This was all built on my bones and blood.
Spain's fault.
Never been to SA, so I have to say Houston.
Las Vegas is in Texas right?
Yes, San Antonio would be my favorite too. At least of the large cities.
My favorite region of Texas is the Hill Country.
Anyone else?
Huston lacks the personality and hospitality that you will find in San Antonio, at least that is what I think.
Either San Antonio or Austin.
I think San Antonio, but I do love Corpus Christi too and Austin is a great party spot.
My hometown. Though that really is a terrible article.
abilene. been there. loved it
Never been abroad, let alone texas, however I have to thank texans for creating that awesome variety of poker - texas hold em' :balloon2:
The only time I have ever been to Texas was when I was just a youngin' and we visited my great uncle Morris. He lived in Orange, Texas and worked in a shipyard. Not sure where that is, but I believe it's East Texas. which probably don't count as True Texas for yew West Texas folks....:laugh4:
here
I don't live to far from there either. :laugh4:
El Paso is like San Antonio but with less history and more drug cartels. It is beautifual out there though.
And yes we deffintley should meet up. How much longer do you think you'll be in SA?
And now we may procede to talk about anything TEXAS.
THATS WHY THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE PINNED
Dangit.
I go off and try and serve our country for a few months, and next thing I know this place has a dang Texas thread... and someone is even talking about stickying the thing. Breaks my little cadien/isleno heart.
P.S.
Amarillo or maybe Beaumont.
Beaumont? Ugh I don't see why that would be your favorite place.

Welcome back, Yoyoma ~
Where SFTS is, is my favourite Texan city. Even if he would be outside Texas, his mere presence in a city makes that whole city Texan and, by definition, my favourite Texan city.
Houston.
'cause I was born there. That's right, I'm technically a Texan. :cowboy:
TinCowBoy
:thinking2:
Does anyone have any questions about Texas? I'd be more than happy to enlighten you.
Thanks for the pin
If the US were ever to break up, and the other 49 stayes wanted to secede from Texas, would you be in favour of forcing them to stay in, or would you let them go?
I am asking this, because I occasionaly pick up signals that some European states wish to be relieved of the guidance of the biggest state of their Union too, and I need to know how to deal with such ingratitude. :book:
Edit: thank you mods, for stickying this important thread.
It's like dealing with children. Clearly the children are inferior to you in everyway so patience is key. You need to let them make there own decsions and mistakes.
One day when they are all grown and strong they will thank you for your guidance and stregnth.
Sweets help to. Give Holland a big chocolate.
Completely country-ist! Would you sticky an UK thread? I think not! (but to be fair I wouldn't either, its awful here :sweatdrop: )
i want to live in Paris.
What's the best movie to take place in Texas? No country for old men? Death proof?
If I would ever travel to Texas but only have limited time, which 3 places do I absolutely have to visit.
And which typical Texan dishes should I try on my journey?
My favourite town
why is everything in texas big
That's for the tourists who know nothing about Texas other than it's big. No Texan actually brags about the size of Texas. Or none that I've ever known.
Australia has big things

My main question at this point is how/why does such wonderful food (Tex-Mex) come from such an obnoxious state?
IIRC it is set there

Yep. Add one more person to the They're-Just-Jealous list. It's okay, I understand. If I was from anywhere other than Texas I would be jealous too. Freud calls what you're doing "Projecting". You do have the option of moving here, you know.
True story, I almost took a job in Austin out of college. One of the major reasons that I didn't take it was because it was in Texas. :laugh4: Just didn't want to live down there. The other job I took was in NC, which is where I wanted to move to all along.
You'd take NC over Texas? wow. Must have to be born into that area to like it, six weeks in Georgia was enough to convince to never go back.
How likely is it that if you live in Texas, that something that you wouldn't have encountered outside of Texas will kill you?
This is all I care about in Texas, apart from BBQ.

Why is this pinned?
And Brokeback Mountain was set in Wyoming...
The Jackelope which is indigineous to Texas has been known to kill unsuspecting tourists.
And honestly, I don't know why this was pinned it doesn't make sense to me either, but I'm having fun.
Is Texas the Bavaria of the US or is it the other way round?
And this is just a small one.

I'm telling you: watch out for those jackelopes. At first you out-of-staters are all "Aww, how cool!" And then you find out what those antlers are really for. Well, we're just guessing about the "Aww, how cool!" part cuz none of you tourists live long enough to tell us what went through their minds.
I wish I had something to say that's good about Texas.
*think's for a moment*
Ah yes! the Houston Museum of Natural History.
El paso Texas!
That and Ciudad Juarez is where i am from :)
Yes. Also, there are a lot of similarities. Compare:
- both people occupy a relatively large state to the south
- both people are iconic to there respective countries
- both people are thought to wear funny cloth and hats
- both people are famous for fancying cattle more than others
- both people feature a distinct dialect (tho the Bavarians have the advantage in this case)
maybe.
thing is, Texas doesn't have all the attractions other states have.
the only things going for it in fact are in fact a single president-not a popular one*-and peopled with humans possessing the ego of a small planet each. the last one I do admit is an amusing-and perhaps great-trait. and don't get me started on the Alamo-I read the history back and forth, and I came to the conclusion that Colonel Travis was either mad or on something. then again, so was Santa Anna.
I might be severely biased though-I did practically rot under the weather there for 3 1/2 years (Brazoria county, south of Houston).
*Lyndon Johnson. "dubya" is really a new englander.
If I wasn't Scottish I'd be Texan
If I wasn't Ugandan, I'd be Scottish.
Idi Amin
So basically all Ugandans want to be Texan. I see. You peel back the layers and eventually you realize that everyone wishes they were born in Texas.
Dang, I come back on the 16th. We should hang out brah.
I usually drink at any place that doenst check ID ~;) Im sure as a forigener you're still getting a kick out of downtown and thats great Im glad your liking it. I have spent many a friday night at cowboys they usually have half decent music.
Have you been around to the area around St.Marys street? I know there are allot of places there they cater to college age students (including the White Rabbit which is the place to go for some rock n roll...and meth)
I like how you name your eateries/watering holes after things in Texas.
Supposedly it's a good time, I've never been not really my scene.
hehehe. Please tell me your g/f can 2step and square dance.
The riverwalk is kind of pricey man, I know being at Sam means you're close but there are much cheaper dives.
Have you been to Liberty Bar? That's a treat. Also if you even need some good eateries ask me, I know this city like the back of my hand.
You don't know the half of it ~:)
Another question about Texas.
If Texas is so awesome, why did they surrender their independence and be annexed by the USA?
There were two political camps(they never formed parties) in Texas: Those that wanted to be Independent and those that wanted annexation from the very get go. It is interesting to note that none of the original Tejanos or Texians who had been in Texas long before the War for Texas Independence wanted annexation but were out-numbered by the huge migrations that took place directly before and after the war. So in the end the numericaly superior newcomers swayed the politics to annexation. It's one of the reasons that Texian families still identify themselves as such, to identify themselves as a more respected(though not necessarily wealthier or influential or powerful) and seperate class within Texas.
