Might as well get this new forum rocking, get it? OK sorry.:sweatdrop:
Anyway my game, no 2 on the list has been ready to go for weeks. I have only hosted one mini game before, at TWC and it was pretty lame but I'm hoping this goes better. Intro:
In the haunted house at the top of the hill the dead musicians were getting ready to practice for the gig they were going to play as the world ended in 2012. The invitation had gone out to twelve legends, yet somehow fifteen had turned up. "The more the merrier" they all thought and proceeded to start jamming, immediately twelve stopped in horror at the appalling racket and the other three managed to stop just in time. Three of the band were still alive, and horror of horrors they were pop stars! There was even a definite Disney vibe in the room! They looked at each other and realised they were going to have to weed out the living if they wanted the world to end to a good soundtrack. The only way was to vote at the end of each day for somebody to be exorcised, if nothing happened they would know it was an imposter and he would be "punished". They all realised what would happen if they voted for a real ghost...
Looking for fifteen players. Feel free to sign up now, I will pm any early sign ups when the game is ready to start.
"I wanna rock and roll all niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhht..."
Ooooh, a definite Disney vibe! Does that mean that the mafia is none other than Miley Cyrus? I bet there's some .Orgahs who'd like to 'lynch' her... :o
You can count me in for this once you post it in the Gameroom proper!

What makes you think neither of those will be in? Like I say it's based on my musical taste, the townie roles will not necessarily all be "rock n roll".

Re: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The fact that nobody wants to play in these games saddens me.
I wonder if it's due to them being small games, or due to them being hosted by "rookie" hosts like Cent and john.
In the first case, I feel that small games are just as fun as large games, but they just have a different feel. In the second case, that's really just unfair- how are the less-experienced hosts going to get more experience if nobody plays their games?? And hosting isn't even that difficult- in very few cases have I ever seen a bad host or an unbalanced game. What's making people who line up to join Mafia IX, Shadow Fort, and Star Wars suddenly chicken out when they see this one? I've even done a little advertising in those threads for Cent's game and got no results.
Sorry about that rant. It's just been a while since I played a good small game since they take so :daisy: long to get sign-ups for. I really like small games. I'm also better as a mafioso in smaller games than in large ones (go figure :laugh4:).
Anyway, I hope this fills up soon.

Re: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
I agree Chaotix, players just effectively go 'they've hosted good games before, I'll stick with what I know' I agree small games are easily as good, its more intimate, easy to keep track off and less to suspect, yet that in itself often generates discussion.
Johnhughthom needs willing players, he has done AAR's, he is an accomplished writer, I already tell that this will be good if things go to plan....

Everything you both said pretty much sums up how I feel too; just go around like a walking advertisement as I do or poke people you know into signing up. I've poked Beskie into signing up, hopefully more will follow suit.
I think that the forum's generally missing the likes of CDf and Centurion who would join a game like this without hesitation, it's simply that they're busy with endeavours outside of the Org for the time being. It's just getting towards that time of year when people are preoccupied with other things. All the new or returning blood I see generally seems to steer towards the larger games too, which is a shame and probably doesn't help.
johnhughthom's clearly put alot of thought and effort into this and you can be assured it's going to be fun, so sign up!

The game has changed hugely since the version you saw, mafia, townies and abilities have all changed since then. I don't think you would have any sort of advantage if you played.

Steam badgering FTW.
I've sent out some invite pms, I'll give it a few days and if nobody else joins I can cut the game to twelve. Although the hardest part of making the game so far has been which townies to use, I had a group of nearly thirty and they've been chopped and changed for the last few months. Deciding whether I should include Richey Edwards or not meant the game has constantly changed as I've had him in and then out, then back in again. I decided he shouldn't be in the game, I still live in hope.

I've also decided on a new day ability, as well as voting to lynch you can also vote for somebody to sing a song. This may expose mafia and clear townies, however the town will need to wait until the next day phase to lynch any mafia uncovered. Only one lynch or sing-song will be allowed each day phase.

I had originally intended to host a smaller scale version of this there, I had a completely different game in mind for this slot here, but it kept growing and I knew I'd never get 15 at TWC. I mean look at how slow sign ups are for DG's new game over there and his games are always good. hint, hint Orgahs.

Ok I've decided thirteen is the perfect number for a game about dead people, role pms will be going out soon. Here is a sample, one of the two roles I cut from the game:
A shy man hampered by illness brought on by his epilepsy, Curtis' lyrics give us an insight into a man never
comfortable in the limelight. He took his own life in 1980 at the age of 23.
Normal townie you can help eliminate the Disney scum by voting and taking part in discussions.
VC: Eliminate the mafia, survive.
Game begins with a day phase, give me an hour to get pms out and we'll begin midnight BST.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Day One.
The musicians gathered around to watch the warm up act before todays rehearsal, The Ramones were first up:
They weren't all dead but at least the living members had the decency not to pretend to be ghosts. As everybody enjoyed the warm up they looked amongst each other nervously, wondering who the imposters were. They would have to decide whether to attempt an exorcism on one of their number or force somebody to perform to prove they were a genuine legend and not some talentless teenager.

As Elvis walked up to perform the lunchtime act he cast a sidelong glance at Secura who had failed to spell his name correctly. Elvis was angry, first he was omitted from the main act, now his name was being spelt wrong.... The King knew Secura had been playing a lot of Football Manager recently, perhaps she had Steven Pressley, who had been a good signing for managers looking an inexpensive central defender a few years ago, on her mind. He decided he wouldn't hold the slip of the keyboard against her.
