Seven Man Scrimmage 2: The Jester's Game [Concluded]

Welcome to the second instalment of the Seven Man Scrimmage (SMS) series!

As you may or may not know, the first game of the series ended with a narrow mafia win. It was a traditional C9 game in which the two traditional powerroles had been exchanged for lynch-triggered bombs.

This next game is going to leave the players slightly less in the dark concerning the roles in the game. First of all, there will be a jester figure in this game. For those who do not know this, a Jester wins by being lynched.
Secondly, there will be no mafia team and there will be no night phase. As such, the only granted method of killing is lynching. There will be one or more special roles apart from the Jester role.

Because of the odd setup, the town victory condition is to avoid the lynching of the jester. The jester being the last person standing will automatically trigger this, and to avoid any unlucky final-round mess-up, the jester's vote will be a negative tiebreaker, meaning that someone with the jester's vote on him will always "lose" the tie (ie. stay alive).

The day phases will be 24 hours each and there are, as mentioned, no night phases. Any roles that would normally work at nighttime/night update needs to send their orders in an hour before the deadline. For this to work properly, the orders can be conditional. Per example, an investigator might want to write "If Atheotes is not lynched, I will investigate him. Otherwise, investigate Thermal Mercury" to avoid wasting his nighttime ability.

This means that the Jester's vote is effectively "half a vote". Any ties where the Jester's vote is considered, aren't really "ties" since the person that the jester is not voting for will always be lynched. Other ties are broken by RNG.

That said there may be one or more of the roles in-game that have additional/limited voting capacity and as such what looks like a tie might not be one. An example:

Player X: Jester, Townie, Doublevoter
Player Y: Townie, Townie, Townie

In this case, it might look like Player Y's being lynched because of the Jester voting him, while in reality there is no tie because one of the votes for Player X is a double (making it 3.5 vs 3 votes).

If there is anything else that needs clarification please, do ask.

I'll update the OP and send out PMs before starting the game. The first round will be roughly 36 hours, every subsequent round 24 hours.

The PMs are out and the game has begun! The first day will last 36 hours (until 9 PM tomorrow, CET). Any update orders must be in an hour in advance (8 PM CET). Every subsequent day will last 24 hours and thus these times should be considered the standard deadlines

If anyone has questions, please direct to me either in private (if they are about your character) or in this thread (if they are about the rules in general).

Feel free to start posting. Please keep accusations in the standard, bolded format.

I just realised, by the looks of it, this looks like my Lift Escape! Mini-Mafia game.

In that game, you "save" people, oppose to Lynching them and in the group of people, there is a Serial Killer, and if you save the Serial Killer, the game ends as he kills everyone. (Thus, he is just like a jester)

This game is going to be the weirdest thing on four wheels.

If we don't vote, the Jester just votes himself and wins. So we need to vote non-jesters, every time.

Look for weirdness in the vote results that can't be accounted for by claimed power roles; if that fails, worry about the claimed power roles; if there are no claimed power roles at any given time, analyze behavior and past votes.

It's weird because the safest thing to do if you're not a jester is to vote yourself.

Or vote Beskar, since he's not in the game.

The first question was answered, I believe, and the second is answered by me above; Random.org will handle that (and you will not know whether there was a tiebreak by random or by another effect).

i am the voteless townie. my vote means nothing. when he tallies up votes mine doesnt stand for anything. i know i have deceived some of you lately, in particular atpg. (yes it is one of my greatest accomplishments that i was the lie upon which was based an entire strategy).

If you are that concerned about me, then you should have voted for Centurion1. You didn't do it.

CDF is reading townie to me right now. His argument about voting Thermal Mercury feels sincere to me. I'd vote him before anyone else save myself.

If TM is town and thinks I might be the jester, then his self-vote makes sense. If he's the jester, then with two votes on me he'd have put himself into an apparent tie, actual (barring power roles) second place. A slightly risky move, random.org notwithstanding.

Jesters break ties I think, so well, ummm ,feel free to vote for me :juggle2:

It sounds like a shady request but if Renata is the Jester (she voted herself into the lead, which is suspicious) then I'll need another vote.

Actually I didn't realize I'd voted myself into the lead at the time I did it, though I obviously can't prove that. I hadn't noticed the vote on split was a vote change and thought I was putting the third vote on myself against Centurion's claimed 1 (possible 1.5), not the second. Not that it really matters; my aim was in any case the same.

You are wrong about the Jester's vote function, that's why I asked for clarification before the game started. The Jester is a negative tie-breaker, vote worth 1/2 rather than 1 full vote. If you believed that the Jester was a traditional tie-break and you believed I might be the jester, then why did you put the second vote on yourself without a request for more right then? Why only in a separate post some 45 minutes later?

I put a vote on myself because I didn't think about the tie-breaker thing until I re-read over the rules it hadn't occurred to me. So it seems we've both made a few mix-ups.

I see it is negative, so I don't need more votes, good. :laugh4:

This is taken into consideration and there is at least one game mechanic that could obstruct it.

Centurion would trump the jester in the not-getting-lynched sweepstakes if he's telling the truth; that might be the mechanism DE is referring to or it might be something(s) else, but I'm not betting the farm on it.

I have a hunch that many people are "one shot" roles, as I am a one shot lynch stopper.


If I think we're lynching the jester, I'll throw my ability out there and stop him from being lynched, in a pinch... I could also use this to stop the lynch of a pro-town role, such as you CDF, or others...

That's certainly more plausible than if it came with exceptions.

here is a plan...
CDF can use his ability to kill someone... if it is the jester..we win.
if not we have removed one more townie and confirmed that CDF is a townie.
we can all vote for him. and Split can use his ability to stop that. thereby proving he is a townie. this we have narrowed down the suspects.
the biggest problem i see with this is the fact that we dont know what abilities the jester has.

The bolded part makes no sense.

I can stop anybody's lynch, period. Save my own...

it doesn't prove anything, and it wastes my ability...
