to go to work: 2 years after the increase of death by road accident for cyclist had over take the number of dead due to the bombing campaign…
I think the government should ban bicycles, or cars, or both…

Nah, if they get full insight into my life they should at least give me all the monetary benefits I can get automatically without me running around filling out hundreds of papers and that will never happen so they can go look at their paragraphs instead of my life.

a) I don't trust the government to stick to their end of the deal;
b) "the state": that's alot of information, isn't it? I simply wouldn't have enough time to go check all the information available if I would have full insight in the state. Besides, what do you mean with that notion? Does it include full insight in the lives of all those who occupy an office and all state employees?

So my answer is: no.

State has no business with my private life. Keep out, please. However, I, as a citizen, am on a need to know basis on what the government/parliament does with the power, I, as a member of the people, have given them, and I, as a taxpayer, am also on a need to know basis on what they do with my money.

Full insight into the state, no insight by the state in my private life : yes.

ajaxfetish, I completely agree with the civilian part of the american dream (albeit not with the economical part, but that is another issue).

Only, I can not really see America as some beacon of light lately.

From where I am, I would think Americans would be the strongest opposers to a states attempt to control its citizens. But that just has not happened, has it?

I very much agree.

And as you say, everybody has things to hide. And it does not have to be illegal stuff.

I just want my sphere of existence where I am untroubbled by the state. And, I do have it now. My problem is that for every year, lately, this sphere gets smaller and smaller. I don't think things are out of hand where I live now, however, one must decide where to say "enough is enough".

Laws can turn dictatorial very fast in the hands of teh wrong people. I just don't want to sit 40 years from now and try to explain to my grandchildren why we did nothing.

My example of Iraq and Afghanistan was to show subdued the western minds has been lately. War used to mean something, now we cant very clearly explain why we are actualy fighting.

And to top it all off, these pseudo-wars are an excuse to change laws and such because of fear. Fear of what? I am not sure of this, but I think more got changed from these pseudo-wars, than, say, WWII.

Echelon... isn't really a conspiracy theory mate. You might want to look into it. Now we have our own version of Echelon in Sweden too, yey!

So no, it is not really 3 different topics. It's one.


Beskar, With "new world order" I meant just, well, the new order the world has. I mean how the world has changed lately...

From my own perspective, I wont sign theories of a octosquid invasion quite yet.

Western minds lately? How old are you? It's not that I'm faulting your age but you remind me of a lieutenant that uses the phrase "in my experience..." (or a private that says "I think..." but whatever). If anything, these wars have increased awareness of the world and the effects of war. How many people (in the U.S.) knew where Afghanistan was before 2001? How many people are getting a reality check on war after our shocking success in 1991? I do know about Echelon, and the conspiracy theories surrounding it. I also know something about technology and perceptions. The latter of which takes a lot of time to learn and can never be fully understood.

So, no, this "New World Order" is nothing to worry about. The phrase itself is old and a bit of a joke; and like quantum physics, the "order" is a state of constant disorder.

The main problem is that the state can never be trusted with full insight into citizens' lives. The "state" is only as honorable as the current scumbags running it. And they cannot be trusted to keep is secure (either through incompetence or malice). They cannot be trusted not to exploit it for monetary gain. They cannot be trusted not to exploit it for personal gain. And most importantly, they cannot be trusted not to exploit it for political gain. The state needs to know just 4 things about me: my address, my voting/jury/draft eligibility, my income for tax purposes, and my criminal record if applicable.

For the reverse, we should have full insight into the people running the state, but not necessarily the state itself.

The true New World Order.
