Fixed. Please consider carefully. The fate of humanity rests in your hands.

Come on you jerks! You flame and praise in the same post. Show some love here! Throw out that voice.

It no longer interests me. Medieval had me playing for months, but this is so shallow, like buying an ice cream cone and only getting a sugar cone with nothing in it.

I didn't know how to answer this, because while I think vanilla RTW sucks, and doesn't deserve more than a 4 or 5, I just installed RTR and suddenly the game has become a lot more fun, at least for now.
So I've compromised and given it a 6. Playing RTR has made me realize the potential this game has, which could be achieved with a bit more tweaking and polishing from CA. What I'd especially like to see are, obviously, improved campaign and battle AI, a better strategic balance (something to be done to stop the steamroller effect), a better developed diplomacy (for example, factions should gang up against any faction which takes the lead in number of provinces, until they knock it back to average size, as in games like Imperialism II) and more moddability. Come to think of it, it probably wouldn't be that hard to make diplomacy itself moddable, that could make for some pretty interesting mods...
4 - could have been great, but wasn't and still isn't.
As of 1am U.S. PST on 10 April 05:
Average rating of 5.6 from the Org with 20 measely replies. Thanks to those so far.
Keep em coming here folks.
Voted 6 - RTW is not as great as I hoped (though my reasons are different from those that are mostly mentioned on this forum), however, I still continuously play it and have a good time with it.
gotta say, those were some funny descriptions for poll choices ~D
i voted 7/10 because its is a fine RTS game
I voted 7 because I like to play it etc. (the usual reasons)
7 here as well. Great game love to play it.
7 here
My sentiments exactly. ~:handball:Quote:

I voted honestly. The game gets a 7
I voted 6, as it is definately a nice way to waste a weekend.
Number 6 for me.
Btw, you might want to take out the reference to heroin as a source of pleasure. After all, this is a public forum.
Jambo, While I understand your sentiment, I don't really see how that needs to be censored. It is not promoting heroin use, but using its effect as a descriptor. The accounts I've heard and read from heroin users describe it as an intense pleasurable experience literally producing sexual orgasm for some within a short time of injection. Unfortunately, this ability to so strongly stimulate the pleasure centers makes it incredibly physically and mentally addictive allowing it to completely control their lives and thus eventually kills many of them. It is an absolutely deadly destructive drug to the user, but in the text it conveys the intended thought.
It's good in it's own right, but it follows MTW and STW, which are 8-9ish.
Pretty skewed poll, imo, as there is no game in existence that I'd rank higher than 7. So, really, 4/7 isn't so bad.
Bh
A great game, addictive, not without its faults, but a truely outstanding acheivement. 9/10 ~D
I gave it 7, it still is one of the best games out there imho, certainly one of the best *recent* games, people have been comparing it too much to Civ3 and MTW, but how many games of that level come out a year ?
As it is. 3. I would've chosen 5 but it's not playable if you're seriously considering playing it without changing anything. Couldn't choose 4 cause I don't like TV, so 3 it is.
7 - though it has potential (and I was hoping) for higher. In my view, there was a big improvement in the campaign map over the previous TW games, but graphics & sieges aside, one step back on the battles. There is little I've run into that detracts from the game, but there is some stuff that prevents it from obtaining the next level. I am enjoying the game and despite the "warts", it still wins the beauty pagent. :gorgeous:
This poll is a very nice example of the gaussian distribution...
btw i voted 9, but perhaps it deserved less...
Please! A good poll should have a maximum of three choices. Two choices is best. Any more than that, and you do not have a true reflection of the community's sentiment. You have a bunch of mismatched opinions, which can be just as easily gleaned from reading posts.
If you want to know how the community in general feels about something, your poll choices must be general. Therefore, a good poll would have two answers: "I like the game" and "I do not like the game."
By the way, I give the game a two. I would give it a one for playability, stability, realism, and historical accuracy, but what effort that went into it and the potential the game has demands another point. No, I do not like the game any more. I am not playing single player at all, and I only started playing multiplayer again because a group of people from the other forum started playing together.

ORG average ranking 6.22 with 77 votes.
6.22? Some rough opinions here.
Well, your scale is a little off-putting. For example, if you had asked me to rank RTW on a scale of 1-10, I'd probably say 7. But your 7 is "A damn fine game. Truly enjoyable.", which doesn't, in my mind, fit RTW. And there is no game in existence that fits your 8-10 rating (again, imo).
Bh
Hmmm.
It's what I like to call "Divinus Arma's silly little way of telling a retarded joke because it is fun to have fun poking fun at things that are fun or not fun, depending on whether or not you like it and I am sorry that you did not get my dry sense of humor you lonely wretched hermit of a soul trapped behind a computer" type of poll.
In case you really care, the rankings are for fun. Choose 1-10 as you see fit. As you know, no game will ever be "Satan's ultimate revenge and sign of the apocalype" either.
And by the way, this response is another demonstration of my miserably dry sense of humor.
The problem is that some of us are wondering what the community really feels as a whole about Rome: Total War. I see lot of people who share my opinion that Rome: Total War is a shoddy game with much potential, but I also see people who can't see any wrong in it. I wonder just how many people feel that the game is not a good game. My guess is that six out of ten is a pretty accurate figure for how the comminuty feels about the game, even if it weren't for your odd wording of the overly numerous poll choices.
I would be unable to produce an "out of ten" figure without offering all ten options. The poll provides the data to produce a basic statistic from a convenience sample.Quote:

And a swedish massage (even when done by Swedes) isn't that good.. I can think of other things that are better..
What if the swedish massage is done by a swedish bikini team, who's bikini's are starting to fall apart?
they should really hire someone to fix thoseQuote:

An awesome game, and that's all there is to it. If you go to gamerankings.com, you'll find that it's the second highest scoring historical RTS of all time, second only to Age of Kings.
That's pretty good for a game that isn't a RTS game.
Bh
~D yeah, true, but it's grouped under that category nonetheless.
Benny_moore - sorry to mock you, but I knew you were american when i read your post, and before i checked where you were from. Two choices to represent a spectrum of opinion? You've been trampled and beaten by your so-called electoral system.
*grin* This coming from someone in the UK? You sure have a wide spectrum to choose from. Conservatives on the right, Labour on the right... (the Lib Dems are quite funky, though)
I like the descriptions on the poll! They're funny! 6 for me!
Truthfully, the first time I saw the thread title in the list of threads, my first thought was "multiplayer ladder match rankings" closely followed by "go back to the multiplayer forums"
:tongueg:
I disagree, I think it may be a better RTS than AoK but not as good as AoE.Quote:

With 100 replies, based on a convenience sample,
the Org Community has given RTW a ranking of 6.18 out of 10.
I voted
7:A damn fine game. Truly enjoyable.
The desription exactly hits it.
Which is a very good ranking, considering how hard it would be for any game to get to the highest ratings. In 'normal' review scores this would probably be around 85%.Quote:
