I cast no shadow on the grave
No one knows my name
I ride the wind of seven seas
Gone before the rain
I am both friend and enemy
An object of disdain
Living it up in the down and out
I run with the foxes and hunt with the hounds
Yeah, I feel it in my bones
Like a rolling stone
An enemy unknown
I lose control
I feel it in my bones
Like a rolling stone
You'll never find me on the high ground
I lose control
I draw disaster from the vein
Like fire in the sky
I am the bandage and the bane
The Fuhrer of the flies
I stand alone where none remain
A creature of the night
I'll cut you in, but there's no way out
I run with the foxes and hunt with the hounds
I am the death that makes your life seem good
I am the pain that brings you close to God
I am the prophet warning of the flood
I am the answer you misunderstood
I am the answer that you misunderstand
I do the evil that an honest man can't
I live in shadows that the enemy casts
I have no future and I have no past

The only thing even more out of place than the shiny black sedan parked atop a hill, a few miles out of a small mining town in the middle of nowhere, were it's two inhabitants, leaning against it's side as they looked towards the unimpressive congregation of wooden buildings all in the shadow of a not-so-mighty church tower.
"So, this is the place?" the woman asked. She was dressed casually but had a pretty impressive gun strapped to her waist and her sunglasses made it impossible to see her eyes. Nodding the guy put down his binoculars and started to roll himself a cigarette on the car's roof.
"This is the place alright. He's holed up in there somewhere."
The woman reched into her jacket and pulled out a photograph, holding it idly between her fingers for a moment, while looking towards the town.
"It's a shame", the guy remarked, following her gaze,
"He could have run into the wilderness somewhere. Now we'll have to kill all these people as well. This is his playing field, his specialty. He'll use the town for cover."
"But we know what he looks like", she waved the photograph at her partner. Another shrug from him:
"And what does it help? You know we can't expose him to the others. We'll have to play this by his rules" he murmured, lighting his cigarette and inhaling deeply. She bit her lips, asking:
"And what are these?"
He looked straight at her, throwing the barely smoked cigarette to the ground and extinguishing it with his foot, pausing for effect.
"The game's not over until everyone's dead."

Some might or might not remember my first game here on the .org where every player had some kind of power role and such. This will be a bit simpler rolewise, the majority of the roles will be plain townies but there'll be a bit more to it. It's a bit of an experimental, unconventional setup. The writeups will contain hints towards the setup but not towards the roles this time.
Rules:
- NO private communication whatsoever unless it happens in Quicktopics set up by me!
- NO quoting or referencing your ROLE PMs, NO roleclaims!
- No screenshots of any kind
- The dead can only communicate about the game inside the game thread and over public knowledge!
- There'll be a Quicktopic set up for the dead which they will receive the link to after dying. If you die and visit this Quicktopic I kindly ask you to refrain from contributing to the game discussion from that point on.
- After death players will either show up guilty or innocent! Sometimes their names will come up too. There are no death millers or other misleading reveals upon death. Who shows up innocent was town and who shows up guilty was not town.
There will be a zero tolerance policy towards extreme lurking. Not registering a vote for two consecutive day phases will make you eligible for the WoG unless I get a PM beforehand, announcing why you'll have to be inactive. Mafia will not be spared the WoG.
Voting Procedure:
You may abstain but "No Lynch" is not an option
vote: user for a vote
unvote for an abstain after voting
unvote, vote: user for a change of votes
Ties will be resolved by a single tiebreaker vote. The first vote after the deadline counts.
All rounds will last for approx. 24 hours and will end at 11:00 PM CET which should translate to 5:00 PM US Eastern if I’m not mistaken. Voting will end at that point and votes after the deadline will not be counted, even if the writeup comes a bit later
I'm willing to talk about the deadline if it's too early for you US guys. Just say something
Thanks to:- Pizza, for taking a look at some of my questions and making som balance and rule suggestions.

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
Hunt for The Fox
The face in the mirror was clearly recognizable as the one the woman had been looking at in a photograph outside of town. Only the stubbles of a beard and a few bruises made it look slightly different and much older. A deep sigh escaped the man's lips as he turned around, looking at the body on the ground: "So, you are the first", he smiled and stepped over the corpse around which a growing pool of blood was forming, "the first of many more". His eyes betrayed his smile though. He had gotten tired of this and this situation here should be the last like it.
His enemies though would be fools to underestimate him because of this. He was The Fox! He knew no regrets, no limits and no surrender. He would play this game and force his rules upon them. Yes, the body would soon be discovered and he had heard about this town's traditional way of dealing with such crimes. His lips were transforming into a smile again as he opened the small shack's door and stepped out into the cool air of the early morning. He was ready.
***
Only a little while later the bells were ringing, calling the community to the town square, if you could call it that. It was just a tiny square, the church on one side and the mining administration's office on the other. Townspeople were gathering around and the air was tense. Some had already heard that a body had been found and were eager to share the news. Others, who had been here for a long time already, knew what this meant and were not as excited.
"Listen up!", finally the mayor, Bill, spoked up and after a few more shouts the crowd's noise began to ebb down. "There was a murder tonight and those of you who are still fairly new have surely already been briefed by the others as to how we deal with such things." He looked around, some faces staring back at him in confusion. "Well I guess, I can explain it again." Now he started walking back and forth in the small circle that had formed in the middle of the crowd.
"There's too much turnaround to know everyone here for sure. We have no police or any such organisation. We don't need any. If there is a crime, we, the people, find the culprit and deal with him. We are judge and jury, alright?" A few of men nodded in agreement, some older people looked down into the mud, almost ashamed as if they remembered past guilt. "We will bring forth names that we find suspicious and we will vote on them. Everyday the winner", he emphasised this word, "will be put to death, until we have found all those that are guilty of this crime."
"Does everybody understand?" He looked around, most of them nodding, some of them shocked but clearly understanding of his message. "Then get to work, begin to vote!"
It is now DAY 1!
Voting closes tomorrow, Friday, 12 P.M. CET / 6 P.M. US Eastern. Votes after the deadline will not be counted, unless there is a tie. If there's a tie the first vote to break it after the deadline decides. Since this is the first day if too many people don't read their PMs early enough to realize the game has started and to make contributions I might extend the phase but for now the deadline stands.

Can anyone confirm the timer is showing correctly, please? Should end at Mignight CET or 6 PM US Eastern.

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
The timer works fine but your tally has at least one mistake, Nightbringer voted for Montmorency.
Vote: Chaotix in order to save Montmorency.
-
Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
Alright, thanks for pointing that out!
Edited the former tally and with your vote that is:
Montmorency: 3 (Chaotix, rickinator9, Nightbringer)
Chaotix: 3 (El Barto, Montmorency, edse)
The Outsider: 1 (autolycus)
edse: 1 (Ishmael)
Nightbringer: 1 (Count Arach)
Autolycus: 1 (Riedquat)
Count Arach: 1 (Gaius Scribonius Curio)
Riedquat: 1 (Visorslash)
Visorslash: 1 (Jarema)
Abstain: dcmort93
So with about half the (game)day over almost all the players have checked in so there's no need for an extension. Voting will close at the aforementioned time!

Re: Hunt for The Fox [IN PLAY]
Hunt for The Fox
End of DAY 1!
At first people were reluctant to throw around accusations. A few votes were placed but carefully distributed. Nobody, not even the young boys, wanted to be the one to start an irreversible process leading to someone's death. The older men in the town knew this wouldn't be going on for long and they were right. It only took a while before the instinct of self preservation kicked in and most of the voters felt that it was better to have a few more votes between themselves and the "leader" in that fateful race.
One by one the votes piled up and finally there were two candidates locked in a tie that seemed to be a dead end for a while. No one was willing to throw the deciding vote. The two tied for the lead stood in the middle of the crowd in a small round space that had been freed by the others, staring each other right in the eye, ready to fight it out should that be necessary. No one in this town wanted to die.
The sun set slowly and just as it was about to disappear behind the church's roof the tenstion was at it's thickest point. Ready to jump the two soon to be combatants stared at the last bit of light vanishing behind that roof when suddenly they heard a cry: "WAIT!"
Everyone stared at the newcomer who had arrived late - very late - to the town square. He was trying to catch his breath, obviously been running to get there on time. Finally he pointed his finger at one inside the circle. "Him... kill him!" So it was decided...
Montmorency was lynched.
Final tally:
Montmorency: 5 (Chaotix, rickinator9, Nightbringer, The Outsider, Darth Feather)
Chaotix: 4 (El Barto, Montmorency, edse, Visorslash)
The Outsider: 2 (autolycus, CountArach)
edse: 1 (Ishmael)
Autolycus: 1 (Riedquat)
CountArach: 1 (Gaius Scribonius Curio)

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
Hunt for The Fox
Night 1!
"Good night", a smile was on the man's lips as he left the local tavern, turning around one more time to wave to his friends. He hadn't been drinking himself to a coma but enough to forget about the terrible day, at least for the moment and to put him into a jolly mood. It was also enough to make his way home a little less straightforward. Jumbling from side to side in the muddy street he held on to a wall every now and then to keep from falling down.
Suddenly he saw a figure approaching. A toneless 'wow' formed on his lips as he stared into what must have been the most beautiful eyes he'd ever seen. It must have been the alcohol or maybe he had fallen asleep and was dreaming but this woman was stunning. He tried to pull himself up against a building standing up straight, saying: "Oh, good evening beautiful lady, what is an angel like you doing alone out here?"
At least he thought that was what he was saying. In reality it was closer to "Gooeeve biffilay... whaagharrvel...." He slumped to the ground, the alcohol robbing him of his senses. Maybe it was for the better. A disgusted look on her face the lady pulled a gun from inside her mantle and without hesitation aimed it at his forehead before pulling the trigger.
She turned around and started walking away, quickly, when she heard a noise to the side. She looked but saw nothing. Another noise, behind her. Now she started walking more hastily, turning around a few corners quickly. Come on, remember your training. She looked behind, past the last corner she had turned and for the fragment of a second she thought she could see the figure of a man up the alley. Another noise coming from that direction. Yes, someone was definitely behind her, following her.
Quickly she turned the other way and walked fast, almost ran down a few more streets. Looking back a few times she could sometimes see a shadow, sometimes hear steps or something falling over behind her when suddenly she ran into something. Gathering her senses she looked and her stomach turned when she saw the grinning face and the blank gun. She knew it was too late to reach for her own and her failure was the last thing she ever thought about.
***
In the morning two bodies were found in the street. A crowd had gathered around a man when they turned him around and someone called out. "Hey, I know this guy! That's..."
That didn't happen at the scene a few streets away. Nobody knew the woman that was lying in the mud, nobody had ever seen her and when a guy pulled out a driving license nobody recognized the name Alesja Lavricova. She was definitely not from around here...
The bodies were picked up and done away with and shortly after the town was gathering again. The mayor made a short address, basically stating that there were obviously more killers around. "We need to put an end to this. Let's not go for another innocent man from our midst like yesterday!"
It is now DAY 2!
Voting closes tomorrow, Sunday, Midnight CET / 6 P.M. US Eastern. Votes after the deadline will not be counted, unless there is a tie. If there's a tie the first vote to break it after the deadline decides.

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
So it looks like we have 2 groups of killers, or (probably more likely) a mafia and a psycho. I am guessing that the second kill was from the psycho based on the reference to the "grinning face". It seems unlikely that we would have multiple solo killers and as such we can perhaps surmise that Chaotix was in a family. He was almost lynched yesterday and looking at the vote patterns this post is interesting from Darth Feather:

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
Vote: Darth Feather for saving Chaotix. Other good choices for tomorrow and the days after include Count Arach, The Outsider and edse.
-
Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
In all honesty, I don't think Darth Feather would be that blatant in saving his teammate - with only the two of them, he surely would have considered it too risky. I went for rickinator because his vote took some of the pressure off Chaotix, but early enough that it wasn't quite so obvious.
CountArach, the write-ups strongly indicate that there are (well, were) two mafia and one SK ('The Fox').

Yeah I just don't like to take anything for granted until we can verify it over the course of multiple write-ups.
And I would be surprised if Darth Feather was being that blatant too but I find very little to go on at this point. Also no one would really have been questioning him if Chaotix hadn't been killed, or at least he would have been far less suspicious. So this early in the game I guess it is less of a risk to do that sort of voting.

sorry about the double post.
-
Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
While Darth Feather's actions are questionable, I question the wisdom of an overwhelming bandwagon at this early stage...
Similarly, if someone had Chaotix killed, one would presume that there are other threats who would not be so easily tied to him.

I will say Darth, but he has a few votes already.
All who voted to save Chaotix are slightly suspicious
-
Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
Vote: Darth Feather maybe he took the risk considering it unlikely that Chaotix would die so soon.
-
Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
vote:visorslash
Something fishy is going on with him. I certainly smell a degree of scummines... First he voted for someone else but when he realised that chaotix was beyond saving he trew away his ally.... Also he seems to have a good.list.of people to lynch before others might have the chance to consider lynching him. A good strategy to draw away suspicious eyes i beleive.

Re: Hunt for The Fox [SIGN-UPS]
ok, that looks really bad for me. I wouldn't probably be so blatant. I mean, in The Palace I did not save ACIN even though I had the chance. That said, I would probably vote for me if I were in your place.
