Hi name sounds cool to me and no one else would ever choose him as a name anywhere else - so I don't have to worry about changing it for different sites.

Needed a nick quick for a Q3-match and happened to to look at a cover of a book about the Crusades. Changed the "c" to "k" and almost all my friends on the net know me as Krusader, so I've stuck with it.

Re: what's with your nickname?
When I first went online I thought to myself that my last name (Dreyer) wouldnt be common place on the web, how wrong I was. (In fact someone with my exact name had a website online the creepy thing was he lived only ten miles from my last home.)So i thought how can I think of a name that no one else has thought of, then it struck me three nonsensical words strung together into some kind of sense. And no one has thought of it.
Probably for good reason.

Re: what's with your nickname?
My name comes from Sven Hassel novels. Little Legionaire was a ex French legionaire. His real name is Alfred Kalb and he was a German. When he returned to Germany he arrested by SS and sent out to Fagen then they sent him to penal battalion. He was a muslim and carrying long moorish blade to cut the throats of their enemies and he was shouting "Allahuakbar" when charged over on enemies. ~:handball: He was a really interesting figure. Quite, cruel in war, trustable, some nut and totaly dramatic...
and me and Turkish style Yataghan (standart janissary close combat weapon) similar to Falcata design Turkish blade...

Re: what's with your nickname?
Twenty years ago, when I started at High School, a mate and me created a crappy comic strip for the school newspaper. The main character was Dux Corvan, a late Roman military leader that attended classes and made innocent unintended puns about teaching, learning and human nature. We took Dux because he was a kind of general, and Corvan... well, because it sounded cool.
Many years after I took it as nick for every PC game I played -from X-Wing to Diablo and air sims- and now I use it for everything, including forums and online games. Thus, I avoid damaging my brain cells by inventing new cool names constantly.
the -us ending is to make it more Latin-ish, according to the spirit of the site.

"Pse" is short for my real name. "Ramesses" stands for my passion of Ramesses the Great and ancient Egypt. I´ve been using this nick since CIVII came out so I´ve used it for some 11-12 years, if I remeber correctly.

Re: what's with your nickname?
Quite a few years ago, after having had numerous nicknames in games and on the web I decided to make one up to keep it a little organised; as I was reading unfinished tales (C. Tolkien) I played a little with the elvish vocabulaire at the back and came up with Ellesthyan. I don't really remember what it supposed to translate to other than something with stars. Though some people tend to think it's a female name (Ellen... shit like that) I'm keeping it just 'cause it's mine, and I'll be certain no one will have my nick already... :dizzy2: ~D

Re: what's with your nickname?
I think it means " a bend in the river" in Latin. It was in a book I read referring to the position of a roman fort and later the town around it took the name. Ive never actually looked it up so its possible its totally wrong. I took it 'cause it seemed obscure (but memorable). I hate having to try 50 different names to sign onto a site.

Re: what's with your nickname?
I wanted a Carthaginian name when I started playing Age of Empires 1 on the MSN Gaming Zone. Hannibal, Hasdrubal, etc were all taken, but Adherbal wasn't (I had that name from a novel about hannibal and wasn't even sure he existed). Been using that nick ever since.

Carthaginian? Well, the name itself is Punic, but AFAIK, Adherbal was a Numidian king, son of Micipsa, whom succeded, and cousin of Jugurtha, who deprived him of the throne.
BTW, what's that [cF] about? ~

kayapó is an indian name. :indian_brave:

Re: what's with your nickname?
I dont know if any of you like Akira Kurosawa films at all, but thats where my name comes from. In "Throne of Blood" the master`s version of Shakespeares Hamlet, the main character is General Washizu, I liked the character so much i stole his name, however i swapped the a and the i around.
-
Re: what's with your nickname?
I liked the Seven samurai and Dersu Uzala, but found Ran (Kurosawa's vision of Shakespeare's King Lear), to be too long and tedious.

there was also a Carthaginian admiral named Adherbal who defeated a roman fleet at Drepana.
And cF stands for "Carthaginian Forces", my old Age of Empires clan. We lasted for over 4 years, but then we started to get bored of Age of Mythology and I tried to move the clan to RTW. But there was hardly any interest in the game and the clan died completly soon after.

Wow there are some interesting stories here behind some interesting nicknames. The story behind my nickname for this forum is basic, but is taken from a great scottish band named Biffy Clyro, no doubt a few of you may have heard of them.
