I don't know, but it's not too many. Rowing is mostly legs and back. If it was how many squats I could do, now...
Don't know what a puchups is?
Is it a push-up?
Before I seperated my shoulder for a second time - I could do over 70 in two minutes.
And bench my body weight for 4 sets of 10 before I would begin to get fatiqued - body weight was 215 at the time.
Now I can't do any - the shoulder motion required no longer exists - and the body collaspes onto the ground.
However I can still do a lot of on your knee's push-ups - less stress on the upper chest and shoulders.
Well if its orange creamcicle pushups I can do about 10 of them.
Sounds like a PT patch to me. Nice.Quote:

There are many ways of attempting a push-up.
A real push-up is taken slowly with hands placed on the floor directly under your shoulders and your chest touching the ground on every push-up.
You must of course assume the Jaeger position (standing on hands and the tip of your toes having a flat back).
I could do 100-150 very fast push-ups where my chest only reaches halfway to the floor and by back is arching.
The real way, only about 50.
5-15 maybe
I do 50 puchups, some 200 ketchups, and maybe 100 latch-ups on a good day.Quote:

Dont really know. Usually on an average training day I do series like this:
1x40
1x35
1x30
2x25
2x20
3x15
3x10
4x5
All in about 15 mins. I do series of squats in between, same amount.
I guess I could do about 80+ straight, but I never actually checked, never been that bored....
I just did 20. :tired:
I'm not out of shape though. I do a lot of mountain climbing.
Between 30 and 40 depending on my mood. Slow, nose to the floor. I don't nearly as many as I should.
I would rather die of leprosy than do sit-ups.
Most I ever benched was around 270. (Sets of , oh, maybe two.) That was a few years back. Not today. (Maybe this summer.)
I hate sit-ups with a passion - doing them the way the Military wants you to do them gets to be old and tiresome. Not even sure if it actually improves your stomach muscles at all. However crunches - are very useful.
Proletariat - no PT patch for me - didn't run fast enough to get it - nor could I do the necessary number of situps in two minutes. Normally ran out of steam for situps at about 60-65 in two minutes.
Beriut - that is the best way to do the push-up in my opinion. Slow and easy with full range of motion. I think it allows the muscles to actually get stronger over time. Nor does it damage the muscles because its all smooth motions.
Currently I do about 2 sets of 20 every other day - just to maintain the shoulders at some level. However because the collar bone has no muscles or ligaments to attach it to where it belongs - I do "girly" pushups on my knees - really slow and easy so not to damage or bring pain to the shoulder.
Another good exercise to help your chest and shoulders - is doing push-off from the wall. Learned that one when I first damaged my shoulder.
like 25 but i'm not fit now, if i am i cand do 50-60
Those all the way up sit-ups are 70% hip flexors. Never liked them either. Crunches, scullers, obliques, knee ups, butterflys, six inches, v-bikes are much better for your abs.Quote:

All these people in bad faith and self deceit stating not what they are but something completely different. It is great, brilliant inspiration for writing Sartre coursework.
I can do 50,000 of course, well I could if I was superman, you understand.
I can do 30, honest JAG no lies :duel:
You think to high - if your going to make it up - make it at least realistic. Say somewhere around 150 push-up at one time. That is both possible and would make someone actually think that you have the ability. I have known several people that can do a little more then that - but hell your only still a kid - so I make it even more realistic for yourself and say 50-60.Quote:

Notice how many people have keep it at realistic and very possible amounts for them to, but in your normal bombastic way - you bring Satre into the discussion. You think to highly of Satre - almost to the point that it seems you worship his philisophy and writings. If so you have just lost the moral high ground in arguing against any religion - since you in essence are practicing a religion.
What is it Jag - jealous because you have no upper body strength? So you believe that no-one can have some strength in their upper body - either now or in the past. I am pushing 40 - with a seperated shoulder and like I said I still do two sets of twenty push-ups on my knees - are you attempting to state in your normall offensive and sarcistic way that we are all lairs. Have you been to my house and seen my physical activities - have you been to anyone's house and seen what they do for a physical workout. One must remember that this is a world wide community - consisting of people of different ages and backgrounds - not everyone is full of self-deceit nor are we all sad little boys that can not remain civil even in a light discussion about ourselves and our own physical strength.
By the way Jag - care to guess what the minimum number of push-ups the military expects of someone in your age group - and what every member of the military trains for in the United States. And my understanding is that the British military has the same physical standard - or maybe slightly higher.
The range of pushup from the tables I remember for the age group of 18-24 is 45-80 pushups in two minutes. And I saw lots of people max the number of pushups in this range. The numbers I have seen posted by members of the community seem to all fall slightly below this range - which would meet my realistic expectations of a bunch of civilians - that do not train everyday on doing push-ups
When I left the army - my required range was 40-68. Passed the PT test numerous times with a 3rd Degree AC seperation of the Right Shoulder with more then 50 push-ups in two minutes - and before it re-sperated was doing an average of 68-70. Not all that hard when you train yourself and your body to accomplish the task.
But go ahead with your narrow world view of self-loathing.
V-bikes - not sure if I know that one - is it similiar to the Sissor Kick - where one raises ther legs six inches off the ground and then begins to pretend their legs are sissors.Quote:

I work-out 2/3 times a week, alternate upper and lower body workouts.
On the upper body day I do:
10-15 Triangle Pushups
10-15 Pushups w/ legs elevated on a chair
15-20 regular
15-20 backwards- arms on chair/feet on ground.
I have been working out about 4 months but haven't gotten much better at pushups, but I have been able to increase weight of other excercises 10-20 pounds. Any advice?
More than 80.
Punchup=Pushup?
If so, I dont know/
Gotta train though so I can do 100 in 2 mins.
I have 4 years to train for that though, maybe 5.
Let me explain just a bit, it probably come across as I have my head in my ass but I was not questioning anything of what people say they can do, what I was laughing - admittedly probably to myself about - is how when people state 'well I could do this if I was fit' or 'I can do this if I wasn't tired after a long day' etc, they are deceiving themselves. What they are is how much they can do now, just like the question is, when you state what you could do, you are simply trying to give yourself extra credit for something you are not. I have been writing about this in my coursework about an hour before I read this thread, that is probably why I made the point.
As for me when I am being serious, I don't really know. I used to do around 60 a sitting, a day in a routine when I played rugby, football and athletics everyday a few years ago when I was 15/16, but I am not what I was then and now I don't really exercise at all anymore - no time. So rather than deceive myself and state what I could do if I was fit etc, I will state that I could only guess at around 20 ish.
JAG what the hell did you bring up your philosophy for? No one here said anything about how many they could do if they were fit. No one did!
.... You reading the same thread?

Ok so one guy. Big deal. The rest of are not dillusional.
Sigh read my second post. I was not havign a go etc at anyone, it wasn't meant to be a big deal......
What you stated was a backroom type conservation - not for the front room - the subject was light meant to strike innocent and fun conservation. However you chose to take it a different route.Quote:

also try to put your elbows closer to each other.
I did this the other night with my wife watching. 42, a far cry from the 80 or so I used to be able to do in my Ranger days.
Probably quite a few, seeing as my gym teacher gives over 25 pushups as warm-up, 10-100 for rule-breaking, and 10 for breaking a rule in a sport like traveling in basketball.
Tis from Medal of honour pacific assualtQuote:

Thats an improvment apon 6 months ago, where I could not do any from anywhere.
I just did 54 in a max out set, moderate speed, touching my chest hairs, back straight and level, etc. When I work out I do 3 sets of 30, one set wide, one set normal, then one set in triangle. In the evening I elevate my feet on the couch and repeat.
This thread brought back a fun memory from my days as a counselor at a summer camp. The camp was up in the hills on the California coast, and it got very hot in the summer time. Sodas were a hot commodity up there, and a common unit of barter. I won many a bet with a new set of campers by claiming that I could do between 2 and 300 pushups in less than a minute (say it out loud). They thought I was saying 200-300 and said "no way! Prove it!!" I would drop and do three, and then claim my sodas. When I explained they would go red in the face and complain about being suckered, but I still got my sodas.
If you're a small to medium guy and want to put a big tough (big-mouthed, braggart) dude in his place, challenge him to a headstand push-up contest. Find a wall, do a hand stand against it, and do push ups, pushing your entire body weight up off the ground. I can still do 12 of these (used to be able to do 20, but I'm 42 now ...). Many big guys can't even do one. I'm not exactly sure why, but the bigger you are, the more difficult these are.
i can now only do like
12 diamonds
25 shoulder wide about 5 times
in a few hours
hehehe
pretty much sets all day
and i just started 3 weeks ago
i try for 100-130 pushups in a day
at the same time i can probably only do 30
update - in 2 mins i did 50
I just won a bet for a 6 pack last weekend by doing 100, but that really, really screwed up my rotator cuff. Honestly, how many I can do safely at one sitting... probably about 80.
in basic i had to do 200 at once, apparently i was a "smart ass", i sure felt that in the mornin.....and the next week :D
