The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Yes folks its that time of the year when Brennus posts another of his rather pointless yet fun threads.
I was going to wait until we were a month away from Christmas but as of tomorrow I will be travelling in the land of the Brigantes and Caledonians with a belly full of beer visiting tribal members and client rulers. Thus I will not be able to post this thread on the 25th, plus this thread will need time for voting (5 days worth of voting should be sufficient shouldn't it?).
If you would like to take part please post your best pic below (only one shot per contestant).
I have decided to make the following rules:
1. No editing pictures, as usual an acceptable degree of cropping is allowed.
2. As its nearly Christmas try and add some festivity to your screens.... all I can think is if your providing a European screenshot let it be winter. If you have any better suggestions please let me know.
3. Unlike earlier screenshot competitions elephants are allowed, night battles are not.
:santa2: Have fun! :santa2:

I resent this, it's summer here for Christmas time! Luckily you wrote European...and the game is based on Europe...hence Europa. Touché Brennus.

LOL. Wait, your Santa doesn't drive around in a ute or wear thongs, footy shorts and a wife beater*?
*translation: flip flops, short shorts and a singlet.

I could never post one of my own. It would ruin my myth.

Last time a screenshot poll was posted I remember there was a flood of entries, this is just plain embarrassing.

I had elephants in the snow, but I guess that's a no.

Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Actually, by the rules in post 1, it is allowed.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Allowed, yes. But incredibly unkind on pachyderms used to subtropical heat. What kind of monster would use African animals as alpine mountaineering equipment?

Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Apparently the Belgae and Britons also used elephants against the Romani, however Roman propogandists refused to record the countless victories achieved by these northern "barbarians", lol.
Come on everyone, I couldn't give a flying fart if your shots are festive themed, lets just see your best efforts!

I don't play without banners or with minimal UI so I'm always hesitant to post images in screenshot competitions but it looks like someone needs to kick this off. I call this "Death of a Roman"

He is using his fancy modded units of his Makedonian Empire to win the contest!~D
They are some kind of combination of Romani legionaires and the Makedonian Thureophoroi.
See this.

I know I can only submit one, but I have three really good ones. Hmm. The first is a battle scene with flaming arrows, the second is a guy falling off a wall, the third is two heroic soldiers, last of their unit, who survived an entire city assault fighting in the front line. Which should I submit?
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
I would go for the battle. It depends though, what type of troops are in your shots?
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Here's mine. It's called: Suren-Pahlav on the road.

Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
I still can't decide which to submit.
Screenshot 1: Let Greece Burn!
Screenshot 2: Well . . . This Sucks.
Screenshot 3: Gods of War.

Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!

I agree.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Ok, I'l upload a version of the first one without the white arrow later. In the meantime people are welcome to use the other two for demotivators.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Thanks Tanit!
If anyone is still interested in taking part you have until Christmas eve to post your lovely shots.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
4 Days left everyone if you still want to take part.
My thanks to everyone who has posted so far, i understand this is a busy month for those of you in education or with large families so thank you.

Right folks the time for entries has passed its time for voting. As soon as I can figure out how to put all these pictures into a poll voting will commence for a week.... any tips?
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Hmm... I think that only moderators can add polls to already posted topics ( i.e. we mere mortals can only add polls when posting a thread ), but I'm not sure.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Just make a new thread with a poll like always is done, and make what everybody voted public.
~Fluvius
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Just trying to set the poll up now but rather confused as to how to do it (not technologically gifted personally). Does anyone have a step by step guide of how its done?
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Although I admire your screenshots, it wouldn't be fair to the other entries if these were allowed in after the due date. Perhaps Brennus can give you an honourable mention when the poll is created?

I thought these were monthly competitions. That would mean 25 Dec to 24 Jan, correct? I don't remember reading a specific timeline, though, I must admit...
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
I would extend it, there aren't that many EB players around the forum these days and we really need atleast 3 or 4 pages of pics to make a judgement.

I agree, though Chernish would need to chose which one of his 3 screenshots he would like to enter in the competition.
-
Re: The Europa Barbarorum Christmas Screenshot Competition!
Also, what mod do you use Chernish with those trees and grass? Looks beautiful.

Just to point it out, Brennus implied in the OP that the poll was supposed to have been opened on the 25th, and then the deadline is by necessity before that. With my Scooby-Doo detective kit, I also find that Brennus explicitly said on the 20th Dec that the deadline would be reached four days from then, and on the 29th he declared that the deadline had been reached. Since the thread was started the 18th September, the 'month' part is more than overshot, and the deadline extended already.
Still, I don't mind accepting Chernish's entry if he can pick the one he wants to go with before Brennus actually gets around to making the poll. We've got 8 pictures already, so there's no need to extend it any further. It's better just to get this finished and open the new one for January, and hope it'll get more entries.
