Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Hey, i dont remember you but i knew a few of the Lordz from my MTW days! I was [Loyalists]_Vitae back then! Played in quite a number of the online battles with gore and the lads. :duel:
As with the American conquest guys, i can lend you a hand texturing or modelling a unit or two! But not on a grand scale since what little free time i have i'll be spending on my second Men and Monsters mod but this time for rtw! However since i do like tinkering with other themes when im relaxing i would be reliable to produce a few high quality skins or models since i could take my time with them.
Good luck with this and if you get stuck i'll gladly offer what i know!
Regards,
Grudgebringer

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Depending on how early you start, you could have the Holy Roman Empire.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
If its as half as good as the last one then this is gonna kick huge amounts of arse ~:)

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Hi all,
We have had a look at the factions and many of them you have listed are being considered.
At this time the primary objective is to get some units made and in the engine.
To this end 3d modelling and a unit editor tool have been the main concern.
Thanks for the suggestions,
LoM

Napoleonic Total War 2
We have started work using the RTW engine to recreate the Napoleonic era,a lot of work has to be done but in the end we hope to deliver again a rock solid product just like NTW for MTW:VI.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Here we go again :charge:
Glad this one is doing better than the buffy thread already ~D
If you remember that one you'r really sad ~;)
All these offers of help are very inspiring , thank you ~:grouphug:
We have alot of work to do and it won't be easy but that never stopped us,
the last one wasn't easy neither ~D
Our goal is to do what we can and our ambition is to do what we want, so if we end up somewhere in between we should go along way to making nearly everybody happy .
Thank you

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
I can send you a screenshot first just let me know where. They are actually just the skins based on a particular in game model w/c will actually still need to be modified (I'm still hunting for a 3DSMax that will work with my Win98 system and Vercingetorix's CAS tool - my 3DSMax3 isn't up to scratch!)
I have the skin pretty much ready but it needs to be fitted on a 'cuirassier/dragoon/carabineer of the First Empire' type body (Napoleonic cuirassier's armored cuirass, minerva style helmet with large crest, a short uniform coat protruding at the back over the butt, long straight pants tucked into high riding boots) - actually I think a Napoleonic mod would not be 'too hard' as the uniforms are generally similar in cut with color being the main difference. If there are a bunch of general skeletons to work with then they could be skinned to everyone's heart's content!
Cheers,
Clare

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Sure send the screenshot D4 .
That is our basic idea for the models to start with, changing the animation is our main task at the moment.

Ok im a little confused. How are you gonna make it so the game has bullets and smoke and rifles. This isn't like MTW. It's going to be a lot of work.
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Yes. Gunpowder would be very hard.
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
You could edit in dust cloweds... and for bullets, the rocks thrown by the slingers...
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
Is it me or are those pictures in low resolution. I hope they don't look out of focus in the game.
BTW how do you guys animate the bullets and the smoke?
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
Creating smoke has already be done by other modders outside the Lordz as well.
Bullets go to fast, you don't see them fly actually so this will be no problem.
Onagers and stone balls can be changed into cannons and metall balls.
All this in time of course.Step by step it is the only way and patience is a virtue...

What if you pause the game?
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
So your going to sit at your keyboards for hours... trying to pause as the bullets fly?...
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
What about actually following the bullets? The camera would be moving pretty fast.

I wasnt going to, but I might just because you said that. ~
No, I was just asking for the sake of screenshots and stuff like that.
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
A shower of teeny-weeny bullets is hardly as impressive screen material as a volley of arrows of javelins, so I wouldn't worry too much if they were invisible.
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
It doesn't really matter as long as the units look crisp and polished. I hate it when they are fuzzy and pixelated.
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
ASA we have more polished screenies,i will post them here.

wow i mean wow ive been reading the lordz sight but it hasnt been updated for quite a while.i really want to know when the expected first version will come out for napoleonic totlal war 2(tell me plz i have no life and this is something ive wanted tom know for the past to weeks!!!!!!oh and lord toms map pack isnt working for download
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
NTW2 will be a long project a total conversion like this is not achieved in a few weeks.
First we are building our own modding tools for it(and share them with this community, check the Guides,Tutorial and Tools section)
First project is a SP battle pack(probably French and British) so we are busy with the 3D models and skinning, creating smoke and so on.
In the mean time work is being done on the campaign map, buildings, art and so on all these fases will be added later.
We constantly try to improve the game just like we did with NTW1,we are still finetuning NTW1 btw,so when will there be a first release i guess this will take a couple of months.
A first full Beta version hopefully within 2005,hard to tell our goal is a high quality historically accurate product.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
hmmmmmmm well i have a freind who is a computer genius and plays rtw i might be able to talk to him about helping you out
-
Lord de Moray
Hi there,
Would you mind sending me the CAS for the Cuirassier (if possible minus the red plume on the left of the helmet) so I can fit the Mousquetaire du Roi skin to it :) Actually the MdR is painted on the Barbarian Noble Cavalry CAS so alternatively that model could be modified by changing the lance to a sword, adding a Minerva type helmet and removing the shield (maybe you could roll it up and make it into a big helmet crest so its not wasted) and cropping the tunic front upwards so there's only a short 'skirt' at the rear similar to the cuirassier style.
I can send you the final one as soon as I get the CAS :)
Cheers,
Clare
-
Re: Napoleonic Total War 2
And if you could send over one WITH the lance but cuirassier style get-up (sans cuirass) as described above I could send you back a Chevauxleger-Lancier de Ligne (skin's already done just need the CAS corrected).
Cheers,
Clare

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Most of our energy goes into NTW2 but we do not forget
NTW1.
The latest patch is v503 and available on our website.
Current intern version is v505 and as we speak we are working on a MP patch and some other finetuning, testing will begin shortly.
ASA we are ready to go public with the latest patch for NTW1 i'll let you all know.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Having played NTW1 for a while, I have to say it is a top flight project, and certainly not a three person, fly by the seat of your pants operation. In fact, as a computer gamer back as far as the original Wizardy and Ultima and Zork up through... well, today, and as a miniature wargamer of the napoleonic period and just about every other period and range for my whole life, I think the original NTW is one of the most finely crafted games I have ever seen. If you are just reading about it for the first time here, I strongly suggest you hurry over to the Lordz forum and get caught up.
And once you have caught up, please come check in with one of the most (if not THE most) active multiplayer NTW Regiment, the Grenadier Guards.
www.ntwgg.com
And join the upcoming multiplayer campaign!
So salutations to all the Lordz (whom I bore frequently on their own board) and we'll see you on the field.
For Glory and Eagles.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
excellent stuff, can't wait to get my British Army on the road the world domination again.
Some little suggestions...
For the highlanders, the whole of the hackle could be red, not red and white, I think.
you could call the british foot artillery Royal Artillery
The Heavy dragoons could be dragoon guards
And, you could also include Highland Light Infantry, and fusiliers, and lancers, for the british.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
Just to give you an update our 3D team is working hard on different kind of models,a part of the team is switching to animation as RTW has no specific musket, firearm or artillery units this is a very vital part of the 3D work.Skinning alone is not enough so this will take time,i will keep you informed of the progress made on a regular base.

Re: Napoleonic Total War 2 (for RTW)
The Lordz are pleased to announce the release of
"The Fields of Battle Multiplayer Expansion add-on"
This add-on to the Napoleonic Total War mod (Version 503 required)
for Medieval Total War makes several balancing improvements to units, weapons and cost with the aim of a more realistic multiplayer experience.
This Expansion gives access to two new eras of play:
The Fields of Battle and The Eastern Alliance scenario's.
Now it must be stressed these are "Multiplayer options only"!
altough it may appear available as an SP campaign it will not function as such and will cause a CTD(Crash to Desktop).
Some of the features of this expansion are as follows:
1= Changes in unit cost relative to there abilities, this should mean less need for "extra rules" and setup in multiplayer games.
2= Cavalry combat stats have been improved, Infantry must now form deeper rank formations to withstand cavalry.
3= Artillery "Kill Chance" has been reduced, while ammo has been increased.
this allows artillery to be used in all battles, while making it much less of a "Unit Killer"
also artillery trajectory flattened and targetting improved.
The 4pounder is now a high speed "Horse Artillery Unit".
4= Musket /Rifles accuracy reduced, this should lead to longer battles and shows the scale of units better.
Also=new playable factions and units in EA: Saxony and Bavaria etc.
All these improvements have been done to improve the quality and enjoyment in a true Napoleonic era battle.
The ReadMe contains install instructions, follow the link for the download!
The Lordz wish to thank all those who have faithfully followed and contributed there feedback to make this addon possible,
Again we must stress this is a "Multiplayer Add-on" and though it may appear available on your SP era screen it will not function and only cause a CTD.
