Im sure most kids programs are drug induced crations. Captian Pugwash, Magic roundabout telley Tubbies, all rather odd (not sure how many of those will have been broadcast on your side of the pond,)

Jayce and the wheeled warriors, Centurions were also good.
D&D was good, excpet for that damn annoying Unicorn, who was, half of the time; the sole reason the adventurers didnt get to go home.
A certain young froggy always loved 'Dogtanian and the Three Muskerhounds', it had swords and sword fighting and history stuff and all that junk about honour and loyalty that frogs are such suckers for. The original series was recently released on DVD.
I also liked Disney's 'The Gummi Bears' because it had swords and sword fighting and history type stuff. I also liked the way the princess never behaved like one...Kalah, that was her name; she did a lot of archery and fought in a tournament in disguise. It was very non-Disney in tone and features the only princess I have ever actually liked, aside from those few I have written myself.
I really loved (and still do) 'Maid Marion and her Merry Men'; it was really funny and it had swords and sword fighting and, well you get the picture. It was like Blackadder does Robin Hood, very witty. Tony Robinson wrote it and played the sheriff of Nottingham. I would kill for this on DVD...
Notice the theme here? At the same time I was reading every single history book I could get my hands on, fiction and non fiction; I was also scorning Cadfael and other 'soppy' books because they didn't have enough knights in them, and they featured romance which was unforgivable. I've mellowed out a lot since then.

When I was in the US as a teenager I loved the Transformers (but I actually liked the new Trasnformers more) and was actually quite jealous that we did not have this kind of cartoons when I was smaller.
I have to admit that I still like to watch some of the old muppet scenes of Sesame Street - some of the Ernie & Bert or Cookie Monster (?) scenes are in a way brilliantly absurd.
I loved the Smurfs (which I still watch), Gargoyles (which I still watch), and I always liked Transformers. And I still love the Muppets
Also, I loved it whenver they showed the old Bugs Bunny, and Scooby Doo.
Looney Tunes, Sesame Street, and some others.
Nowadays, Balamory is good, especially the theme tune.
And the names. Josie Jump, Edea McCredie, PC Plum, Archie the Inventor, etc. Althouch I feel sorry for the people of Tobermory.
Ninja Turtles was the best show ever made. Hell, I still watch it (even though they got rid of the cool theme song and replaced it with a crappy one).
Also, I watched Power Rangers, before they became space pirates or whatever they are now. I remember the day when they had the dinosaurs (and the Green Ranger had a floating pyramid https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...-surprised.gif) instead of stupid cars, or motercycles, or jets.

Nothing beats Barney the Dinosaur when it comes to femininity for males. I do not believe i cencorship but kids immitate what they see and if i had a son i wouldnt want him to see to be too influenced of this sort of shows. ( I wonder if sexually starved miss piggy practically trying to force poor Kermit all the time , would have a chance of getting away with it today, the act would propably be axed ).Quote:

From a small memory in my brain, it was all about a young chap dreaming of becoming a knight on the round table with King Arthur, and of course he fufilled that dream with the help of his buddies.
The rest would be a toss up between Round the Twist (hilarious wacky aussie program), X-Men, and Sharky and George.

I was getting too old, late teens, when Transformers and stuff like that came out. we didn't 'get it' and so left it to the little kids.
The programmes that make me nostalgic are the Saturday morning shows, mainly American fare, stuff like Banana Splits, Champion the Wonder Horse, Danger Island, and Looney Toons classics. But me and my sisters absolutely adored Laurel and Hardy and would get up especially early to catch them in action. The Masters. Hilarious.
Of the Brit stuff, I preferred the surreal weirdness of progs like Rhubarb and Custard, Captain Pugwash, and The Clangers. It was the drugs man
Another big fave with us was 'Monkey', about the adventures of the Chinese Monkey-God.

Can't remember the name of this one, but it was a show starring chimps. They would dress them up and then have them act out the scenes and do a voice over for their lines. The main character was a chimp who was dressed as a spy or Get Smart kind of secret detective.

And of course, the T.V. weighed 300 lbs and was always placed on a small wire cart with wheels. You didn't dare set close to it because it might fall over on you at any time hehe

In those old black-and-white, get up to change the channel to one of 3 stations, have kid brother stand next to the rabbit-ear antenna to ever-so-slowly move it to get rid of 'snow' on the screen, days.....characters on TV shows would stop in the middle of the story, step out of character, reach down off screen, pick up a box of cereal (usually), look into the camera, and sell the stuff right there:
Kids, if you want to be big and strong, like Commander Cody, have Mom get you ....
then set the box down off-screen, and pick the story right back up again, chasing Indians, or flying spaceships, or whatever.
ah, you bet your life. ok. but didnt he also host 'name that tune' for a while?
