Your own perfect computer game!
Me and a mate was thinking about this. What if you had retardedly huge amount of money and could pay Blizzard or id-software or some other 'huge' company to design a game exactly as you want it.
What would you tell them to do? :duel: :charge: :knight:

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Another X-wing/Tie Fighter spaceflight sim, *********!
-
Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Fallout 3 done perfectly with a story so long and intricate that it takes 6 months to complete it, not including side quests.
-
Re: Your own perfect computer game!
I'd ask them to develop a MP campaign for stw, mtw and stw (with expansions)

Re: Your own perfect computer game!

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Close Combat 5 that doesn't crash and with an AI that can beat me.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Online Football Player Simulation. That is the same RPG way that you are a football player not an Elf or Undead..
I even had a presentation about it at university for a course that dictated to find out a unique product for marketing.
24 hours of work and I had compiled a video clip for it. Soundtrackked with Dance eJay4 on my own, people were dancing while they were watching my video clip. Aaah, good ol' days..
Well it was named "World At Feet" ~:)

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
a historical game where you can become a single man in a unit of about 80 and take part in large scale battles as a roman/spartan/scythian ect. and can build up strengh like an rpg but it dos'nt take 40 hits with a so called razor sharp sword to kill somrthing.... you know what, i just really want a time machine, i was not made for this age.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A new Shogun: TW, of course. I'd like to see the graphics modernized, weather effects retained, and an expanded diplomatic system. I'd like to see the AI updated to be as challenging and realistic as humanly possible given today's technology. I'd want it to be as historically accurate as possible, but balanced with smooth, intuitive and engaging gameplay.
I think it would be cool to also expand the aspects of strategic agents, taisho, and daimyo--to add a "story" element to the game. Perhaps incorporate aspects of the game in "FPS" style, which are segued to when certain actions are taken, or circumstances are encountered. You become the ninja, kunouchi (female ninja--what geishas in the game really are, in my mind), or shinobi, and execute a mission, etc. If a daisho or daimyo flees the field, it segues to an "FPS"-like interface and you have to hunt down the fleeing general or defend yourself, etc.
This last isn't very likely, as it would require a completely different, additional engine, but since this is a "dream game" thread, I thought I'd put it out here. I might expand on this further when I have some more time.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
well persoanlly I would buy up Blizzard and scrap the "l33t haxxor" game WoW wich is so lame and "candyland" it can get.
Instead I would pay 'em to make a similar game, but instead set the Forgotten Realms (you know what I mean if you played D&D-PnP/BG/NWN).
I got so many ideas on how it would be done I wish I was filthy rich! ~D
Just imagen the whole Forgotten Realm made in to one gameworld you can explore, grow powerfull and all around nice or naughty. :duel:

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
something like master of the puppets said, a mix of the Total War series and Mount&Blade. and they could expand this to include the whole world from ancient times up to today.and of course implement everything so it works like a sim of it´s own, I mean, I didn´t like the low visibility and the not-very-simlike flightmodels of planes in OFP, thought the rest of the game was quite good. after that I´d of course have to use the rest of my huge amount of money to get some appropriate hardware to have unlimited line of sight and enough RAM to put the whole world into it.~D
Well, I would certainly come up with more details and wishes while they were working on the game.~D
Oh, btw, I´d tell them to make a certain part of the game playable early on and add other content later on, cause i wouldn´t like to wait for them to finish it.~;)

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A new and improved StarCraft with all the units redrawn in an animated fashion. More intricate gameplay.
Or a Counter strike type of Starcraft game, I know something like that exists, but it's not fun like CS.

Waiting for OF2 is like waiting for Duke Nukem Forever. It's starting to get to be a joke.

I want to see a combination of Star Wars Rebellion and Tie Fighter/X-Wing. Command the fleets on the strategy map, fight at the fliers in the battles.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A flightsim with a trigger system, Mosquitos, Lancasters, close air support missions with troops popping smoke to mark targets, etc., an incredible mission editor, and insane graphics.
Mix IL2 + Lock On + Janes WWII Fighters + Janes USAF + Falcon 4 into a WWII prop sim.
Yeah baby!

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A grand theft auto style game set in MTW. With options to be characters like the emissary, spy or assassin. ~D

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A sequel to the Warriors. I'm not going to bother talking too much about the content but it should have but generally more mayhem and more gangs and alot more fun throwed in

Well, they are, as it stands, pixels. ~;p
I haven't actually noticed that, but it might be that I play on 1600x1200.

Those and Flanker 2.5 added on top of OFP with a real physics engine, or in other words, OFP2 ;)

I can see it now... Playing Willy D'Bastard and his Normie Posse, performing drive-by archery on Harold G's crib

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
The best game would be - without question - an all time war-simulation. You pick a date, an age of your character, place, and what status you would have. If you pick noble you might be a general, or a part of some elite squad. What about a knight? A member in a spartan army with sparta at it's hight? Working your way from simple peasant to bodyguard of the king, kill the king and try to take the throne for yourself? Sure, do it!
To bad im not dead yet (I mean, god can do anything right?(If he exist that is, what about a sign?))

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
a game where you get to play as the bad guys... for example instead of leading a crack team of SAS or Delta you have to try and stop them and make sure no hostages are taken or something and you have to try and take over the world and turn everyone to your point of view

actually - I've always wanted to play as the terrorists in Rainbow Six series.

Re : Your own perfect computer game!
This question has already been asked in the Arena, but heh
A RPG where you get to play as a random people in a random place around 1204. You chose your birthplace, your look, all these kinds of things, and then you can play as a worker, a warrior, a mercenary, a priest, a nobleman or whatever else. Characters would have a load of different skills and stats, and the game would be played on a realistic map that would cover Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
A specialised version of Rome Total War, modified in the following ways and run on a network of Ninja PC's:
1) There would be no monitor. There would be a few giant screens instead, all around you and overhead (in a room about 5 x 5m). Probably rear projector type stuff to avoid heat build up. Access would be via the floor, with integrated quiet A/C with temperature control and built in chemical dosing that adds in appropriate aromas depending on the location of your general in the map (i.e. in a summer field with flowers, or the cool wind of a northern winter).
2) The viewpoint control interface would consist of a mechanical bull modified into a horse shape (and with the bucking behaviour removed... except for when the general is under attack, to punish you for putting yourself at risk). The viewpoint as shown on the screens would be from the generals position. Movement of the "horse" by certain actions (i.e. pressing feet onto certain point) would cause movement of your position on the battlefield.
3) All other controls would consist of voice commands given to your computer controlled staff officers (who would ride with you) or using your sword (which would be a laser pointer/ lightgun type thing allowing pointing and instructing of units.
4) Information would be provided by the method of both the displays and also messages brought by computer controlled runners and advisors (Who would only know what you could know, and would not be any more omniprescent).
5) Actual specifics of the units control would be left to advanced PC A.I. (in other words, completely replace that in RTW). Alternatively I'd employ a bunch of Chinese RPG fans to control them if the AIs weren't good enough - in exchange they get to use the networked PCs for their RPGs for free when I don't need them sub-generalling for me.
And there we have it, Rome:Total Immersion...
edit: 5 x 5m room size seems a bit more ego-massaging now I think of it, and more pratical to fit a mechanical horse in.

I think Mendelil hit the nail on the head for me. Throw in the ability to take and control land, and you have it. Basically, Mount and Blade in Europe. That would be heavy...

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Pretty much Medevil Total war, redone with better graphics, AI, diplomacy, and Spectacular castle sieges.

Roma Victor is just 1000 years too early for you and Meneldil then?
It's basically what you asked for, but starts in 180 AD..

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
My idea of a perfect computer game is a mixture of Total War and KOEI's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I like the battles in Total War, and I like the distinctive characters of each generals in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. You can do one on one fights between generals in RTK too.

I'll go with this, but with some added extras like:
Being able to design and build city walls, fortifications.
Design your own troops, eg heavy inf with crossbows, mixed squads, ships with marines
being able to train and assign officers and NCO's
More diplomacy
Damn good naval battles, not like Pirates
In FPS mode, being able to split your squads and give orders

Actually, make it an MMORPG with player-controlled faction governments that can declare war on the other factions and you've got what I've been daydreaming about for months now.

I like these ideas!!~
Indeed more diplomacy. Perhaps indeed some more real action... like being a ninja on a mission or indeed a cavalrist who has to chase the enemy. Of course better grafics and improved computer intelligence... because it is lacking now~:joker:
and something else, more details on castles. like when you're attacking a castle, the dojo's in it should be visible and destroyable. add the ability of the nature to be on fire at the battlefield but also these buildings etc. more details about the battles.... the map should really be in shape of the region, and anything of buildings that are in it should be visible.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Ooh ooh! I've got it! A Warhammer 40k MMOFPS!
Just imagine it: You're a soldier in a space marine/chaos/eldar/ork unit taking part in an invasion of a certain planet. Unfortunately, shortly after you land, a warp storm or whatever the hell you call those things overcasts the planet and you can neither call in reinforcements nor leave the planet. You're completely cut off and have to make do with what you have. The game would rely extremely heavily on squad-based tactical PVP, but would have a few quests to create a context behind the fighting. At the end of the last quest the warp storm subsides and you are able to board transport ships, and once you get on, you have the option of switching to another server (called "planets" in game, so essentially you're flying to a different planet).

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Something involving a full VR body suit, that way you'd be fully immersed in the game. Then a brand new all improved singing & dancing NWN2, JA2, or KOTR.
Oh & a RTW version as mentioned in a previouse thread that you could rp in as a unit commander.

Re: Your own perfect computer game!
Mine would be a game described in a book called Complicity by Iain Banks. The game is Despot, and is clearly based on the Civilization concept, but the description of it sounds like a much deeper and more interesting game. It is a bit hard to describe if you haven't read the book, but think Civ on steroids, real time instead of TBS, more than decent AI and your view and abilities restricted depending on whether you have risen to ruler of the empire or are still a subject king, nobleman or other.
