What's the craziest thing you've ever done for RTW? (part 2)

This is just to continue from the earlier topic which was closed because it's creator was a pirate. So before i begin, this is a note to all you admins: there is no piracy in here!! Anyone who mentions it, i will report them! Anyway, the craziest thing i've ever done was make a copy of the campaign map with all the cities drawn on and stuff, and once i had finished a campaign draw the extent of my empire. Also, throughout a campaign i would write down in a little notebook the various events. It makes for an interesting read.

I've stuck my map onto the wall above my computer for easier reference.. I've also got a little pointer :embarassed:

Oh man, but that other guy, who shall remain nameless, was INSANE!!!

Aye, that guy was mad. Who on earth makes 20 copies of a map of RTW by hand!?

Someone who enjoys drawing, recreating the RTW map and/or difficult projects..

You left out the key element Craterus... he must also be insane in the membrane ~:) . Don't get me wrong, I'm not making fun of him or anyone else who does stuff like that. It's kinda cool... but crazy. Crazy=good in my book. I have a pretty weird book. You should take a look sometime... I mean... I think it's pretty cool... the book... *mumble mumble*

That was fast for a thread to degenrate... And from my time as a .com moderator I know what is fast.

Anyway the craziest thing I have ever done for RTW was to mod the game for days on end, spending perhaps 150 hours to make it fit my vision, then try it out only to see it crash. Not knowing about "show_err" or where the problem was I reinstalled did it again, this time using less time and checking the game again and again, until the last parts when I got impatient, and bam yet another crash. Reinstall... Three times my friends... THREE BLOODY TIMES! But that was not the crazy part, the crazy part is that any sane person would have left it after the second crash and give up, but nooo I had to continue... and continue... and continue. And damn me if I'm not still at it (but now I have show_err enabled).

Well might as well mention my "crazy" thing... although it pales in comparison to the others. But uh, ya... I played for 26 hours straight... without getting up at all I believe. I'm sure others have also. Maybe more. Hm?

man, if I had that sort of time I'd be really happy.

But oh well. As soon as I figure out how to get a) my scanner to work and b) my maps and sketches uploaded I shall put them on this thread just to show you I AM insane XD

And, ah well, I'm starting to save up for the original RTW. Yup. Will get it together with the expansion.

20 maps isn't much, really... I have a talent for drawing maps. Of those 20, only about 10 are world campaign maps, the others are of regions, e.g. Greece, Gaul, Spain... And I've got mobilisation tables too, detailing what to build in which turn to raise new armies :-D My room now looks more like an RTW war room than a place to live in.

Hear, hear! I recognize that feeling Kraxis, I´m smitten too, he he!

Sometimes I´ve been playing for more than 36hrs straight since I ´ve a insomnia problem and just can´t sleep for several days on end. At one point, when researching for the FotN-mod, I actually went and bought books, tons of them. I must have spent well over a 1000$ on them, for no purpose since it seems that FotN will never be released due to the fact that everyone have gone off to others things. It´s a pity since I´d have love to produce FotN on the RTW-engine.

Yes, this is becoming a spam thread. However, its topic is both spam/RTW so we should leave them here, in the Colosseum, in which the name suggests tolerance (well, as long as the mob is not angry), huge variety of topics, violence (kidding...), and spam here and there, right, RIGHT? ~D

Not on my watch. Spam is still spam. And anything that is off-topic of the subject (or forum), and does not contribute anything meaningful to the thread (or forum) is still spam.

I'm starting to realise (once again) that recording every single army and diplomat movement in a notebook when you empire has hit 30 regions is rather timeconsuming. I'm averaging a turn every 45 minutes. Is that normal?

Wouldn't screenshots improve speed.

But you can't take multiple screenshots, so i'd only be taking a snapshot of a segment of my empire before having to pause it and save it. Quite inconvenient.

It's a screenshot taking program for multiple screenshots. You just press F10 however many times you please at any time, and it automatically stores all the pictures in a specified folder for your viewing pleasure when your done.

Can`t you take multiple screenshots? Do you mean in a row to create a movie or a mosaic or what?? ~:confused:

I always take several screenshots each time I play.

Do you take screenshots by pressing the 'print screen' button? That way, you have to minimize and paste the pictures in the middle of a game, one by one. With Fraps, they are all automatically saved in a folder while still playing.

No, I use the F6 button. I thought the print screen button didn`t work properly, now I know why.

I would advise anyone else doing the same since now all the screenshots are saved in the tga-folder automatically.

Of course you have to edit it in options first.

Once i wrote down all the names of the cities in RTW from west to east.
