- Players shall post a link to the save game in the main game thread and also send a private message to the next player in line to alert them that it is their turn. The save game file should follow the naming convention FN-faction-turn number (eg. FN-Mongols-1)
- Players have 48 hours to play each turn, with extensions granted at request. The GM will skip a players' turn if the deadline is missed with no communication and a sub allied to the player cannot be found.
- All battles between human-controlled factions are to be auto-resolved
- No spies may be used to open the gates of settlements or forts.
- Siege equipment may only be used to open gates as follows: Ballista can open nothing, Catapults and Mangonels can open wooden walls, Trebuchets can open stone walls.
- No crusades or jihads can be called or joined by a human player.
- No destroying buildings for cash under any circumstances.
- No fighting losing defensive battles on purpose in a besieged city, just to deny the invader the sacking option.
- If an army is beaten in battle by a faction that is after them in the turn order that army may not move on the following turn.
- An army which is beaten in battle may not be attacked on the following turn (because it is immobilized either by the game mechanic or by the rule above) by any faction unless it has retreated to a fort or settlement.
- No exploits, including (but not limited to): no merchant forts, no surround-and-destroy, no tribute deals that deliberately put you into debt greater than 10k, no deliberate diplomatic exchange of territories just to get a free garrison, no tribute deals with or monetary gifts to the Pope, no attacking ships in ports, no leaving a blockaded fort without defeating the blockading navy, no deliberate use of diplomatic exploits to increase faction leader's Dread.
If a player is in doubt about whether an in-game action is permissible he shall consult the GM who will make a ruling. Players are requested to compete in a good spirit and use their judgment and sense of fairness at all times.
If a player is suspected of cheating, please make a private report to the GM and avoid making a public accusation or resorting to flaming in the game thread or elsewhere.
The first save game file is here and the Mongols are up.
Since player vs. player battles are to be auto-resolved, are we going to do like over at the net and provide screenshots? If we are I think all we should need is the battle results window with enough background to prove your still on the campaign map (like show the two armies involved); cause if you fought the battle out you'd still be in the battle when the end results appeared.

I'm happy to forego this but if a majority of people want screenshots I can add it to the rules.

I'm fine with that, just thought if we were going to do it, might as well do it in a way that makes since.

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
I'm fine without em, but I think if a person wants screenshots they should just say it now and that way we can know to take them against that faction. I think we all trust each-other but sometimes things happen that just don't seem to make sense and its nice to have a screenshot to erase doubt.

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
I'm fine doing it either way though I do find posting and editing those SS a bit tedious... When I don't forget to start FRAPS !!
Also screenshots are pointless, I can Photshop a victory into a defeat and vice-versa in 2 minutes, chane numbers, command stars, whatever. I trust we are all playing for fun and plus since we can't lead our armies there is not much to doubt.

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
I think we just do what nightbringer suggested, if someone really wants it, let us know now and we can provide it; otherwise don't worry about it :)
Zim what was that message from you about? It's not my turn yet ^^

I'll just use the excuse of having just got off the graveyard shift for sending a pm to the wrong person. :clown:

Any progress here? I remember Visorslash saying he did not want to play Denmark in this game. Perhaps he has lost all motivation? As such it would be good to give the Danes to another player whilst we are still on turn 2 and can restart easily?
BTW Denmark starts with great potential in this campaign.
Oh, and Zim - Norway here as well? Must be a fan :)
hey all, if you defeat an army or navy could you please post the name here to help other players observe the rules about defeated armies being unable to move and immune from attack?

Okay. Grand Duke Alexander, and his catapult friend are beaten. I think that's it.

Just wanted to give a smaller faction a try in both games.

Um, guys, I think I'm guilty of the same error I just nabbed Myth for in the Britannia Hotseat. I moved Grand Duke Alexander, when he was defeated by the Danes last turn. Do I have permission to redo the save and rectify this error?

Go ahead. Is this rule just unworkable without screenshots? It seems to be causing a lot of trouble. Happy to drop it if everyone prefers.

I think we should keep it, otherwise it does disadvantage later factions.

Depends. If you moved him to a position where I can attack him, then yes, by all means move him. :P
I suppose replaying, but it doesn't matter much in this life or death fight. :P

I gave Igno a nudge - if we don't see the turn by the time I'm up tomorrow morning I'll skip it to keep the game moving.

Ok, because of the delay let's just play from the posted save and Duke Alexander can't move next turn instead. Ok?

What's happening now? It seems as if both hotseats I am in have now come to a halt :(
I'm going on holiday tomorrow (16th april) and wil be away for a week, returning on the next saturday (23rd april). If my turn does not come up before I leave, would it be ok for me to have an extension until I get back? I do have a person who can sub if the answer is no, but it would be helpful if I could play this particular coming turn. Thanks :)

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
I'll let Phonics give a definitive answer to that...
Nevertheless, the turn being almost over, you should be up quite soon so waiting a whole week to advance the game would be annoying... Your best course of action would be to leave very detailed instructions to Phonics or whoever would sub you so that the game could move forward without too much loss on your side...

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
If the answer is no, I give full permission for Myth to sub me for my coming turn. I have given him the required instructions in the event that he will need to be subbing.

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
That's great, I'd rather you appoint a sub than we wait a week. I'll be doing the same thing in a couple weeks when I go on vacation. Myth can sub for you.

Re: Kingdoms Teutonic Hotseat: The Frozen North
I've just gotten the messages (maybe some lag with the pm system?) Anyway I'd be happy to sub for whomever needs subbing. I've gotten detailed instruction from the mighty Kaiser of the HRE. If Denmark wants they can send me a scroll with instructions as well.
Anyway, King Boleslaw of Poland has been caught unaware and has fought bravely but our own Hochmeister has attacked during the night and with a superior force. The Polish monarch has retreated North of Plock. He can't move next turn. Plock is now under siege.
