I have that book ~ My nickname comes from complete boredom... oh and the little Japanese Sword I used to have.
Demon in Thomas Harlan's Oath of Empire series.
My standard internet name is Fuh Teng... but I lost that account long ago.
Azi
Kaiser as in Caesar, of Arabia from Pape for my kill everyone responses to simple problems.
I'm of 100% byzantine romaios lineage so I named myself accordingly.
It is the Civil War term for the United States (Union Troops) Army Field Artillery soldiers. It came about because the Army used colors to designate the different branches of the Army - and a stripe was sewn along the outseam of the pants leg. Red is the color for Artillery - hence Redlegs came about as the Nickname.
I was twelve, and since my regulard name was already taken, the game service, suggested this one.
Some character from LotR
I hope you're not as annoying as those ***** things... ~;)Quote:

Well I 'm really bad at picking a nick.. so I just chose something easy...
:balloon2:
Mine came from an Episode of Red Dwarf where Dave lister using an AR machine to go into a Medievil Game...he then proceeds to announce himself "I, am Lister of Smeg"
the 16 part comes from my lucky number, 16. Which i got because of some sporting issues....
Firstly, after Malcolm III Canmore, King of Scots. He annexed some of Northumbria and Strathclyde, and made the language of his court Saxon. His wife was Queen, now Saint, Margaret. He replaced the Celtic Church with the Catholic Church as the established church of the realm. he also abolished the tradition of Tanistry, by which the King was eleced by a council of nobles, and replaced it with Primogeniture so that it was the kingship was hereditary (I prefer both the Celtic Church, which is much older than the Catholic; and Tanistry of Pictish origins I believe)
Secondly, it is after my Christian name, Malcolm, and I want to be King, so King Malcolm seemed sensible.
Chose a historical name and I've always been interested in Alexander the Great, and Craterus was one of his best friends (and commanders).
Info on Craterus
You may think that my name is Taurus because I was born on the 20th of April - 20th of May but you'd be wrong becasue I was actually born on the 15th of March. ~
To be honest I saw the name when I went into the local computer store and I saw one of the staff wearing a T-Shirt with the word Taurus on it, it was some kind of software company or something but I think it sounded cool plus I think that bulls are cool anyway so there we go.
BG is cool, though the last album is not so cool, as previous.Quote:

My name was the most accurate thing I could come up with at the time...
I had just looked at my new timex watch and i spelled "timex" backwards and put a G on the end because my last name starts with a 'G'.
Well, when one register one need a username, so I just picked the first thing that came to mind.
knight's armour is silver. thus...TheSilverKnight
GertGregoor<=>Gert (Jan) Gregoor
I just hadn't any inspiration... :-|

15 years ago I was in London with a friend. We went off in search of an Ethiopian restaurant we had found in a directory.
We didn't fint it, and for some reason we ended up at an "all you can eat" pizza buffet. We were very ironic, I guess.
We found the house red to be modestly priced, and gave it more attention than the pizza, which was probably of little merit.
I eventually had to "go", and proudly announced that this would indeed be the largest leak since the Titanic.
My friend then said
which is a line from "Wild at heart", only it's said by Bobby Pery about Bobby Peru.Quote:
Quote:
"Ya'll take a listen, you'll hear the deep sound comin' down from Paul Peru."
My friend later explained that
a) I think I'm very deep, but all that comes out of me is piss
b) He thought I resembled Willem Dafoe (I don't)
The name stuck, and I've been using it as an alias and "evil alter ego" since.
Taurus is also a gun maker, and they make a revolver called the raging bull.
Me? Well, I had some pet rabbits, and had watched the Holy Grail, and it just fell into place.

Started life here at the Org as "Taiko", after the Japenese drum-players
http://images.google.com/images?q=tb...acob/taiko.gif
but abandoned it because it was similar to a few other names here then, and folks got confused.
When Mongol Invasion demo was released, many usernames here had to do with swords, blades, etc; so I picked an unusual weapon (the kukri) and added Khan to make it more relate to the game.

Well Uesugi Kenshin (1530-1578 iirc) was a great warlord in Sengoku Jidai era Japan and I'm horrible at pciking names so I just picked that one as it had a TW theme and Kenshin is my favorite warlord of the time period.
And it is a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant song off one of the best albums ever made.Quote:

yeah. about an hour and 5 minutes until its on (grrr... Atlantic Time).
Although I like Master Shake better than both... he's just such a maniacal *******
Oh they are...Himura Kenshin is just a legend. The OAV Tsuioku Hen in 4 parts is just amazing, it's not like the series with all that DB like fighting, it's way more realistic and dramatic, and best drew and animated too.Quote:

I often run around as Mr.Nubluck in some FPS now, because.. well.
Mount Suribachi is the name of the summit on Iwo Jima where the US Marines raised that flag. I always thought it was the coolest name. Plus, when I joined, it was pre-MTW and everyone had Japanese sounding names and this was the nearest I got to that
My name + my favourite time of history.
Simple as that.
ichi is one of the great characters in Samurai Cinema, short for Zatoichi Zatoichi, a blind yakuza masseur who slices and dices.
http://nikkeiview.com/images/zatoichi-katsu.jpg
ichi also means one in Japanese, and ichi the killer is an odd, horribly violent film
ichi
All those commenting on my nick: I have never heard of Kenshin Himura before now, never saw that OAV, and I just needed a nick at the time... Interesting to learn the meaning of Kenshin.
IS it obvious, maybe? ~D
I find it in thread about EB and Bartix faction before I register.
Well i presently work at a particularly tedious security job. To pass the time i try to devise little ways to entertain myself like "visitor bingo". In this you have to select various phrases people may say to you during the course of the day and make a bingo card of them. When they are said you tick it off. You also choose several evil/unlikely things for your colleague who you play against. The first to get all their phrases wins....but i digress.
My nickname came about because before the evolution of visitor bingo, madman top trumps and clothing cricket i underwent a phase of trying to become ambidextrous. I tried to learn to play darts in our mess room left handed, write left handed and do various pen tricks left handed. One night a few of the lads and i were working late and goodfellas was on the TV, we saw the bit about "johnnytwotimes" who says everything twice, "I gotta go get the papers, get the papers". Somebody suggested i would be a good JimmyTwoHand.....and there we go.
If any one else works a particularly tedious job, full rules for all of the above games can be provided. ~D ~:handball:
King Ragnar was one of my greatest king in my old VI Campaign, so i just used that.
My nick is derived from "Homo Ludens", which means "playing man" in Latin. I am bad at making up names, so when I had to think of an interesting nick for the umpteenth time I just tried to translate player in Latin. Since my Latin is not good, I ended up with Ludens: playing. And since it pretty much summed up what I was doing at the time, so I stuck with it.
A monster from Terry Brooks books fought by Garet Jax and Allanon, I added the apostrophe.
I also use Aeil on other forums, which is from the Wheel of Time books but I think he spells it Aiel, thought I'd at least try and be different.
I did used to use Raptor after I was dubbedit in my last job for reasons we don't need to go into, but everyone and his dog uses that one.
Adrian II was a transitional pope who devoted most of his time in office to the promotion of a hopeless case: literacy.
Is that the Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurst co-authored books? Great story BTW…Quote:

Master Shake is actually my favorite, too. I just see myself as more of a Meatwad... albeit an angry Meatwad... and certainly not immature... actually, it's mainly just my stature that makes us similar.Quote:

I got my nickname from Martok, the Klingon general (and later Chancellor) from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I liked his character so much that I adopted it as my online name in most forums--starting with this one. ~

I dont know if any of you like Akira Kurosawa films at all, but thats where my name comes from. In "Throne of Blood" the master`s version of Shakespeares Hamlet, the main character is General Washizu, I liked the character so much i stole his name, however i swapped the a and the i around.
Aenlic is Saxon/Old English for solo/alone. It transformed into "anly" in Middle English and then "only" in modern English. It should be Ænlic; but I'm usually too lazy to use the alt-keypad combos and some places don't support them.
The origin of my membername?
Well, mine was named the Fat by my ex...~:smoking:
Oh how i liked all the drama and the music on that film...is just unberable. ~:cheers:Quote:

Most people know Csar means caesar in Russia.
Csar is also spelled with tsar or czar either way.

it's a long, boring story. i posted it somewhere here a while back, i think.
Don't ask me, ask somebody else...
LOL!!!
My first nick was Daveinkorea. I had joined the Org while I was serving in Korea in the Air Force...
A few years ago, there was a thread of the worst album covers ever. Well, the funniest one was "Devastatin Dave, the Turn Table Slave". The guy on the cover looked like a cracked-out Jermaine Jackson look alike, with the jerry curls, sun glasses, everything. I can't remember who suggested it (I'm thinking it was either Idaho, Gawain, Jag, or possibly Redleg) but they suggested that I'd ask Tosa to change my name from daveinkorea to Devastatin' Dave. Tosa graciously changed it for me. It was messed up at first because of the " ' " at the end of the word "devastatin". So we chopped off the " ' ". Now its working like a champ, unless I'm banned for whatever stupid thing I say next!!!
~
Back in the STW days I was looking for a Japanese sounding forum name. I had a tradition of sort of using my first name and modifying it for D&D (Gregolas), online Starcraft (Gregus), etc. For STW, I looked at Japanese names and their endings. After some deep thinking, I decided that "oshi" was the best. I've been Gregoshi every since.
Got it from a book I was reading before the release of RTW.
Its my online name in all applications, forums, and games - ive even had packages sent to me under that name.
When I first started online games I wanted to call myself Panzer in honor of my grandfather who was a panzer commander in world war two. However, Panzer is an all too common name and I often couldnt use it.
I remembered that my grandfather briefly commanded a panzerjäger before being chosen for an actual tank, so that had to do.
i was given this nickname by my troops this after i took a city and massacredeveryone inside.except for the hot girls, which are now mine.
