Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly [Concluded]
A howling wind preyed across the desert, rustling the dry grass and whipping up sand.
The little village was - literally - in the middle of nothing, and its inhabitants were so few that those of them whose hands were intact could count them on two hands.
The village had a quite odd name. In former days, it had been bustling in glory and carried the impressive name "Cactoo Valley" with pride, its saloon had had new guests every day and the inn had seen shootouts and all sorts of cardgames with their associated cheaters and gamblers. In time, the people of Cactoo Valley had become rich. Especially the mayor, who was also the local minister - one of the few holy men of the wild west and a succesful gambler, renowned especially for his skills in the Blackjack tournament, who had literally owned a pile of gold. Rumours had it that his glass eye was actually a large diamond.
But then, a stranger had come to town. Most whispered only of him as "The dreaded rider", some used his self-instituted rank of "anti-capitalist". Few men dared say his name - pevergreen - out loud. With him came death and destruction, and those who were lucky enough to survive didn't look back as they left their proud town. The prestigious town of Cactoo Valley had become a small and deserted gathering of shacks, forever scarred by its city signs, reading "actoo alley" one and all.
But now, pevergreen had left the town and its handful of inhabitants in peace. He had been unable to find the mayor's stash, and now, slowly creeping out from their hidings, some of the seven remaining men thought that perhaps they could claim the mayor's gold as their own...

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The PMs will be out shortly. If you do not recieve a PM, you are an ordinary townsperson.
There is no "Abstain" or "No lynch" voting options. Votes should be kept in the standard format (vote: AskThePizzaGuy).
Night and day phases will last 24 hours each, although exceptions can occur. If I think this becomes necessary, I will post it clearly in the thread in advance.
Revealing role PMs in private or in public is allowed (but extremely stupid if you want to win).
Roles are distributed with RNG. Any lynch ties will also be resolved with RNG.
With that said, let the game begin...
Seven huddled figures appeared in the centre of the village. An old, barren well was the centrepiece of the small, sandy plaza, and it was lined with old, dry throughs in front of the deserted and worn surfaces of houses. The seven men looked at each other. Everyone were weatherworn, hardliving, survivors of the brutality that had sweeped through the city.
But in the eyes of some of them, greed for gold gleamed. And hidden beneath the vests of at least one of them, the revolvers rested, their barrels cool.
For now, at least...
It is now day! Night falls in roughly 28½ hours!

Tell Beefy that I told him all that I know already.
Tell him I want to live in peace, understand?

Just so I don't die, you got that assumption completely wrong and I can prove it.
In a game with 7 players, it is very unlikely that there is 2 mafias. It is even more unlikely that they are team mates. Chance of both of those being true is astronomical.
I'm not sure what happened in the jester game, but the first game of this series had 2 bombers and a mafia. So my guess is that there is one good, one bad and one ugly in this game.
Unless good and ugly or bad and the ugly is allied, that is impossible.
And we are playing Diamondeyes game. If this one one of Pizza, we might have the chance to witness Good+ Bad team.

I still suspect that TM and Beefy are mafia buddies, but Beefy's "there can't be 2 mafia" defence is so weak*, that I've decided to switch my vote to him.

*Beefy played a key role in the first of DE's scrimmage games in which the mafia did have two players - TM and atheotes. Here's the first line of their team PM:

All of Diamondeye's games are new concepts, there is no reason why the 2 mafia traditional should continue. Besides, I think my vote speaks more volumes than reminiscing about old games trends. I voted for beefy, which shows I don't believe his logic. :balloon2:

Of course, there might be just one villain in this game. But there could just as easily be two. Are you trying to subtly back up Beefy's argument at the same time as distancing yourself from him?
In any case, the fact that the pair of you have voted against one another proves nothing. Under the circumstances, whether or not you were Mafia buddies, it would be the sensible thing to do.

Why would it be sensible for Beefy to vote for me to save himself? I doubt hes thinking 'crap, I'm mafia, ill kill my mafia partner instead to save myself' It doesn't make sense, he should just commit suicide if that was his attitude, and this is with the logic that there are 2 mafia, when there probably is 1.
Your allowed to believe what you want, but statistically its quite absurd. And if there were two mafia, you should be so soo lucky to know who they are on round one. I don't believe I've done anything to mafia-like but you will be able to enlighten me there no doubt. It seems that I'm supposedly mafia in every game nowadays, at least in other players eyes.

It being clear by that point that one of you two was almost certainly going to be lynched, if you were both mafia then the sensible thing would be to accuse each other, thus suggesting to the rest of us that you were not, in fact, mafia buddies.
Of course, casting your votes for one another would also be the sensible thing to do if one or both of you were innocent. So the votes themselves are no evidence of guilt.
But if I'm wrong, and you're both innocent, then I'll be fascinated to hear what your explanations are for failing to grasp some pretty basic mafia logic, and for why you acted in such a way as to suggest a connection between you in the first place. After all, neither of these things is remotely helpful to the innocent cause.

???
You say that if we are both either innocent or mafia we would vote for each other, yet you regard me as having a 'failing to grasp some pretty basic mafia logic'? If this tactic is as likely done by innocence as it is mafia then why is it exclusively mafia logic? Your clutching at straws Winston. The only way I acted was with the standard Beefy is cool, don't lynch him routine, which most people use. Which then turned into, I'll vote for -insert name here- to save my own skin, another tactic used by the average player. Talk about paranoid... :argue:

Sorry, the way I put that was rather confusing. When I said 'mafia logic', I meant the logic of the game, not the logic of the villains in particular. Nevertheless, you still don't seem to be grasping the essential point: if you were both mafia, this is one situation where voting for each other would seem the only sensible thing to do.

A convenient explanation. But that's part of the problem. I don't like collusion between players being so easily explained away. If this is really something "most people use", then it would seem ripe for abuse. And, as I said, it's really not the kind of thing that helps the innocent cause.

Ah, the unsubstantiated ad hominem...
Sadly, I don't know you well enough to say if this kind of thing is typical behaviour when under pressure on the first day, or if you only react like this when you're guilty.
Perhaps one of the other guys can fill me in on that (seriously, it would be nice to hear other people's opinions - whether you guys think I'm wrong or right, I'd rather hear it now than wait 'til after the results come in).

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
TM performs very well under pressure (The C2 Game is the best example of this).
Seeing the conversation between TM and WH, I'm pretty confident that TM and the Beef are mafia.
-
Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Fine I'll squeal.
I am not the bad guy, but I am the Good. And since I revealed that, I am gone anyway.
Allow me to live for one night so I can... attempt to do something.
And also, I don't believe TM to be guilty. That was a desperate attempt to keep my self alive.

Yes, if we were both mafia voting each other would be a sensible thing to do, however you point out yourself a few posts up that this is typical townie behavior too, which basically proves nothing.

You think your hunting badguys when all your doing is digging a hole for the townies koffin to go in. And I'm sure you'll be there at the funeral dancing over our grave. I am sorry if me pointing out the flaws in your theories look desperate. Evidently, as you say beefy is closer to getting lynched than me, so why would I ramble on like this and draw extra attention to myself when I could just let him die? Its not like any other candidate will be chosen, its simply me and him.

Ok then, in another way of putting it, I was creating a draw between 2 players to stop mafia coming along and bandwagonning a possible townie to the high heavens. Which is much better reasoning for the same action. I never thought you would see an attachment between us for this to be fair, besides, beefy wouldn't have had to change his vote to me, he could have convinced someone else to vote for you no doubt, one more vote is all he would have needed to lynch you I reckon. To doom a mafia partner so early in the day seems fruitless, but you don't buy it so I won't sell it...

I wouldn't say I ever had typical behavior, Its ironic that when I was on the offensive in Diamondeyes first game here, it was me who was mafia, perhaps as your on the offensive now, that you took the same role as I?
I find it somewhat futile to think I have typical behavior depending on my alignment to, I don't just go, 'Wey hey I'm mafia, I must make sure I use that emote and shout chicken as a signal to destroy me' When I am mafia I tend to forget I am mafia, and think myself a viglante, the best way to play well as a mafia is to play well as a townie, after all, once town believes you your set to go.
Subotan would naturally agree with you because he got completely crossed by me in one of diamondeyes other games, though I think voting for me because of an old game is old in itself...the reason I am so protective is to please you guys in a way, you keep replying with lots of questions and theories, so I have to reply and once more, I'll reply with a strong view and some good reasoning, if you don't like that then I'll just let you accuse me of everything and anything you want so mafia receive there desired result.

Except that it was a hollow defence in the first place, which was exactly my point. A point, I might add, which you seem determined to miss.
And everything else you just said was little more than chaff - the kind of stuff you put up to make it look like you've got a real case to make.
Maybe I'm wrong, and you're innocent as can be. But if you think that obfuscation and misdirection are going to help your cause, then I'm afraid you are very much mistaken.

Your way of saying I can't be bothered to reply no doubt. I'm not putting things up to make it look like I have a case to make, simply because there is no case, infact this whole quarrel came about after you accused me and beefy of being mafia in a situation where most townies wouldn't even get a second look... Infact, whilst were on the subject of scummy voting, how about you changing your vote to save your own back even though you'd only been tied with someone, not even in danger yet feeling the need to protect yourself.
Anyway, I've replied to what you've said as well as I can, theres only so much I can say depending on what is it your accusing me of. I still don't see how I'm missing something given that I went through each part of what you said and replied to it. Not all of what I said related to you entirely, but some of it to subotan and some of it to myself.
Well the votings closed, I think beefys for the chop and despite everything, I am very happy with the result, I'm not referring to beefys death, but just everything that happened in the round.

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Day 1 has ended! (Apologies for the delays!)
The seven inhabitants of the village had argued for what seemed like at eternity, the shadow of the village gallows growing longer as the sun sank towards the horizon.
When it finally touched it, there was a rather clear majority of the people pushing for the lynch of Beefy187. Beefy protested and resisted, but the mob dragged him towards the noose nonetheless. When he felt the wooden platform under his feet, Beefy realized that his final moment was almost there. With a forceful movement, he broke one of his arms free and reached inside his vest, pulling out a revolver. "Damn you all to hell, that gold be mine!", he yelled and pointed the piece at one of the men holding him, but someone else from the small crowd bashed the weapon out of Beefy's hand before he could shoot, and the weapon skidded across the sand. Soon thereafter, Beefy's figure hung from one of the gallows, noose tightened around his neck. The ecstasy of gold had cost Beefy The Bad his life.
It is now night! People with nighttime abilities, send me your orders!
Day breaks in roughly 30 hours!

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Night 1 has ended!
The village seemed silent - which was very understandable considering its few inhabitants and the fact that it was night - but actually, several persons were not sleeping.
Winston Hughes was celebrating what he felt was his catch of a villain of large proportions, sitting in the deserted saloon and pouring himself "just one more" brandy to celebrate before heading back to sleep.
Perhaps the alcohol had dulled his senses, or perhaps he heard the door of the saloon creak after all, but he didn't turn around as another figure entered. In the dark, the man's revolver reflected the scarce light as he raised it to shoot.
Three bullets in point blank range hammered through Winston's head and a fourth shattered the mirror on the opposite side of the bar. The assassilant quickly left the scene, repocketing his revolver.
On his way, the man stopped. Something was not right. He looked around the village a minute before he understood what. The light in Subotan's house was lit. The man hurried towards the house just as a loud noise erupted, followed by a series of shots. When Winston's killer tried to enter the house, he was violently pushed aside by the man leaving the house. They both fled before the dawning light to their own houses, but when the four remaining townspeople met at morning, they quickly went to check on Subotan. Sure enough, with six gruesome bulletwounds, the innocent man was draped in linen, stiff by his own dried blood.
It was clear that there were still people out there who sought the gold for their own and cared little for the lives of others, and so yet another noose was slung upon the gallowbar. Who would hang this day?
It is now day! Night falls in roughly 24 hours!
Please keep votes in the traditional format!

GM Comment: Is this a vote? If so, please re-iterate it in the proper form ("vote: Dude!")

Vote: Thermal Mercury
I'm surprised no one else has given an opinion or been suspicious against someone.

Other than me, do you find anyone else suspicious?

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Lol! Other then Winston, I know none of you and no one has chatted with me even so much as a peep, so yes, I find everyone suspicious. Especially since there appears to be two killers rather then one. Currently, you [TM] seem to be the best option.

Re: Seven man Scrimmage 3: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Day 2 has ended!
The small crowd gathered below the newly noosed gallows. Two murderers had been busy that night and it seemed necessary to punish someone for these henious acts, but none of the four people seemed eager to throw the first stone.
Eventually, though, one of them said, more out of curiousity than anything else. "Well, it's gotta be you, Thermal Mercury."
That comment hung for a moment in the air before the others realized that Thermal did not try and deny it. Two of the men took hold of Thermal Mercury and dragged him to the gallows. He didn't resist, merely looked at the third person, his sole accusor, while talking slowly: "Aren't there anyone else you find suspicious?"
The men didn't listen and instead strapped the noose around Thermal Mercury's neck and lynched him.
As soon as they tied the ropes, however, Atheotes and Double A heard a suspicious sound. As they turned around. Methos was standing, a cigarette in his mouth and a revolver in each hand. "I don't s'pose you know where the gold is, so there's really no point in askin', huh?", he asked them - a quite rhetorical question considering he followed it up with a full salute that left the two men bleeding to death in the sand. He quietly reloaded his revolvers and put them away before trekking back towards the city square to begin his search for the gold - in solitude.
Methos the Ugly has won!
The innocents were outmanned two to one in the beginning of a nightphase that would have allowed a kill. All other powerroles had been eliminated and as such this was the only possible outcome of the game.
Congratulations to Methos for his victory, and thanks to all who played!
