1. AutoCalc Craziness?
2. AI sucks at siege battles?
3. console autowin?
4. sometimes when I'm in a battle and I exit, it says "if you leave now, you will lose the battle" - I exit, and magically it says I won instead of losing, with the enemy suffering heavy casulties
Never seen that happen. He probably ran around the map until he won like Bennie Hill.
1063 + 874 doesn't equal 2083
I'm not sure.
They are counted IIRC. Siege battles seems to be the case, I remember times where the computer would deploy his army before the towers, I pressed triple speed and relaxed..
I don't know the difference though, it should be friendly fire, ballistas horribly gone wrong maybe?
~Fluvius
How about you cut the screen? There was another army around?
what intrigues me is the "average victory"
Ιt's a siege battle which involved the AI stupidly marching his troops along walls. Possibly extremely low-tier units (apeleutheroi???) cut down in droves by Cnaeus Cornelius Scipio Asina who at some point slew the enemy general (Hamalcar). After that the Carthaginians fled the battlefield rescuing a large part of their army...
Some correct, most wrong.
Mass routing at the walls after some died, and the general pursued the soldiers
single Eqvites Consvlares unit guarding a city with large wall against tons of Carthaginian hordes, when they try to scale with siege tower, some tower was broken (explain the "missing" numbers). After that, they try to run one by one toward the down side of the wall, and the Eqvites got easy time picking them one by one....
Right?
And time up.... you win average victory... it was all just pretty 45 minutes, you could sit back and relax with triple speed
Why the hell is it an avarage victory? It should be heroic by any standards
they've been killed by your towers during a siege, as the AI is intelligent ehough to sit at the feet of your walls and get killed... and while they go away, you sally forth with your cav, just to attract them once more to your towers, and they get decimated... is that it?
There is one vital element everybody is missing, which is the reason I was able to kill so many, and why the enemy dead numbers don't add up. My AAR (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...c-A-Romani-AAR) should give you a clue where the battle took place, think of the make up of the enemy army.
Shameless plug for my AAR!:laugh4:
Large unit size...
John is such a tease! :laugh4:
Speaking of friendly fire and Karthadastim, my guess is that they besieged one of the Romani cities, guarded by a FM with his bodyguards, and the Karthadastim had a unit of elephants in their army. Then the elephants, being under fire by the towers, run amok and there's your friendly fire! The rest is already mentioned by previous posters.
Yay we have a wiener! Noble Wrath with his fourth post in sixteen months wins.
I had my Consular army in a nice position in central Sicily awaiting the First Punic War deciding big Sicilian battle that always seems to happen. Went slightly differently this time (probably because I hadn't left Syracuse until after the war as I usual do) they marched past my army and assaulted Syracuse with their elephants. Syracuse, a city with huge stone walls. The army split into two and assaulted a diffferent gate, the spearmen lined up behind the elephants within range of the towers. One by one the elephants walked up to the gates and were killed by boling oil. Eventually they went berserk, back through the ranks of the spearmen, hence the "friendly trampling" The elephants went for a little dance off the map, taking ages to actually rout, letting my towers kill even more of the spearmen.
I think the reason for the average victory was the fact my army didn't actually kill anyone...
How long did the battle take altogether?
I had it on triple speed, probably ten minutes.
:-) Well, as I stated before I would have never guessed it, if it wasn't for the suggestions by the other members. Sort of "a dwarf standing on the shoulders of giants"
(btw while writing this post I found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standin...ders_of_giants the history of this phrase. EB can be educative in many dubious ways...)
Does this mean I have the right to post my own riddle? Well, sorry to ruin it guys, but I can no longer play the game. In fact I deleted my Windows installation and put Linux on my pc one month ago for the specific reason that I played wayyyy too many hours EB! Aside from educative EB can be harmfull for the weak.. Cheers guys!
Nooooooooo! We have lost another great man. Noble Wrath you will be missed dearly.
Which distro?!
Still sad =[
We shall all, brothers, remember the devotion of Noble Wrath on those bloodied battlefield. Let us also remember him as a dear companion, at our side in the phalanx, or brother at arm in the legion. many have crumbled in front of his mighht and today our friend leave with the setting sun. Wi will miss you...
(Speach to be said with sad trumpet playing in back ground)
I only hope the EB 2 engine makes the AI smarter in this respect... I mean such drastic outcomes makes me feel that the game was originally called "Rome: For Dummies," but was changed for economic purposes...
I have a screenie of the Lusotanians offering me a lump sum of money to get a ceasefire which is pretty incredulous but its on my old comp and I havn't got a chance to transfer pics over yet. When I do I will post it.
Well spoken...
I'll take 5 lines of silence..
Well to cheer people up, I will give you a new picture, and the question with this one is:
What did the Carthaginians have in mind when they tried to execute this plan? (Note that this was EB1.0)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Complainer: Yes I posted this earlier, but I don't think everyone here had marvelled at it.
~Fluvius
Break out of the city so they can escape from your stack? -MQuote:

I remember seeing that posted before, don't remember the story behind it though.
Trying the weapon of ''Confusion'' and sallying forth while your army laugh too much to see what's happening?
Oh, isn't it the odd Kyrene bug?
I've seen the ram inside the city before. 0_0 just once.
Nope this is Sala (I think) the one in Mauretania Massaesylli (most east one of the Mauretanaian cities).
But the Kyrene bug was that your siege weapons ended at the faraway cornor of the map in a wood right?
Probably me again, I have posted this a lot earlier but not many people did see it.
~Fluvius
Well obviously the Carthagians have been presented with a wooden ram as a present. And "when night falls, Lancelot and Galahad and I will leap OUT of the rabbit and take the French UTTERLY by surprise!" ;p
So, what was the real answer? :)
Well I don't know either! It's just a bug I think but your answer is certainly a very funny one:laugh4::laugh4:

The Ptolemaoi starship has landed in Meroe... :alien: :ahh:

you gotta shoot it when he takes his shields down...
Oh no, X-wings won't work.... The Death Star is nothing compared to the Yellow Fever:skull:
so we'll have to rely solely on the Force...
May the the force be with you, good hetairos. For we are the bright side of the force.....
And what about Sweboz, allied of the bright side?
Like I said in that demotivator, Germans are Romaioktonoi's secret weapon since they pwned the Western Roman Empire and let the Eastern one be slowly Hellenized.....
Btw, the Ptolemaioi sucked up to the Romaioi and helped Pahlava eat up my Seleukids (The true heirs of Alexandros!), so after I destroy the Rumoz, they're next!
Haaa, good luck great general, may your command stars shine in bad omen over the yellow fever sky...
