This thread is for the posting of save files, and at the start of every turn the GM will post a report indicating major news in the realm as well as detailing the changes in the player's finances.

There is currently no civil strife within the reich. During peacetime, each turn lasts 48 hours. During this time, any player can take the save in any order. If the save is currently taken, other players who want to take it must wait until it is returned or six hours have passed since it was taken.
Some questions. 1) I don't have the correct names. My character, for example, is called Phillipp von Kastilien, while some others lack names totally or have the wrong ones also. Is it supposed to be like that?
2) My starting army upkeep (incl. bodyguard) is higher than my starting treasury. I was under the impression we were supposed to be able to afford our army for ten turns? Also, this effectively hinders me from doing anything else but "keeping-up" the army. Once again, is this intended?
Sorry if my questions are stupid, but I'm not all clear on how things are supposed to work, despite reading through the rules.
Here is the summary of news items at the start of the turn.
A Milanese agent was caught trying to infiltrate Marseille. He was caught and executed.
Our kingdom now boasts the mightiest armed force in the world! Were all our troops assembled at one point no other faction could hope to field an army to defeat them! Other rulers should now think twice before seeking to anger us.
Our kingdom has truly grown to become an empire for we now rule the largest area of the civilized world of any major power. The boundaries of our kingdom may be impressive, but take heed that as they become larger they become more costly to defend properly.
Our great nation appears weak to tolerate such insolence from the rebels in Pommerania! The Council of nobles recommends that Pommerania be incorporated into the Reich, and is willing to reward the noble who seizes Stettin with soldiers if he accomplishes it within fifteen turns.
His Holiness the Pope demands that we stop shedding the blood of our fellow Christians. Cease hostilities against Denmark immediately and do not carry out any hostile acts against them for four turns.
A noble named Sigismund von Wolfsburg has offered himself up for adoption by the Kaiser.
Ortwinus Rapse has decided that he does not want to fight. As per Rule 7.3, his army can retreat without harm just as the player or AI faction can whenever it retreats. When EF takes the save he must move his army away from Prince Henry's in a direction and for a duration of his choosing. It's now Ignoramus's turn to take the save.
Andreas continued his march and entered the north of Saxony.

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Is it ok if Zim takes my turn for me? I have already pm'd him my instructions. I moved house and stupid Telstra can't come install my internets until 2nd october - I'll be able to use my work PC (as I am now) to take saves and put them back in the week, but tonight the wife and I are out for dinner plus I haven't yet assembled my home office since the move.
Too much information? :clown:

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Sorry for the delay but I had no access to my M2TW computer these last few days...
After finally being able to check the save Cecil provided, I will choose to withdraw from that attack (3:10-odds fights are unwinnable with only a BG and spear unit)... 186 men against 1777 !!!
You're surely mad at me, Cecil... (Oops ! I meant Knud )

Report for 1081
Here is the summary of news items at the start of the turn.
Empress Consort Bertada has given birth to a daughter! She has been given the name Fridewiga.
Finally, here is the save. The third turn has begun, with Zim starting again.
If there are any questions, or suggestions on how to improve this report, please feel free to discuss it with me.

Well, this is easy, don't even need to mess with the save.
No building, recruitment or anything.
Attacking Raspe again since he neglected to retreat. Pming the next player.

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Once again, the Duke of Tyrol finds himself under attack. However, his indecision in not retreating has sown confusion in his ranks. One of his units of spear militia has dispersed into the countryside, deserting his army. If this repeats itself, the rest of his army may follow his example!
Right then, PMing Zim and EF.

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Adding to the confusion caused by his failure to retreat, the Duke of Tyrol gave no orders when Prince Henry's army appeared a second time. There was some milling about at first, but when the enemy army appeared over the horizon Duke Ortwinus's army had had enough, and they dispersed into the countryside. This left the Duke at the mercy of his enemy, and he was promptly captured by the Prince.
The battle has been concluded, and the necessary changes have been made to this save file. Turn order has resumed normally, although now that EF's character is captured he can't take his turn.
Andreas Hümmel has marched into Saxony and laid siege to Hamburg in the name of the Kaiser! He has ordered the construction of one ram and two sets of ladders.
His herald addressed the garrison of the city as follows:
"Brave men of Saxony, your valour is well-renowned and your courage beyond dispute. Know this that none will think the less of you for laying down your arms and surrendering to me. I come in the name of Heinrich Salian, rightful Kaiser of the Romans, and Duke of Franconia. He has your best interests in heart, and I assure you that should you come over to him you shall be treated well.
I know your sense of loyalty to your duke. Indeed, Duke Magnus is known by the name of "Saxon". But I urge you that your loyalty has been sadly mistreated. Indeed, He led you against the Prince of the Danes, and slew him on the field of battle. Brave indeed, was he, to march boldly into battle. Yet his actions have now brought naught but destruction and devastation upon your lands and families. Even now, your duke cowers from the vengeful Danish king, who is intent on avenging the death of his son. Do not think that he will be able to save your wives and children from the merciless raiders of the north. Come over to me, and you will have the Imperial Army itself deliver you from this menace. And the Kaiser alone has the means to organise a lasting peace with the Danish court.
I urge you, noble sons of Saxony, do not let your lord led you and your families to destruction!"

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
If I take the save now I won't be able to have it back for 48 hours - is that acceptable?
If not, could I please ask Zim to take my turn for me again? I'm still struggling with no internet at home and frequent business trips taking me out of the office...should calm down for a bit after this week.
EDIT: I'm leaving the office now so I have taken the save with me on my USB stick. I'll have it back in just under 48 hours unless Cecil says he can't wait in which case Zim can play it instead.

I needn't take the save, so I'm passing it on to Tristan. I'll send him a PM in a second.

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Here is Tristan's save. I'm posting myself because he wanted to ask me some questions first, and agreed to allow me to do so if it was faster. I'm repeating the answers I gave here incase they are helpful.
1. You cannot recuit soldiers are hire mercenaries when your personal treasury is in the red. This is to mimic that fact that in a single-player campaign you cannot do so when the factions treasury is in the red.
2. When your soldiers are under siege in a PvP war without you, you can have them fight to the death, just as in an SP campaign. This is resolved by having the opposing player attack the settlement in a custom battle against the AI.
3. You can disband your soldiers when they're stuck in a settlement undersiege, just like in an SP Campaign.
I'm glad he asked these questions, as they allow me a illustrate my primary design principal for PvP wars: They function exactly like wars against the AI whereever possible.
Not-quite-incidentally, Duke Magnus has ordered his soldiers in Hamburg to disband and return to thier homes! Without any soldiers in the castle, Duke Hummel's men have automatically entered the settlement! Ignoramus must inform me whether he wishes to occupy, sack or exterminate Hamburg before the end of the turn.

Save for Elite Ferret! Or since he's captured, perhaps there is nothing for him to do with the save?
The siege of Bern continues, reinforced.
Btw, what happened with 1082? Was the save-naming incorrect somewhere, cause we have jumped from 1081 to 1083 haven't we?

Everything is in order. LTC has 1.5 years per turn, so we went from 1080 to 1081.5(1081) to 1083.

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Here is the save. This was done for GH, using orders from him that required no judgement on my part.
King Knud has issued a challenge to Magnus von Saxony! His army landed to the north of Stettin, drove off von Saxony's regiment of militia, then the King sent his army away by boat and continued onward with just his bodyguard towards towards the castle.
"You know why I am here von Saxony, do you not? I have come to find vengeance for my son! I challenge you to a duel to the death! You will not refuse me, unless you wish to see your siege brought to an end when my Danes scatter your Saxons to the four winds!"

The 48-hour deadline has expired, thus the battle has been autoresolved.
I don't need to change anything. The siege of Bern continues, and perhaps some siege towers can be constructed? We await the arrival of the Prince, so may I request that Zim is subbed and not skipped next turn around?

One suggestion - would it be possible to re-order the spreadsheet the same as the turn order? Might be helpful so we don't have to look at the first post of this thread to remember it..

Re: V&V Saves and Turn-by-Turn Reports
Sometime after the end of the emergency diet session, a rash of disasters has struck the reich's nobility!
Magnus von Saxony and his retinue, after taking Thorn, were attacked in the night by residents of the castle town who balked at the prospect of having in enemy in both Kaiser Heinrich and the Kingdom of Poland. Using trickery and numbers, as well as taking advantage the retinue's weariness after fighting while so outnumbered, they slaughtered the retinue while most of them were sleeping. The body of Magnus von Saxony is now interred awaiting judgement, as the denizens of Thorn have invited Kaiser Heinrich into their castle rather than risk his rather by siding with the Poles.
In the south, the long siege of Bern has reached a startling conclusion. The army of Otto von Kassel, having been waiting so long for reinforcements from the Prinz in order to begin the assault, had become lax and weary. The besieged Swiss, never ones to miss such an opportunity seized the initiative by launching a sudden sally in the dead of night. Those few Bavarians that survived have dispersed into the countryside rather than risk being held accountable for their failure.
But the greatest shock was with Prinz Henry. Having captured Ortwinus Raspe, he suddenly seemed to catch his enemies lethargy. It soon became apparent that something was very wrong, and by the time Ortwinus and his retinue died of this plague it was too late. Those in the Prinz's army who tried to flee merely exhausted the life out of themselves quickly, and not long afterwards the rest of the army, and the Prinz, perished as well. Tragically, with so few in this age able to even conceive of a scientific explanation to such a malus, we will likely never know the identity of this plague.
Although the loss of such a large number and soldiers and nobles have left the Reich terribly exposed to the French, the massive debt that most of those nobles had accumulated has died with them. If new men can be found to step into the void, a recovery may go quicker than one might fear. But until then, and with no where else to turn, the people of those displaced lands have placed themselves under the protection of the Imperial Dominion. It will take until the next season for a new administration to be in place though, and until then these lands will neither give or receive money from the Emperor's coffers.
I think barca and password are still around and probably didn't realise they missed the vote..
Anyway, taking the save.
