Damn right, who do you listen to? I am a hardcore headbanger!
Mostly I'm into oldscool-hardcore-european HC and similars. I play it myself....
I'm not sure about this new scandinavian metal... must open myself more I guess...
Scandinavian metal rulz... Bodom, In Flames, Arch enemy etc, etc.
Still you can't beat classic heavy metal like Maiden and old school Metallica.
A friend of mine gave me Moonspell recently and they rock! Are they scandinavian?
I'm one as well ~
im sure everyone knows my favorite band by now
I don't really like them that much, just not really my type. They are from Portugal I believe.Quote:

Bang your head, mental health will drive you mad
anyway, I've mellowed out in the last 30-40 years, but my favorite is still

Check out Ozzfest this year:
Iron Maiden are playing only songs from their first four albums!
That is going to rock!
In other news, Dio has signed on to be in Jack Black's movie about Tenacious D, "Pick of Destiny".
Ah Ozzy and Black Sabbath are classic. I am so glad they have reformed with original line up and doing another album!!!!!
Vol 4, Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath are classic albums, awesome.
And Ozzy's solo stuff wasn't bad, Crazy Train rulz. Randy Rhoads was a very good guitar player.
Although I love most types of music, Metal in most (if not all) of it's varieties will always be my main love.
I first really got into it at the tail end of the NWOBHM scene, and the start of the thrash scene, but had already been listening to a lot of the old school bands. It's nice to see so many others who listen to the same type of music as myself.
You got to see them live! Though it may take some effort to bang your head and not looking at Angela.Quote:

~ :gorgeous:
A bit too aggressive for me. I think it'd be better if everyone just peaced out...
*dances with flowers*
Seriously though, my tastes extend to Zeppelin, Sabbath and early Metallica, but not much beyond that. I've never liked Maiden-don't get on with the 'gallop'.
BTW I forgot to mention
I recently purchased the new Ozzy Box Set, which contained a coupon for a buy-one-get-one free to the 2005 Oz-Fest.
I will not be able to attend due to work conflicts, but . . .
If anybody plans on attending Oz-Fest 2005 and wants to get a free ticket please let me know and I'll mail my coupon to you.
First come first served.

I'm a fan of Pantera, Slayer, old school Korn, Deftones, Snot, Hed PE etc Use to be fan of Metal music but haven't had the time to listen to some good headbanging tunes in ages, heard the new system of a down single the day and it was amazing
Primus.
Oh yeah.
Wow. Have they said anything about the set they will play at Reading? Already pretty excited about that...Quote:

I mostly don't like rock, but I'm fan of 'The Rasmus', the're great!
I think Arch Enemy is overrated. I heard the latest single the other day and was actually pissed right off to hear Angela's vocals doctored all to hell by the computer. She sounds Otep. The riffage in that song wasn't bad at all, though. Not as brutal as I usually take it, but it was enough to get a little bounce going.Quote:

I only like death metal - anything else is just too soft ~:)
I find it interesting all the different names for headbangers in different areas.
Where I grew up (Ontario), we were called metalheads or simply freaks (as distinguished from hippies, who were called 'Peace freaks'). In other parts of the province, we were called skids or headbangers. Any other ones I'm missing?
Mophead and hair farmer, but those aren't necessarily metalheads.Quote:

Yes EA - EXACTLY the same! Lucky bast if you're going. They are doing it because of the DVD they released celebrating the early years. You are in for some hardcore Maiden music from their early and pretty much best time.Quote:

I like all kinds of metal. Arch Enemy is great (and live they REALLY rule). Children of Bodom is brilliant. I also like Dimmu Borgir, Tristania, Epica, Trail of Tears, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Moonspell, Machine Head, Orphaned Land, ...
And have seen most of these live.
Tank Warning Net. We are together more or less 10 years, we play HC (actually, I've heard like hundreds of descriptions of our music - grind, crust, death-core :dizzy2: core-grind, hardcore-grind-punk :dizzy2: .... we call it Mutant Rock  ~D ).Quote:

I used to listen to alot of metal before, but now only a few of those bands still survive on my listening list. Sepultura, Pantera, Tiamat, Soulfly, and early Paradise Lost would be the most prominent ones, with a few new ones like System of a Down and Rammstein added too. Before I listened to a lot of different bands of this sort, from Motorhead and Iron Maiden to Napalm Death, Suicidal Tendencies, Exploited, and My Dying Bride, but I kind of grew out of that 'pure power' phase.

I've tried doing some research on black metal sites, but the reviews are all very pretentious and are way too superfluous in their descriptions to help the laywoman decide what else to try.
Death metal's way too aggressive for me, but I like the corny 'graveyard' ambience of some of this black metal I've heard. It's nice 'stare at the ceiling for a few hours and think about non-sense' music.
P.S. Adrian, Debussy is just what the doctor ordered.
:gring:
Personally, I hate Burzum, but if it's because you want the 'dungeon music' feel, Mortiis' album The Stargate should be up your alley. It's not metal, of course, but arguably, neither is Burzum.
I'm really soft + I never had long enough hair to bang properly.
Metallica got me into metal back in the eighties.
A couple of problems I have with many metal (and hiphop) acts
-they look and act very silly indeed, and have silly lyrics
-when the music is not instrumental, I prefer to have some singing involved
I saw Slipknot last year, and they were good. Some singing, very silly-looking.
Slipknot isn't metal. I hate to be the one to say for the first time here.
Do you know the new stuff from Kreator? It's great. Still one of my favorite band. Just forget "Endorama" exists. *shudder*Quote:

What is it then? I like them. Ok, they are hyped, but why care?Quote:

Saw Tristania some months ago, together with Nightwish in Wieze. Let's just say Nightwish killed them, buried them and rocked on their graves...Quote:

I'm into metal since almost 10 years now. I listen to bands like Marduk, Mayhem, Immortal, Dismember and Cannibal Corpse, so I don't think I'm a typical mainstream consumer. Still, Slipknot sounds like metal to me. I don't know about Korn though.Quote:

Does anyone know the Greek band Astarte? They are among my favorites.
My first ever concert was Iron Maiden, Powerslave tour.
Other highlights of my concert-going career were Ministry at Lollapalooza (dear lord, the casualties from that mosh pit!) and the Ramones at a little club in Hamilton, Canada. Both blew me away.
That's because I don't have any artists on Q at all. The late Bathory mastermind should certainly be good for that, my Bathory CDs sound great. ~DQuote:

Well, all of them ~:)Quote:

The first, Doomed Dark Years, sounds a bit like the early Satyricon. It's amazing that three girls from Greece can create such a cold atmosphere. Though in comparison with the others, that one might get a bit boring after you heard it a few times.
The second, Rise from Within, goes in the same direction but has more variation. They developed their own style there.
The third, Quod Superior, sicut Inferior, is IMO their best one. Still cold, hard black metal, but with their own ideas and a bit experimentation.
I would love to see them live, but they tour very little.
I disagree. I hate Pantera. They went from Glam Rock to the progenitor of all tough guy hardcore. Putting Slipknot and Pantera on the same tier seems right to me, as long this tier is below par.Quote:

Well, whatever. If you don't think they are metal, I've no problem with it. Just don't expect me stop liking them.Quote:

Well, three of them are women, but they didn't get much media attention anyway. At least here. In my opinion, they are far underrated. To be honest, I decided to try them out because I read that they are an all female black metal band (which isn't true, the drummer is a man) and I wanted to know how they sound, but their first release convinced me entirely. The later CDs I got only because it's high quality stuff.
It's really not much of my business as to whether or not you like them. I can't tell you what to like, and I have no wish to.Quote:

Nevertheless, has anybody been to one of their concerts lately? Do they still play the old material (as in pre-One second songs)?
Yes, of course.Quote:

Well, I saw them 2 weeks ago. They played a set of about 100 minutes. I tought it was a great concert. But if you're looking to hear a lot of old songs I think you'll be dissapointed. They played True Belief, As I Die and 2 songs from Draconian Times. But they played the new album almost completely (it is an album release tour after all), and it sounded great. Their latest album also is great IMO.Quote:

Goin' to see Immolation and Skinless tonight, with local openers Deämon and Sordid. If any of you are interested, I highly recommended acquiring some Deämon if you can. It's delicious.
And a note for the English metalheads out there: Some guy apparently dug up some old Grind Corps (another band from my city) and pressed it to vinyl for a split with Anal Cavern, released only in Britain. Keep your eyes peeled for it, and if you would be so kind, buy me a second copy!
One of the best British metal acts at the moment imo are Sikth. Some of their tunes sych as Pussyfoot, Hold my finger and Such the fool are completely badass ~D
