Happenings in Beefdom- [Concluded]
Beefdom. Aside from the fact that the land is full of Beef lovers, its no different from any other land.
Treachery and power struggle leading to war between influential figures. Human dramas created from love and bravery.
Now, in the latest chapter we saw Beskar and Subotan uniting the land under the order of the Beskotan Dynasty.
Its been years since that. Here is what happened.
Mad adventurer called Jack Swallow decided to sail out to prove that the world is round.
He didn't quite achieve that but he did find out that Beefdom was not alone in this cruel world.
There was those who chose to flee from Beefdom, and found their peace elsewhere.
There was others on a foreign land. Too busy fighting each other instead of sailing out to the world beyond.
Anyhow, they were suddenly aware of each other. Rather small Beefdom quickly built up a group of diplomats and spies, trying to form a friendly relationship with various super powers.
Fortunately all of them had meat loving in common. Some loved meat to the point of worshiping them.
When they realized this, they no longer had a reason to fight. The meat they like may differ a little, but they now respected each other.
Under Beskar and Subotans leadership, they quickly came together and formed an council, used to solve issues and uniting against threat from the unknown world.
100 years of peace have passed. Members of the council changed a little. And now we have a new situation.
Vegetarianism is the latest trend in the city. Older generations and those who stick to tradition simply ignored the heresy, knowing that their long culture of meat consuming can't be undone by a trend with only few years of history. But day by day, they feel more insecure, watching their sons and daughters turn to vegetarians and number joining the protest march increasing.
Some council members are proposing a more brutal approach. With that the peace is slowly crumbling in the known world...
As a council member, its your job to become the hero to restore the old ways... Or perhaps to turn the world upside down and do whats necessary for this revolution.

Game set up
- There will be two mafia. Perhaps more depending on the numbers of players
- There will be no lynches. Day phase will be used to discuss tactics and who should be slayed.
Night action
- In order to get rid of players (lynch or kill), you must use your night actions. These are the possible actions. You may do many action as you wish as long as there are soldiers available to do that.
- Attack city X using Y soldiers
- Attack city X with player Y with Z soldiers. (x2 bonus if attack is coordinated.)
- Defend city X using Y with Z soldiers (x2 bonus). Will deny uncoordinated defense offers
- Defend city X using with player Y with Z soldiers (x3 bonus)
-In addition to those four actions, mafia gets to 1 of the following action every night.
- Protest march (Role block ability. Blocks one random order of the targeted player)
- Promote rebellion (Decreases number of targeted players soldiers. How many soldiers they will lose will be decided on random)
- Assassinate (Attempt assassination of targeted players commander. Commander who leads the greatest number of soldiers will be targeted. If successful, those soldiers will disappear)
Cities
-Each player starts with 4 cities. Each city generates 25 percent of your total soldier numbers.
-Say if you have 10000 soldiers. Each city will generate 2500 new soldiers, and you'll have 20000 soldiers next turn
-If you have no cities left, that means you have lost the game.
-I'll use civilization 4 to make the city and maps so it will look cool.
Battle
- If Beefy has 500 soldiers and pevergreen has 550. Beefy will lose the battle and pevergreen will win with 50 soldiers left.
- However in general, defending side gets the advantage.
- If more then one players attacks the same city, player who spent the most amount of soldier will get the city.
Gifts
- You may give soldiers and cities to other player. Do that during night phases.
Players
I'm looking for many players as possible. Upon signing up, please write your country/group name, leader name and your four cities. Flags and background detail would be great as it will add depth to the write up. Or you can simply sign up by saying "in" or something. In that case I will create all the details for you but don't expect anything good :sweatdrop:
Hope i'll see you in the game

I'm already IN, but here's my further role information:
"Sheikh Al-A-This II of the Great Sauces". Although the original Great Sheikh was deposed, his immediate successor, Sheikh II, has returned in a saucy glory, bearing the red-hot magicks of the Venerable Chilli to uphold the goodness of the sweet, sweet dips of Beefdom. With Tabasco as its historic capitol, the Great Sauce Dynasty has branched out to control the Lands of the Four Sauces, each providing the Sheikh with a new, fiery power which is used to glorify his people and the meats of Beefdom. After all, what is meat without sauce?

Character: Andar the Chaotic One, Lord of the Incredibly Long Epithet (truncated for easy reading)
Little is known about the distant Empire of Andar. Like most other nations, they have a strong affinity for eating meat. However, little know just what kind of meat they indulge in. Those who have visited have claimed it was just their foreign cows which produced a different-flavored beefsteak. Others claim the Andarrians hunt the fabled Chupacabra, and feast on its succulent tissue. But there are those who returned from the Empire as deranged loons. And these people claim that the Andarrians are cannibals- ingesters of human flesh- especially that of the traitor vegetarians in their lands.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
I would join to fill out the ranks, but I fear this one is pretty involved. I don't want to be a disappointment should I get an important role, and I'd rather not be dead weight as a townie teammate either.
No lynches? Is it really a mafia game, if so?

There is no lynches but there is 2 mafias.
The only way to get rid of them is to work together and attack them till their cities is gone.

Jon Snow of Winterveil, Lord Protector of the Northern Tundra, the House of Snow, a bastard branch of the Beskotan dynasty which traveled to the northern tundra. It is said they discovered the greatest threat in existence, and built a wall of solid granite reinforcing an ancient barrier of ice which is 700 feet tall and spanning 300 miles along the Northern border. The wall is manned by a force known as the 'Nightwatch' where each and every member has sworn a duty to uphold the wall or face the penalty of death. Winterveil has a special relationship with the Kingdom's in the south where they take in all able bodied convicts and criminals sentenced to death to man the great wall of Winterveil. Not many survive past their first great winter, as they face little choice in their survival with the alternative being certain death. This gives the lands of Winterveil a formidable army which it can use against any aggressors, however, due to the 'danger' lurking North of the Wall, it is spread thin along it, manning the territory from a threat that could consume the lands of meat and plenty to the south. The symbol of Winterveil is the Direwolf, a large carnivorous wolf which roams the tundra.
The people of Winterveil do not embrace the vegetarian ways due to the complete lack of fertile soil in the tundra, except for forests filled with wild animals, especially deer which are hunted for their meat and fur, as such, the followers of vegetarianism face a very grim and stark reality in the north where hunger and the cold usually kills them long before they are discovered to have converted to the new religion.

Oh, I would love to try a game like this!
In please!
Floofy von Blargensteinberg - Ruler of the Fluffy Troll Empire
The FTE is known primarily for two things; their love of eating meat from fluffy animals......
and how very annoying the empire's citizens are.
The citizens have been known to communicate through a language called "memes"; should anyone else try to understand their language,
they just get a massive headache.
The FTE citizens are also notorious for creating chaos among alliances.
As an FTE general said after he destroyed an alliance meant for world peace: "I did it for teh lulz."
Their flag flies proudly over each of their cities:

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Thought I would build on Beskar's one a little bit, I hope he dosent mind.
Lord James Greyford - Ruler of the Iron Peak.
"Gold or Iron, it all shines."
A mine in the middle of a frozen wasteland is not exactly the stuff empires are made from, nor is a family of merchants, poor in coin and poor in prospects, the sort to become powerful. Yet 70 years ago a man named Jonathan Greyford, desperate for escape from the fate of destitution and squalor in the slums of beefdom's numerous cities, made one last roll of the dice and sank the rest of his family’s dwindling coffer into one last venture that would either save or end the Greyford name.
With all the money he could muster John hired enough supplies and workers to start a small mine. In fear of competition ruining what little chances John had, he set off to the furthest mountain he knew of, God's Table, a plateau in the Northern ranges. The Northern Ranges were a veritable death-trap, the centre being utterly impassable to anything but the most able climber and any resources contained underneath them considered not worth the risk by beefdoms several mining companies due to it being situated in the middle of wildling infested tundra. With little choice and Winter not long away he ventured past the wall and into the wilderness hoping to get to his destination before the cold became too much to live through.
No-one knows what happened on their trek as the family guards any details but three years later the group returned to the wall with a long caravan of wagons, brimming with gold, gems and iron ore, enough to buy a small kingdom and armour an army. The men of the Nightwatch still tell tales of a roughened man at the head of the group, bearing grey hair and a golden smile.
It’s been 70 years since and the Greyfords have come to travel to the northern mountains and back every summer and with their findings the family has prospered, buying lands, companies and even titles all to maintain their status during the winter years, now standing among the high lords.
To this day they still receive grief for their lowborn beginnings from the other lords kings and emperors but they have found that money speaks louder than privilege. Due to their wealth the Greyford family have no standing armies, all thier wars are fought with mercenaries from the companies owned by the family or smaller lordlings looking to curry favour.

The Skoomatic Kingdoms
Description:
The Skoomatic Kingdoms. The land of blood and smoke. Tales of how this realm came to be vary from source to source. Some say that in the winters of 3E 453, a fierce host from Akavir emerged from the misty shoreline of the Veiled Coast. Their eyes were thin and empty inside. Their lower half, covered in beautiful scales and their upper half covered in beautiful long hair. They wielded curved blades and when they spoke they revealed their curved teeth. A troop of goblins accompanied this army and appeared to be their slaves delegated to both servile duties and fighting alike. Their golden armor still shone, even through the fog and mist of the coastline. There appeared to be a Warlord among them. He rested among a demonic steed with bright red eyes and it's mouth frothed a reddish pink foam. It's coat was darker then the blackest night and it's whinnying reverberated through the rocky coast. His name was Korigath, Conqueror of the North. They say he was able to defeat the Ka Po' tun dragon armies when they invaded Tsaesci lands. He was the largest among them and their fear of him was the fuel for their campaign.
For days they marched almost ceaselessly. An easy task when the troll folk are carrying your supplies and armor for you. At last they reached their destination, The Field of Fallen Moons. An open plain where they hoped to meet the meager armies of Hama'ar people. Farmers turned spearmen, shop owners turned archers, boys...turned swordsmen was what greeted the snake men. The initial battle went as expected. Slaughter. The goblins were cut down as they were supposed to be, but they wore the men out enough for the Tsaesci when it was time for them to join the fray. The snake men were fierce and merciless. Some were even bold enough to begin feeding on their fallen victims in mid-battle. Fueled by anger, and hunger they drove the armies of the men back into the treeline. This would be their undoing, for there was a clan of warriors waiting in the forest, waiting for the mock-retreat to draw the snake men to them. For you see, in the forest, the Skoom'ari cannot be defeated. Not these forests, which have been offered to the goddess Assa'ni, more commonly known as the Daedric Prince Azura. The Tsaesci stormed into the woods fueled by their natural desire to chase their prey, and they charged headlong into a rising wall of steaks spanning the entire treeline. A third of them died instantly. The other two-thirds severely weakened by the unsual light coming from the sun that morning for you see, The Dawn has Risen. The Dawn of the Daedric Prince Azura has drained the snake men of their natural strength for this land is hers, and she watches over her people. The warriors of Skoom'ar, led by a cloaked ranger, defended against the remaining Tsaesci, battering them into full retreat. The hooded ranger was said to have cleaved the legs clean off of Korigath's demon horse while he and it were feeding mid-battle. The two met blades at the treeline. The unusual sun draining the enraged and humiliated warlord, and fueling the ranger, defeat was eminent. Beaten to his knees, the Warlord began using what little magical abilities he had left to stun the ranger while he and his host made a hasty retreat back to the shoreline for possible regroup and and secondary attack.
They commanded their goblin slaves to attack while they retreated. Some of the mindless beasts obeyed, but most had enough wits to realize fleeing was the best option. To the coast the Skoom'ari chased the vampiric armies Korigath, Conqueror of the North, all the way back to the rocky beaches. When they arrived back to Veiled Coast, they found it was more misty and smokey then when they arrived. They found that all their ships had been burned while anchored, their supplies looted, and the goblin slaves freed, armed, and angry. It had never occurred to Korigath to leave men behind to protect their rear. Retreat was never even in consideration for the fabled warlord, after all, the Hama'ar were simple folk. Simple folk, with powerful allies that is. He never thought a small group of rangers could out flank them, let alone speak to their goblin "guardsmen", talking them into insurrection. The misty coastline and it's blood-soaked waters took months to clear. That day, the Tsaesci continued to flee, even into the water with their former goblin slaves in hot pursuit. Into the waves, scores of goblins and snake men littered the sea. After the monstrous chaos was ended, the hooded warrior-monk, leader of the Skoom'ari rangers and disciple of the Daedric Prince Azura, arrived to find Korigath fighting his own men, feeding furiously to regain his lost strength, even off of his own people at times. This disgusted the ranger greatly and when his anger rose, shortly afterwards so did his bow. Two arrows pierced each of the warlords calves, and another in his gut. On his knees, he was still feeding on a piece of a fallen soldier, angered that he was so helpless. The ranger sheathed his weapon, and the head of the warlord Korigath was piked and left for the crows.
A thousand pipes were lit that day in honor of the brave warriors that helped the Hama'ar. The Hama'ar, as agreed, chose to be governed by the rangers who became a type of ruling class. They began incorporating the knowledge of Azura in the people and chose her champion, the Nameless Ranger as King. The goblins who fought along side the rangers and Hamaar were given a stipend of land for their efforts and allowed to live peacefully on condition they aid in the campaigns of the newly formed nation. And aid they did. Expansion northward continued for several years until King Skoom'ar the Nameless was no longer king, but Emperor of the Skoomatic Kingdoms. Azura's name shall be spread to the north, for The Dawn Has Risen.
Leader: Skoom'ar the Nameless - A ranger from the Hama'ar lands that struck a deal with it's inhabitants. Protection and survival in exchange for incorporation of the ideals of the Skoom'ari which is the worship and veneration of the Daedric Prince Azura. He wields both a bow and sword, of which many say were given to him by Hircine, Daedric Prince of the Hunt. For this reason he is also known as the great hunter. Some even believe he is Hircine himself, disguised as a human so he may court Azura in secrecy. Whatever the case may be, he has no name which is unusual because his people chooses their name once becoming full fledged warriors. He chose nothing, and as a result has been simply known as The Nameless. He is almost always seen with a leather flask dangling from his waist or even from his neck. It is rumored that Azura herself brewed the skooma he drinks from it. He fights for her and will spread the will of Assa'ni through the lands. He will continue fighting his campaign until the day he is killed for it is prophesied that Azura will call him to be killed so she may snatch his soul to be at her side. He eagerly awaits that day and continues expanding the Skoom'ari lands until his task is complete.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Night 0 Summery
The discussion got even more heated.
Everyone was pointing fingers at each other.
There was absolutely no sign of dignity.
They went at each others like wild beasts.
When one of the lord grabbed another, an Broccoli fell from his Robes.
Everyone froze on the spot.
http://pested.ifas.ufl.edu/newslette...brocolli-l.gif
"Broccoli" someone mattered.
Lord who had Broccoli attempted to defend him self.
"What? Being a meat eater doesn't mean you can't eat vegetables! I like eating vegetables from time to time!"
Good point no doubt.
But this hysteric crowd was in no state of making logical decisions.
Though, this time things went there way. Perhaps the meat gods havn't left the realms just yet.
"Broccoli Broccoli" everyone chanted. As they slowly approached the "traitor", drawing their swords.
"Morons! Die! All of you!" he said. As he charged with his sword.
He was a brave man. And a good fighter. But other Lords were just as good as he was.
Soon he found him self on the ground, drowning in his own blood.
"There goes Lord Broccoli" someone laughed.
Shame. That Lord Broccoli was the most powerful man in the realm. Who held the bunch of power horses with his iron fist.
Then they looked at each other, all with their swords drawn out. Quite prepared to have another poor fellow dead.
"There ought to be another" someone said. "Next time we'll do it the honourable way. We come here to talk. Nothing more. We talk and we'll not force a decision on one another. We're all powerful lords. And we all have the right to prove our selves in the battlefield. If the Gods of the meat is still present in the god forsaken land, I trust that they will make the right decision in the battle field"
They were Lords. Few of them were actually demi gods. But none had the influence to straight out deny any idea which involved gods.
So they all sheathed their swords and started talking. Who could be the other vegetarian.
While this was about finding the vegetarian, it was also becoming a game of thrones to fill the spot which went vacant with the death of "Lord Broccoli"
First blood was drawn. There is no going back. You must win, or die trying.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
So this is the tactics phase, right?
Pros of randomly attacking Subotan: if I'm lucky, he'll be scum
Cons of randomly attacking Subotan: if I'm not lucky, he won't be. And I'll be leaving my Great Sauces open to be dipped by the vegetarians.

Reminder of how to do your night orders
Currently all of you has 10000 soldiers.
You place them in the city you would like to defend or attack.
In addition, mafia will get ONE of these following action
- Protest march (Role block ability. Blocks one random order of the targeted player)
- Promote rebellion (Decreases number of targeted players soldiers. How many soldiers they will lose will be decided on random)
- Assassinate (Attempt assassination of targeted players commander. Commander who leads the greatest number of soldiers will be targeted. If successful, those soldiers will disappear)
So yes please plan your action carefully. Other then that, I guess you can have some fun role playing.

What happens in the event of inactivity?
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Their cities will be undefended and stormed without much bloodshed.
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
The main issue is that attacking will kill your armies, which will kill your recruitment.
Also, defending and losing your armies cause the same situation.
Very dangerous.
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Everyone could just not attack.

Beskar has it right. Your troops will go on a holiday and your cities will be undefended.

True. But being a mean host, I will be making the mafia stronger and stronger so eventually mafia will overpower everyone.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Question: is there any way for us to determine if a faction is vegetarian?

Therefore mafia should attack each other every night so everyone can be happy and play Beefy's game for all time.

You could try asking them nicely.
So, I didn't play the last game, what should we be doing now? Everybody attacking Beskar sounds like a good strategy to me.

Due to shortage of players, there is now only one mafia

Being a good Direwolf and attacking Veggies that come into our territory. We have greater concerns than mindless plantlovers, especially in the frozen north where crops don't grow.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
You realy gotta at least watch the series man.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game

Can we only attack/defend one city at a time?

You can do multiple actions as long as there are soldiers available to do that action
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Imma having a barbecue right now.
And I'm planning on using the Veggie eaters as fuel for my fire!

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Just to clarify, how long are phases and we don't have to send in orders during the day phase correct?
[I'm guessing you need time to prepare the Civ 4 Maps etc though ]

I'm planning 24 hours day phase and 48 hours night phase.
I made this day phase extra long so everyone would be ready to go.
About the map. I realised that i'm no good at it. However Mr Beskar have kindly offered to help out.
So please cheer Beskar for his kindness
Day ended. Commencing write up.
EDIT: Also can Warman have a role to play in this game?
I'm thinking of giving him 2000 men with no city, generating 500 men each turn as a minor tribe.
Once he capture a city he will be promoted to a proper country. Does this sound ok for you guys?
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Actually, that roaming tribe sounds like a pretty cool idea.
Of course, he would have difficulty surviving if he does not capture a city.
And how would one attack a tribe with no city?
-
Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Quickly.

Very well. I shall henceforth be Beskar's personal cheerleader and will forever sing of his praises.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Though the map is kind of basic, since it is the first time I sort of done a map except for Parasite Earthbound and that wasn't the best map in the world. Here is pretty much a preview.
If anyone does have some real skills, please feel free to contribute to making an awesomer graphical map.
Some of the names need to be fixed, as some people didn't actually write down a country name, but this is how I envision the world might look like and where various nations could be found.

OK, how much time do I have for orders and all that?

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Actually, Greyblades being a mercenary centric country have offered Warman a portion of his army
So forget about the roaming plan idea.
Write up in the next post.

Re: Happenings in Beefdom- Large Mafia game
Day 1 summery
Heated discussion started, with blooded floor in the corner of their eyes.
Out side of the room, Lord Broccolis men was rushing for the room, raged with the brutal murder of their master.
But with the messenger telling them why he had to be killed, they slowly got their calm back. Some headed back to the motherland while others went out of the castle to look for another job.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___
In the room, lords and nobles were discussing who could be the remaining vegie lover.
Some pointed at Prince Subotan. While some others pointed at Jon Snow.
They could not meat any conclusion so off they went.. Back to their respectable land with new born grudges.
Peace was slowly crumbling in the realm.
Storm is coming. She will strike mercilessly. Pouring red blood rain upon the land.
Start night 1! Orders in within 48 hours
