Casual 9er Game Thread

Thanks all for signing up. This is the game thread, the game will start on 8pm Friday the 22nd of July.

Rules:

• 48/24 phases, at 8pm american eastern. :00 posts/votes are good, :01 posts/votes bad.
• You may not talk after death.
• Don't quote anything I say to you. Paraphrasing is fine.
• No screenshots, etc.
• You may NOT talk to players outside the thread unless otherwise specified in your role PM.
• You will vote for players you want lynched during the day, using the format, Vote: Visorslash. Votes must be in bold to count. You do not need to unvote to vote someone else. I will count your last legal vote as your vote. You must use that specific vote format with the colon or the vote WILL NOT count. (this is so i can find the votes easier)
• Subs are not allowed.
• You can thank posts who cares, just don't angle it/be angleshooty about it.
• Do not talk at night.
• Votes that end in a tie will be decided by random lynch.
• No lynch is allowed as is abstain.
• Don't edit posts please.
• If you miss a day phase I will message you and see whats up. Missing two days is an instant modkill.
• Have fun. This is not an option . If you don't think you'll have fun with this game... don't join it.

Uhm, hullo, everyone, my name is El Barto and I'm new to this mafia game thing.

The host for this game told me to vote: Rasknolnikov in the signups thread.

It'll show him who's boss because it'll make me look good by voting for somebody who, due to timezone differences, won't be answering. I'll look good and Rodion Romanovich will look bad. It's a sound strategy; btw I don't have access to the mafia quicktopic so I'll assume I'm town.

OK, Visorslash-san asked me to make 10-15 posts a day and this is the fifth so I should stop after this one now that I've filled the quota. Another five on Caturday and another five on Bunday should be enough.

I have a mafia ritual that I need to share. I call it "the terminator". First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "terminator traveling through time" pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the person in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to zone in to proper mafia mode like an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

But on the other hand, Zack hasn't commented on these issues with Barto, and he usually catches him quick, so it could be Barto-Zack.

But I haven't played a mini in 10 years, so I could be wrong.

but i missed that he was apparently roleplaying a newbie and i feel like the weirdness can just be attributed to the roleplay coming off awkwardly, and again that doesn’t feel AI to me

RP aside (barto does random stuff like that all the time so shrug) #16 just didn't make any sense as a response to sunbae afaict, rp or not. am i missing something obvious?

I was wondering if it was a forced interaction with his bro and just ended up coming out weird.

i thought that post was wolfy before knowing he was role playing because yeah, it felt like a really out of place question

but i can see the awkwardness being part of the schtick? idk tbh i don’t really know how to parse it because i don’t know what’s done intentionally as part of the roleplay and what’s an actual post

like, independent of the roleplay i don’t know why a wolf would make that post because the question obviously doesn’t follow and it feels too wolfy for even a wolf just going through the motions to think is a good thing to post so i assume that the badness is part of the roleplay and not AI

idk maybe that’s thinking about it wrong but i’d rather just wait for him to post normally and see

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand why Hally is a wolf. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical RP most of the jokes will go over a typical poster's head. There's also Hally's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into their characterisation- their personal mafia philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The MU elite understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about MAFIA. As a consequence people who are confused by Hally truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Hally's existential catchphrase "NO BULLI" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Hally's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. ?

And yes, by the way, i DO have a buttercup tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the champs finalists' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid ?
